Every game I've watched so far has at least 4 instances of this and we're not even done with week 1. It's already at 3 at the half of the Cards game right now. And it's causing injuries too with of course Eli but there was another preseason injury caused by a loose helmet whose name I can't remember.

Was there a change in the regulation of helmets or something? What is causing this? I hate to sound like your Aunt Thelma who doesn't know anything about football but this needs to be addressed.

A helmet flying off makes a good case for a penalty with the new rules to protect WRs so Im pretty sure they aren't strapping up their helmets as tight as they could/should.

Nothing has been changed as far as helmets are concerned. NFL players are notorious for not buckling all the points up on their chin straps. At best you'll see a player only buckle up two out of four straps up. Of course, player in the NFL will sacrifice whatever in the name of getting an advantage or for laziness sakes. That's why you see players who don't where knee and thigh pads.

It's a bit silly to not strap up correctly...especially if you happen to have a play called for you because the NFL has adapted the NCAA rule which blows a play dead if the player in possessino of the ball has his helmet come off.

I noticed the backs of all the Giants helmets had some tag that said "Schutt" on them, never seen that before. Dunno about other teams.

Pretty shitty moment in the Falcons game where Eric Weems helmet came off while he had the ball. He would have gotten the first down, but the play was ruled dead immediately.

I understand why they do it that way, and the chances of that happening in a huge spot are small, but it still bothered me a little.

It seems like its happening every game when it used to happen like once a week

Two guys lost their helmet on one play in the Broncos game

I think football is going to be drastically different in the next 5-10 years.

Why?

Concussions and various injuries. It's too much for the human body.

Also helmets coming off every play doesn't seem to help it.

Oh, I don't know. I don't think it makes a big difference. Maybe the shape of the helmet or whatever, but I'm sure they all have similar safety features. Obviously the newest ones are probably the best.

I thought the NFL was going to enforce the tightening of straps this year
