Big Show/Jack Swagger video.

Kane v. Swagger is announced for later.

Matt Hardy comes out to a nice pop. He's in jeans and shirt. He has a mic. Says he is here whether he should or shouldn't be. Replay of McIntyre giving him his injury 2 weeks ago and last week. Matt starts to comment; McIntyre comes out on the ramp.

Matt tells Drew to "make him go away". Drew brags about Vince hand picking him as the future of the company. Matt and Drew continue their exchange. They brawl. Refs break it up as a loud Hardy chant breaks out. Drew gets the upper hand and throws the ref down. Tony Garea and Mike Rotundo run down to help the refs.

Teddy Long order Drew to stop. Long suspends Drew but he doesn't stop attacking Matt. Long strips McIntyre of the WWE Intercontinental title! Drew doesn't care. Long then fires Drew! Drew gets in Long's face. Long orders the officials to get Drew "off Smackdown!". Video shows Drew being escorted out of the building by an army of refs. Drew mentions Vince McMahon's name on the way out.

Long is backstage. Matthews interviews him. He doesn't know the status of Hardy, doesn't know what to say about Drew, and doesn't know what to do about the IC title.

MVP v. Luke Gallows (w/CM Punk & Serena)

MVP comes out to a huge pop. He's super over. Tron shows replay of MVP/Rey v. SES from last Friday. SES come out to a roar of boos. Lots of MVP chants. Back and forth. MVP had Gallows setup for the Playmaker, Serena distracted him. Gallows looked to end things. Mysterio came from the crowd and jumped Punk and gave him a DDT on the outside. Gallows was distracted and MVP hit a Complete Shot to win the match at about the 5 minute mark.

Post match (cameras off), Punk got the crowd heated.

Cameras on, Punk cut a promo on Rey. Called go a coward and called him out. Mysterio came out to by far the biggest pop of the night this far. Rey tainted Punk "what's wrong Punk? You seem upset". Rey wants to know where the masked mystery man is. Punk denies any knowledge of the masked man. Suggest that Rey has painted drugs on his mask. Great stuff. Rey says only one person is hallucinating and that's Punk.

Rey wants to shave Punk's head. The two talk about their victories. Rey suggest a rubber match. Rey loses, Rey says he'll join SES. But Rey says if Punk loses, Rey gets to cut his hair bald.

Punk says that Rey is having a moment of clarity. Rey says he'll join SES tonight without a fight if Punk shaves his head tonight. Punk turns it down. Rey says that he agrees with the message but not the messenger. Rey suggest that he and Punk can do some good together. Rey tells Punk to lead by example. A shave your head chant starts. Punk says his hair is a symbol of purity. Rey plans seeds in the heads of Luke and Serena. Good promo. Rey promises to put an end to Punk and the SES.

Swagger Fact segment.

Kelly Kelly & Tiffany vs. Michelle McCool & Layla (w/Vickie Guerrero)

Standard divas match. Layla gets the win in about 4 minutes after Michelle with a kick from behind.

Long announces a 4-man tournament for the IC title. 2 of the matches are tonight -- Christian vs. Rhodes & Ziggler vs. Kingston. Winners face next week for the title.

Kofi Kingston v. Dolph Ziggler (IC title qualifying match)

Kofi got a bigger pop than Rey did earlier. There is definitely a buzz in the crowd that they are witnessing something special. Back and forth match. Kofi pulled out a cool tope. Ziggler reminds me of Billy Gunn from 1999. I don't know if that is a good thing. This was a good match. Better than I expected. Kofi on Smackdown! is a good thing for his career. Kofi wins at the 11 minute mark after breaking out of the sleeper and hitting his twisting front leg lariat. The crowd was super behind Kofi winning. Huge pop.

Another Swagger Fact segment. The crowd hates Swagger... Not in a good way. Like an X-Pac heat way. People are yelling boring and get off the screen.

Swagger vs. Kane hype graphic.

Over The Limit match rundown. Looks like Grisham and Striker are hyping the PPV from the announce table.

Christian (w/Heath Slater) vs. Cody Rhodes (IC qualifying match)

Interesting that Cody still has the Legacy graphics for his entrance video. Looks like this is Cody's "reset". I'm not sure about him as IC champ though. Cody and Christian go back and forth. This was a really good even match. There was an awesome standing top rope superplex spot. I haven't seen that spot in a while. It looked brutal live. The end saw Cody hitting a moonsault for a near fall. Cody was frustrated and got caught after a mistake with the Killswitch. Christian got the pin at the 11 minute mark.

Graphic shows Christian vs. Kofi Kingston next week for the IC title.

Swagger is shown walking backstage in his ring attire and the belt.

KFC double down commercial.

Swagger comes out to hardly any reaction. He has a mic. More Swagger Facts. I can't tell if people are booing him or booing the segment. He is now getting the What treatment. I don't know how it is going to come off on TV but there are a ton of people going to the concessions and restrooms. My section is clearing out. Swagger is still going on and on. A You Suck chant has broke out. He's talking about Big Show now. Boom! Kane pyro. Kane comes out.

Kane v. Jack Swagger (non title?)

Kane got a good pop. I don't know of it was for Kane or that horrible segment ending. Kane & Swagger actually did a little amateur wrestling. Big Show makes his entrance. 3rd loudest pop of the night. He's in a suit. Looks like he's joining commentary. Swagger takes control with some pummeling. Kane regains control with an uppercut then a takedown following by a running dropkick to a seated Swagger. Swagger and Kane go back and forth. Show is shown on the Tron on commentary. Swagger takes off the turnbuckle pad but Kane continues to pummel him. Kane hits his flying lariat. Calls for the Choke Slam with a pop. Swagger counters with elbows. Swagger throws Kane into the unprotected corner. Kane actually hesitated before seemingly ramming his own head into the steel corner. It looked bad. Swagger gave Kane a series of shoulder blocks into the unprotected corner. Ref warns him. Swagger doesn't stop. Ref calls for the bell. Kane by DQ at about 8 minutes.

Post match Swagger attacks Kane. Swagger and Show have words. Kane hits Swagger with a boot to the face. Show ends up hitting the Choke Slam through the announce table. Show poses with the World Heavyweight title as the show ends.

(Post SD! Dark Match)

Teddy Long announces that Big Show will get his shot right now at the World Heavyweight title. Show takes his coat off and is ready to wrestle on a shirt tie and vest.

Bell rings. Swagger tries to run. Show grabs him as Swagger is on the outside and pulls him into the ring. Show gets Swagger in the ring and then Kane slides in and they hit a double Choke Slam to send everyone home happy.

Show stayed around and posed for pictures for quite a while. Swagger sold the double choke slam for the entire time Show was around ringside.

McIntyre was a guy I was surprised wasn't drafted to Raw. This is a way to get him there. Daniel Bryan can win the US Title and then sign with SmackDown or something.

So McIntyre IS going to Raw now. Sweet. So who takes the IC title now? MVP? Kofi? Christian? Masters?

WTF?

sounds quite cool but stripping him of the best is quite a gay way to drop the belt, but then again it puts drew over as a baddass

Wow this was a pleasant change to the IC situation. Must say though, McIntyre brought back some cred to the title.

Christian vs. Kofi Kingston next week for the IC title. Weird. neither of these guys need that title right now.

Well, it is Smackdown after all sir.

I'm just trying to figure who will turn heel out of Kofi and Christian because how often do 2 faces fight over a title?

I'm loving Smackdown's breakdown now though. You've got Punk and Swagger as the top heels, but that's basically it seeing as how Taker, Rey, Big Show, Kofi, MVP, and Christian are all basically faces. With McIntyre being "fired" you lose another top potential heel, so I'm thinking some of those faces are making a turn soon.

My money is on Kofi making the turn at this point mainly to see if he can do it. I mean since he debuted he's been a face so a heel Kofi might be good. We'll see.

This is an interesting situation with Drew. It does put him over as being a badass, but Ill have to watch the show to figure out the whole situation. But he will likely be back saying Vince will let him get away with anything.

Not really sure how I feel about the IC Title "Tournament" if I'm honest. When reading the spoilers I thought "Christian being used to put yong talent over, oh well, so much for the push".

Then he won but I'm still not convinced it was the best option. Christian doesn't need to be involved at IC level, Cody could have done with the win (and a title reign) and I'd guess that Kofi will get the win over Xtian in a good match that'll boost Kofi's push.

All in all, I think putting the belt on Ziggler or Rhodes would have been best...unless McIntyre comes back and fueds with Xtian over the belt.

Yeah, I guess they should put on Shad vs. JTG II instead of showcasing a small tournament on PPV for their #2 Championship. Makes sense.

Watching this now, the camera work on the Matt Hardy beatdown is hilarious / ridiculous. Every time McIntye throws a punch the shot bounces up and down in rythm with his fist. I'm finding it hard to take this segment seriously as a result.

They should give Drew a madman gimmick. Next week they should show Drew dressed on camoflague saying that he WILL get revenge not only on Teddy Long but on the WWE as a whole. Then a week later, WWE does a kayfab newstory that WWE headquarters got bombed and then we dont hear from Drew for a while as everyone tries to figure our who did the bombing.

Then a few weeks later, Teddy long is shown walking into his lockeroom when the door explodes and Teddy Long barely survives because it is revealed his room was rigged with explosives.

A week later, Matt Hardy wins a match, smile and rides out of the arena in his car when suddenly his car catches fire and explodes, Matt Hardy is thrown out of the car and barely survives.

WWE puts everyone on "alert" and the authorities investigate this terrorism. But WWE says the show will still go on, but on the next Smackdown, the feed cuts in the middle of the show and the show goes off air! On WWE.com they reveal that somebody bombed the arena and they cut off the feeds and couldnt transmit the show!

With WWE in disarray, Vince comes out and says, "Im a man and I hope whoever is doing this is a man too. Show your face. Tell us who you are what u have against world wrestling entertainment. Be a man!".

There is no response.

A week later WWE recieves a tape in the mail.

They play it on air and it shows Drew in military camo, long bearded sitting in a forest in an unknown location surrounded by bomb making equipment. Drew is holding an AK47 in one hand and stares into the screen. Drew talks calmly into the camera.

"So you thought you could fire me. Was that something a man does? I dont think so. Thats what a coward does. You have opressed me and I have done what an opressed person must do. I fought back. I have brought your heathen organization to its knees and you too, Mr. Mcmahon. You told me I was your chosen one. You told me you will protect me. You told me I could do whatever I want. You lied because you are a coward. You didnt do anything when Teddy Long fired me. Well, now I fired him and as he is licking his wounds in the hospital, he will realize just like you, Mr.McMahon...that the party's OVER!".

WWE then can go a number of ways. One easy way is to take Drew back in to get him to stop destroying the WWE and he can be this guy everyone fears. Another would be to have WWE continue to pursue Drew, and eventually Drew straps a bomb to himself and thats how his character "ends" (They can later make him cut his hair and give him a new name).

Or better yet that "Vince MARRIED" him! Vince can then walk around with Drew patting him on the head, smiling and calling him, "his little pet". Vince can change Drew's them to "Sexy Boy" (Since Shawn is retired) and change the start to Drew screaming "OH OH VINCE!"

They should made the IC Title "tournament" into a proper 8 or 16 man tournament, instead of just 4 participants. I think tournaments can really help add more credibility to titles.

Well, I guess there's not enough guys for a 16-man midcarder tournament but for a 8-man one, it could have involved:

Christian
Kofi
Ziggler
Rhodes
Masters
Kane
Matt Hardy
MVP

Or there's also Gallows, JTG, Shad, and Chavo. And I'm looking at the Smackdown roster on Wikipedia, and there's guys there that I'm not sure are still on Smackdown like Caylen Croft, Trent Barretta, Tyler Reks and Vance Archer. They might be in FCW. If all of these guys were involved, it would become a big 16-man tournament. Maybe even throw Rey and CM Punk in there but they might be a bit above the IC title now.

I watched SmackDown! this past week without reading the spoilers, and I absolutely loved it. Was such a thrill. Normally I enjoy SmackDown!, but this had me on the edge of my seat.

Firstly, Swagger vs. Kane is exactly the match I would have done in the main event, too. Kane does not need to be protected (although he was), and it makes a perfect test for Swagger to face the Big Red Machine to prepare for Big Show. I would have opened the show with an address by Jack Swagger (pre-SmackDown! intro) saying that he asked for the match to prove himself, though.

Another cool thing is that I also predicted the Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler and Christian vs. Cody Rhodes matches, although I never would have guessed they were part of an IC Title Tournament. To clear things up, I feel the thinking behind this is:

1) They want the IC Title off Drew McIntyre so they can either add him to RAW (which I would not find surprising, but I would also not do), or they can create a good stir in the IC Title scene by having the winner next week stripped of the title by Vince McMahon, who claims that Drew should have never lost the belt. Like a Chris Jericho/Triple H situation over the WWE Title circa 2000. Christian or Kofi's win "never happens," which adds a lot of heat to McIntyre's next program (which will obviously be with them, and probably eventually Matt Hardy).

2) Michael Hayes cares about the IC Title. He has proved this time and time again by giving it mainly to guys "above" the title. Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, and even John Morrison have all held titles higher than the IC Title in the belt hierarchy in the WWE. Drew McIntyre was getting a hell of a push to be associated with the belt. But now it's time to put it on either a former ECW Champion, or a guy who has been receiving discontinued pushes recently. If I had to fathom a guess, I would actually say Christian wins, with Kofi then chasing. Just because Christian has the more IC Title wins, and he's got the ECW Titles there to his name.

But yeah, I'm still not entirely unconvinced that we will see Drew McIntyre interfere next week, causing the match to go to a double disqualification, and leading us to a Triple Threat Match at Over the Limit for the title.

And Matt Striker's reference to Prince Nana was awesome -- although the long silence after it made me worry that Striker was getting chewed out.
