View Full Version : Most Iconic Weapon / Wrestler Pairings

Here is a shortlist of the most synonomous weapon to wrestler IDs that I could think of. No doubt that I have forgotten some. The thread title says it all...which pairing do you think is the most iconic.

Triple H - Sledgehammer
Sting - Baseball Bat
Edge & Christian - Chairs
The Dudleys - Tables
Hardy Boyz - Ladders
Sheamus - Lead Pipe
Steve Blackman - Kendo Stick / Nunchucks
Jeff Jarrett - Guitar
Abyss - Janice
Tommy Dreamer - Cane
Mick Foley - Mr. Socko
D-Lo Brown - Chest Plate
Jake Roberts - Snakes
Al Snow - Head
Regal - Brass Knuckles
Ted Dibiase Sr. - The Million Dollar Belt
Crash Holly - The Scale
Honky Tonk Man - Guitar
Sandman - Cane
Hacksaw Jim Duggan - 2x4
Duke "The Dumpster" Droese - Trash Can

I almost want to add "Stone Cold Steve Austin" with "any motor vehicle" or "beer", but not sure that one would fly.

I can't vote for just one.

I would say Stone Cold and Beer for me. But they are all pretty iconic too me. I can't imagine any one of them without their signature weapon.

Could Jake's snake really be described as a "weapon" though?

If you said Wrestler/Prop pairing, which would be more appropriate in Jake's case, that opens up a whole new slew of options. The Bulldogs with Matilda. JR with the cowboy hat. Koko with Frankie the bird. Undertaker with the long black coat and hat. All iconic aspects of the personas (to varying degrees, naturally).

As far as actual weapons go, I would associate Sabu with chairs more than I would Edge and Christian.

Randy Savage had the King's sceptor as his de facto foreign object for quite a while.

I do appreciate it when guys have certain weapons that they are synonymous with. It pays off; just look at the pop the sledgehammer gets every time Trips busts it out... even though he rarely uses it, it's his weapon, and when we see it we know he means business.

This thread does not have the poll.

I left a note in it for the admin. I'll do the same here. A duplicate got created by accident when the system logged me out for a sec while I was making a poll, but decided not to use it.

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE MERGE THESE TWO THREADS!!!!

Or if anyone wants to comment on the topic, just ignore the other one until it goes away...

Whichever works best.

Thanks.

Does this thread really need a "poll"?

What, because there's a poll it's an official cross-section of opinion? Why do people insist on even running polls in the first place? What's wrong with a good old fashioned throwing-shit-around-and-seeing-what-sticks discussion?

Remember in WCW when Jim Duggan's weapon of choice was a taped fist?

He would win matches by punching his opponents with a taped fist and knocking them unconscious, despite him having punched them several times during the match without the tape and it having no more than the standard effect of a wrestling punch.

Could Jake's snake really be described as a "weapon" though?

That was my first thought too and almost spliced the thread with "props and weapons". My thinking is he ultimately did use the snake as a weapon on more than one occassion in a way. Remember the Royal Rumble where he cleared the ring, or when it bit Macho Man's arm. That feels like weapon territory to me.

Uh, if you think titties aren't used as weapons, we obviously haven't been watching the same thing all these years. Sure, they aren't bashed over someone's head (which would be a good thing), but the valet herself is used as a more psycological weapon. And some female managerial pairings are legendary because of it. Think about it.

Totally agree with this. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he once mention a long while back that the only time he ever actually hurt someone with a sledge was the time he used a fake one?
