Yea, so the movie adaptation is finally nearing production.

It was optioned by Brad Pitt's production company a few years back.

Marc Forester is attached to direct, and it was just announced that Brad Pitt is actually going to star in it.

Comes out Summer 2012

I think it looks pretty good, not at all like the book though.

my gay crush on Brad Pitt is clouding my judgement though

Looks like a cool movie. Nothing seems to be too different than other zombie movies.

Looks like it would be an "I am Legend" prequel or something.

I'll see it. And there's every possibility that it will be good (though movies that are delayed 6 months because they don't know what to do with it rarely fill me with confidence), but yes. It certainly looks like the book in name only, which is what bothers me.

I like how the "Z"s are being portrayed (seemingly) as a natural disaster, rather than a pandemic. The "Z"s look like a giant wave, overturning vehicles and crashing off of walls, indiscriminate and overwhelming by sheer mass. It's an interesting twist, and shows the global scale that the movie (and book) are dealing with. Not so much a ragtag group of survivors enduring survival horror, but more like an endless series of calamities that the characters are having to deal with.

Some might see it as a bastardization of the zombie genre, where everyone's concerned with blood, gore, and guts and the dynamics of the aforementioned survivors. It's looking more like a Day After Tomorrow With Zombies. That may not seem like a good thing at first, granted. I look forward to it. The book was awesome - I've never read a book that had me double-checking my doors and windows at night, but that one somehow did it.

Also, any other Mass Effect fans get a chill starting around 0:48?

Never cared for zombie flicks at least for the most part there are a few exceptions though and this one actually looks cool and I have never read the book which may be a good thing.

I like Brad Pitt. This is something different for him. I'm pretty interested in seeing him in this. I would of like Dicaprio in it more tho.

Not liking those CGI Z's climbing up the dam, don't recall that happening in the book or them being fast movers.

Well, yeah. If somebody adapted 1984 with Big Brother as a 200-foot cyborg gorilla overlord, it wouldn't be 1984.

I like how this gets a PG-13 Rating with the amounts of death it has. But if Brad Pitt got a BJ in the movie it'd be Rated R

I thought it was a horrible let down. Just another mindless zombie flick. Let's start off with no lead up, move on to repetitive action sequences, and finish off with one of the worst conclusions I have ever seen in a movie. It is basically every other b-movie bullshit attempt to reinvigorate the zombie genre, just with a marquee actor and a bigger budget for special effects.

This might be the worst movie Brad Pitt has ever been in.
