View Full Version : WCW/WWE/TNA did not use (wrestler) right!

I hear this a lot and have said it more than once but, I have to wonder how often this is true.

How many horrible gimmicks/angles were the result of WWE and how many were the result of stupid/terrible wrestlers?

I'll start off a list with the following:

"The One" Billy Gunn
"Reverend" D-Von
"Masterlock challenge" Chris Masters
Al Snow
"Hulk" Abyss
Everyone associated with Raven in TNA

There are many more but, feel free to submit names for the list.

So, whose fault was it? The wrestlers or the company?

Monty Brown should have been a TNA homegrown star, but they didn't trust him enough.

He could have been big.

WWE fucked up with Lashley, they had something special, a mutant who can actually wrestle, and they for some strange reason let him go.

DDP in WWE...
The Radicalz as a faction in WWE, especially Saturn & Malenko in WWE... (Although not much saving his non-personality, but it worked in WCW)

And the Masterlock Challenge wasn't actually that bad of a gimmick, or at least it wouldn't have been if it weren't a goddamn full nelson. Chris putting, I don't know, a Dragon Sleeper or some shit on people would have been a wee bit more intense. He pretty well sucked ass and wouldn't have lasted as long as he did without the shtick; by the time he started wrestling better and actually impressing me, the Masterlock Challenge stuff was well over already.

And Abyss, while no means fantastic, could at least be doing something NOT ridiculous. Even mediocre guys can be enjoyable when they're not acting like a fucking retard.

Did they ever complete the homage to the 'Cobra Clutch Challenge' (Sgt Slaughter I believe) angle? If not why didn't they lead to that? I'll edit in an explanation of the CCC when I find it.

WWE fucked up with Lashley, they had something special, a mutant who can actually wrestle, and they for some strange reason let him go.

Lashley wrestled his final WWE match back on July 30th, 2007, where he was allegedly "injured" by Mr. Kennedy. This was actually a way to silently write him off RAW. In January 2008, Lashley posted on the official forum of his website that he had been released from WWE due to circumstances beyond his control, even though he didn't want to leave. Finally on February 4th, 2008 WWE confirmed Lashley's release with an official announcement.

However, if I'm not mistaken, I think the real issue at hand is the way that Lashley was treated during his final active few months in WWE. I seem to recall reading reports that said he was pissed with the way Vince treated him, and that he thought Vince was a racist or some such silliness.

Its funny cause its true the ring gear the entrance music all of it

I gotta say Raven he couldve been so awesome like some fucked up reverse CM Punk

He just makes you wanna see what he will do/say next somehow the WWE brain trust totally missed with him

WCW treated him ok at first......

WWE fcked Raven up, they didn't give him enough freedom he can cut the best promos when he wants to but again he was Vince's monster in the end.

Billy Gunn, good tag team wrestler but sucked as a singles guy, if he feuded with someone else after winning the King of the Ring instead of going straight to The Rock he would be mega over!

DDP in WWE, one of the most over wrestlers in WCW, they buried him straight away by getting his ass kicked by Taker and that stupid gimmick!!!!!

Simon Dean! more of comedy act than a wrestler, if they let him be Nova and let him use his offence he's be a serious contender for IC/US gold!

maybe you guys might disagree but Kanyon was not used right in WWE...same with Nova but his personal life fcked him up so he would not get pushed (only as a job guy!)

If Funk did not break his neck Stevie Richards would be used right in WCW and WWE!

can't think of anymore!

The Portugese Man O' War Aldo Justin Credible Montoya

Mordecai was shit, but Kevin Thorn was badass. It's amazing what a quick gimmick change can do for a guy. See Justin Credible as he also fits into this category.

Bull Buchanan IMO was worthless with everyone he got put with. Correct me if I'm wrong but his track record went like this didn't it?

Bossman's bitch-->RTC's Bitch-->Cena's Bitch

Heidenrich was awful to watch as well IMO. The guy just seemed clueless 24/7.

Nathan Jones was just a joke to begin with.

I also feel Adam Bomb was a huge waste too.

"Masterlock challenge" Chris Masters
I felt sorry for Masters doing this. It was such a one-dimensional way to use someone. That being said, it almost worked. Not on any serious level, but when they put Masters against Shawn Michaels out of the blue, and thereafter, he managed to go to lock The Masterlock on people and they would actually care. People still pop for his fucking Full Nelson. I don't think all is lost for Masters yet.

WWE just missed the boat on Burke is all. Had they marketed the guy like TNA has, he'd be the African American main eventer the WWE so desperately wants. Though given the time, Kofi and/or MVP may fill that void.

As for Tomko, how can he be used any worse? The guy is shit. He sucks on the mic, he sucks in the ring, he's fucking shit. His only claim to fame is that he'll be known as the guy who used to tag with Christian.

tjmidnight420

He should be used as muscle and that's it. No talking, no wrestling, just use the guy as somebody's hired gun.

He's like a whiter, smaller Batista minus the ability to cut a promo.

Noid, if Masters lost the Zach Ryder, Evan Bourne, Yoshi Tatsu, and the local wrestling from Chicago you would still think he has something left. I am waiting for a post where you say "This guy sucks, plain and simple. He should be fired right away".

05-04-2010, 05:24 PM
Well, even I'll admit that Masters has come a long way as a wrestler. Is he great? Nah. Fuck nah. Has he crawled from "Huge and terrible" to "Not as big, pretty watchable"? Sure, I'll give him that much. Does he still have a place in the WWE? WWE doesn't seem to think so, but I have enjoyed him when he's floated in and out of the midcard.
