Which media library do you use to manage to your music collection? Do you prefer singles or entire albums? Do you manage ID Tags and album arts for your songs?

Feel free to post about your music library

Winamp.

Entire albums.

No album art but bad ID tags really, really annoy me.

iTunes

syncs perfectly with my iPod

And yeah everything has to be perfectly organized, and always the full album unless it is some 80s song or something, not gonna download an entire A-ha album

I use iTunes and Rhythmbox for maintaining my collection and iPod syncing. I have recently started maintaining album arts for singles too along with the album (whenever available).

I manage tracks instead of the entire album if I don't like to listen to the other songs on the album.

I keep a few external HDDs to store my entire digital library (it's fucking massive, bro). I have a bunch of CDs and shit too. For the 12700 or so songs on my iPod, I use iTunes. I have a healthy mix of edited albums (not gonna keep songs I don't like) and singles. Pretty anal about having the tags done up properly, but I'm less strict about album art.

I'm surprised you don't use some shitty open source software to sync to some obscure device.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Songbird (http://www.getsongbird.com/) yet.

I use Foobar2000, I don't really care if the album art is in or not, but the tags have to be right. I have a mix of full albums and singles. Mostly been downloading full albums lately though. I like putting Foobar on shuffle and hearing new songs I didn't really know.

As for what I put on my mp3 player, it doesn't sync with my library as I have too much songs to fit on the thing. So I just put in albums/songs and delete those I don't feel like listening to.

i just have whatever. it's all shit i've been downloading or ripping from cd since 2001 or something, not a chance i'm going through and editting everything. my music folder itself is organised though, like you open the music folder then there's band names and a misc folder for just single songs or whatever.

iTunes until it fucked me in the ass the other day and gave me some error message. Opened it again and it's empty.

I generally use iTunes and I prefer my music to be organised by albums. I also try to get some form of album art when possible.

I've been using Itunes.... I was looking at music Monkey, or whatever the hell it's called, but I may just use that to grab some of the album artwork I'm missing.

If anyone knows a quicker way to get album art, let me know.

I just drag the album cover from Firefox/Google and onto iTunes.

3500ish (complete) albums/eps, all formatted like that with album art. all tracks inside are listed as "01 x.mp3, 02 y.mp3, etc". awwww yeah.

Want to just delete all my music and start over. All the tags are so unorganized, just a giant mess of shit. I'll sometimes begin to go through and name things nice and delete things but furthest i got was like E once.

Mitch inspired me to go back and add years onto my album folders that time he posted a list of his Rush albums. Took me the better part of 2 weeks to finish it off. :(

Also, liking the copious amounts of Porcupine Tree.

Use iTunes.

Have to have the whole album, album art etc..Getting the correct album artwork is a massive cunting waste of time though.

Fucking OCD.

Just don't let iTunes update your album covers. I'm still fixing that.

My iTunes is the most random mix of artists/genres of music. Got everything basically.

I embed all album art and lyrics.

I try not to have less that 192KBPS.

I also leave the comment and genre fields empty and name tracks:

" $num(%track%,2) - %artist% - %album% - %title% " - via MP3TAG

I use Itunes, and its rare I like an entire album, so I mainly upload the songs I like and leave the rest. I only upload full cd's when I borrow them from somebody else.

I used the Tune-up preview to get some album covers since I noticed Itunes doesnt always give the correct ones. Hell 3 weeks after its release, it still can't find A7X's Nightmare album cover.
