Has the immortal Hulk Hogan destroyed his own career by staying around for so long, or is he just that charismatic? He has impacted wrestling more then anyone else in the business. I heard that Hulkamania may still be running wild throughout parts of the world. What is his rank? TPWW will decide.

Special thanks to DAMN iNATOR for making that thread when I was away. I could have tried but there wouldn't have been a picture for sure. I don't know if my phone can do polls either, though it would seem that it should.

Nobody can take away from Hogan what he did for the 'wrasslin' buisness, but he wasn't that good in the ring. I give him a very solid 8, almost a 9.

Hogan might have been it in the 80s and the late 90s but as a wrestlers hes the worlds worst in my eyes

I gave him a 7. He has a big nostalgia factor for me, but he's overstayed his welcome. If his 2002 WWE run was his last he'd be higher. He could have good matches when he wanted to, but why would he? All he had to do was hit the big boot and drop the leg.

I've never liked the guy. 3 simply for his contributions to the industry.

Terrible wrestler, horribly unprofessional, and one of the men most responsible for destroying WCW with his backstage politics.

Amazing promo man, great ring psychology, and as CSL said in another thread, the greatest ability to manipulate a crowd of all time.

I gave Benoit a 6, so I feel I at least owe Hogan a 7.

I don't like Hulk. I never liked Hulk. I mean, maybe when I was like 4 and don't remember it, but as far back as I can recall he never did shit for me.

However, he was the face of the industry. You can argue whether or not he could have been replaced, but he was the guy at the wheel. I can't really lowball that impact, even if I hate the motherfucker.

Looking from a general fan's point of view here, he is a solid 10.

I gave him a 5 because that is a mediocre number and that is how I feel about his IN RING work.

Changed the industry in the 80's because VKM gave his the ball to run with... Changed WCW in the 90's b/c WCW gave him the ball to run with... Great Promos... Last match with the ROCK was insanely good... Always hated his ring work, even as a kid...

But after watching THIS video that Xero posted yesterday, and reading about his backstage politics for years... It is VERY hard to give this guy anything Higher than a 7 in my book... Watch the video and read up on his history... Has done a ton of damage to the business as well... And I am rounding up to a 7...

Hes the biggest wrestling made star ever, unmatched charisma and I have enjoyed quite a lot of his matches, despite them being widely panned.

One of the few wrestlers to give a match a 'special aura' around it.

But on the flip side you could argue that was also down to promoters letting him have as much of a say in his character as he did. He had creative control for his character and thats down to whoever was in charge of whatever company he was in at the time. Vince really let him have too much control after he became a big draw and him having his say was carried over to WCW who were desperate for asses in seats and buckled to anything he wanted to do.

Wow I can't believe how many low ballers have voted already he's easily a low 9 sure he may have not have been the greatest athletically but he great in every other department and was one of the greatest of our time.

Meh wrestler (though, like Cena, a lot of people give him shit for what was a by-product of the gimmick to an extent), huge politicer and a case of "right place, right time", but you can't deny what he did for the business overall.

Yes, he was one of the downfalls of WCW, but he was also one of the things that solidified them. Hogan was a part of starting two HUGE periods for the mainstream wrestling business, the WrestleMania era and the Attitude Era. No one else can say that.

So while I don't like him personally, and I feel he's done some ridiculous shit that hurt the business, I can't ignore what he did do for it.

He was on top for nearly 20 years and he's still able to work a "live crowd" almost as well as he did back in the day. I find it hard to understand how there can still be Hogan marks in 2010... but the fact is there are, so either he's still doing something right or the fans who still want to see him are holding on to his glory days.

We can't deny what he's done for the business or the fact that he's always given (most of) the fans what they wanted. I'm just bothered by his years and years of politicking and think he's a thing of the past. The more he hangs around, the more pathetic he seems (IMO). I'll give him a 7.

The most important wrestler ever to step into the ring, good and bad. His profile and what he did for the business outweighs the backstage antics. Hell, if it wasn't for him, wrestling probably wouldn't be nearly as big as it is.

Crappy worker though, which has to count for something...so I'll knock off a point.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but it's debatable.

This, too, is debatable....... I'm sure there would have been someone else if Hogan had not been in the right place at the right time.
