Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia To Become Pro Wrestler

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia will be joined by fellow heavyweight Bobby Lashley in Japan to take part in a couple of professional wrestling matches, with the first coming in two weeks.

Terms of the deal, as well as which promotion, were not disclosed.

Sylvia, 34, beat Andrei Arlovski at UFC 59 to win the title and defended it twice before losing it to Randy Couture at UFC 68.

Rare is a fighter who crosses over to wrestling. Most notable in that category is Ken Shamrock, who left the sport for several years before returning to MMA.

I’d love to see Sylvia on RAW. He’s a heel if I ever saw one.

He definately has the look and build, and his background would be more than enough to insert him into the mid card and garner him a serious push.

I'd like to see Vince jump all over this if Sylvia is seriously considering crossing over.

You know Tim Sylvia has very little of what anyone could call a personality, right? That and he's not very talented as far as anything other than throwing a jab or being tall is concerned. He'd be boring as hell.

Maybe. I wouldn't dare throw him out there right off the bat. I think with some training he could be at least decent.

Besides, given his size, he'd be booked as a monster anyways. He doesn't have to come in and be a great technical wreslter.

Brock and Shamrock weren't exactly oozing with charisma either. Brock had the look to him and had great presence. He was dull on the mic. Shamrock wasn't a great talker either, but he had a certain intensity about him.

Yea, but Batista didnt look like that before becoming a pro wrestler. I made a joke that Wes Sims should become a wrestler after watching him on the Ultimate Fighter. Both of them would have to do serious bulking up (not in the fried food way) to look and become a marketable long term wrestler.
