Fans in 1990: Couldn't get enough of the top face
Fans in 2010: Wish the top face would go away

Fans in 1990: Were always on the edge of our seat
Fans in 2010: Start chanting "boring!" at the first sign of an overly long sleeper hold

Fans in 1990: Loved seeing a wrestler's signature moves
Fans in 2010: Think a wrestler's signature moves are the only ones he has

Fans in 1990: Thought time went by so slowly the day our favorite wrestling show was on TV
Fans in 2010: You can just read the spoilers, what's the big deal?

Fans in 1990: Blamed the heel when something we disliked happened
Fans in 2010: Blame creative

Fans in 1990: When an angle ended, we felt closure and looked forward to the next one
Fans in 2010: When an angle ends, we talk about how we would've booked it

Fans in 1990: Never wanted the current wrestlers to leave
Fans in 2010: Can't wait for the young wrestlers to be pushed

Fans in 1990: After a wrestling show, we would call your best friends to talk about it
Fans in 2010: After a wrestling show, we go online and talk to people we barely know

Fans in 1990: We got so excited when a wrestler returned
Fans in 2010: We knew they signed a contract months ago, and have already predicted
who they will feud with and how long till they get a title shot

Let me know what you think of these and post your own.

Fans vs Smarks, not fans.

The majority of fans have not changed in attitude like that.

e.g.

Fans in 1990: Couldn't get enough of the top face
Fans in 2010: Couldn't get enough of the top face

Similar to DaVe's post, only more specifically:

1990: The face of the then-WWF is Hulk Hogan and fans can't get enough of him.

2010: The face of the now-WWE is John Cena, and women and fans under 12 can't get enough of him. The rest just wish he'd "fucking retire already, or at least turn heel sometime soon."

Whether it's fans vs fans, or fans vs smarks, it's still a pretty good comparison of our attitudes then and now.

Except I was never a Hulk Hogan fan.

Yeah actually Peep is pretty spot on with this one.

I just hope this particular post doesn't freak him out

This is a sad reality of wrestling today. I still try to remain an actual fan at times so I have a good reason to follow the business, but there are fewer of those 'good' fans out there now. The real question is whether to blame it on the times, the Internet, or the guys in charge. Maybe if we found the cause we could save this business before it's too late.

Age and more knowledge of the product play a roll in almost all examples listed here.

I would say that is a pretty accurate reflection of my journey as a wrestling fan.

Not of a fan in general though....I would say that a six year old fan in 1990 would probably feel the same way as a six year old fan today.

I would agree with that... Kids are kids for the most part...

As Americans we are spoiled and need the ending we want immediately or new & creative... We get bored easy...

Just like the movie industry of today, in 1990 there were still a lot of new movie ideas churning out as well as wrestling ideas/angles... Now both industries seem to repeat or remake old stuff for nostalgic money making ideas or lack of new ideas...

1990: The world wide web was 4 years away from being created...

2010: The world wide web has been around for almost 16 years...

Quite frankly I disagree with this one.

1990: Nobody outside WWF knew of steroid use
2010: Steroid use and drug use is semi-commonplace in the WWE.
