View Full Version : Batista returning to WWE?

When reports first broke that Batista was considering a mixed martial arts debut with Strikeforce, many doubted that the former WWE Champion was ever realistically planning to step into a cage fight. Sources, however, persistently said the debut was going to happen, with fellow WWE wrestler-turned-fighter Bobby Lashley being eyed as an ideal first opponent. The persistence, combined with photos of Batista training with Team Cesar Gracie, kept the discussion alive.

But if a quote attributed to Batista from earlier this week proves true, one can officially table the rumors of “Big Dave” entering the world of mixed martial arts, at least in the near term.

Joint reporting from MMA Supremacy and Bloody Elbow reveals that Batista is no longer planning for an imminent cage debut and is instead looking towards future involvement with WWE.

“I will not be doing MMA/Strikeforce any time soon. So you can see me in the future of the WWE,” said Batista, according to the story.

The news, which comes in the wake of web stories about Batista’s high asking price, should not be surprising.

Found this on NoDQ.com, so take it for what you will.

To be honest, Nexus' theme song is so completely gay even Dancin' Dave's theme seems good.

I really don't miss him at all. His last heel run was pretty damn good though, and definitely his best work since 05, but I really think he should just stay retired.
I wouldn't mind seeing him come back for an angle or two shortly I guess, but not fulltime.

I honestly think their music is a huge part of the reason why they've failed as the "anti heros" wwe wanted them to be. You can't try be all intense and then come out to soft rock.

Batista's heel run was decent, although RAW sucked at the time, and he has only really been interesting before that during his 2004/2005 rise. If Dave wanted a job back, he'd get it. He was one of their biggest attractions and merchandise movers for a while. I just can't think of a place I'd want him creatively, though.

Actually, given thought, I'd like to see Batista in short programs against The Miz, John Morrison and CM Punk. But almost exclusively to put them over. Batista's ego probably wouldn't allow that.

By Ryan Clark on Friday, October 8th, 2010 at 1:17 PM EST

Strikeforce head Steve Coker recently told MMA Hour that he thinks Bobby Lashley vs. Batista “should happen” in Strikeforce, but that the main issue right now is Batista’s schedule.

“I know there’s ongoing dialogue between [Strikeforce matchmaker] Rich [Chou] and Bautista, and they are trying to come to an agreement of the minds, but right now Bautista has a couple of movie offers and it’s just tying up his time. Let’s see where it goes from there.”

Is that a serious post?
At no time have I ever wanted to see him perform.
And I was just as disappointed when he won the rumblle as I was when Cena won.
Blantista doesnt need or deserve to be part of WWE's main event card. Mid-Card at best.

I could see Dancin' Dave as the mastermind behind Nexus. He was could claim he was forced out of the company when he was "injured" (recall- he was in a wheelchair the night he got "fired"). So while recouping he formed Nexus to take his anger out on the WWE. He saw 7 guys that needed help, and he helped them out as long as they terrorized WWE.

Seriously? Awesome post there man...way to add to the topic.

Although I didn't actually want to ever see Batista perform, I think he was better as a heel than a face...so if he were to return, he should be heel and stay heel.

Batista definitely should always be heel, but, I don't know. The guy is huge, has a great look, but there's something about him that doesn't allow him to completely become a STAR. He doesn't have "it" (whatever "it" is).

yeah, I always thought that myself

Randy Orton's the same way

Like these 2 don't have the final "it" factor that Cena posseses

At this point, I don't think there needs to be a mastermind behind the Nexus.

There doesn't need to be but Nexus is falling apart and Cena extends the life of Nexus and adds a new dynamic but making Batista the GM/mastermind of the Nexus will bring even more life to the Nexus storyline. It does seem very fitting though. Cena cheated and got Batista out of the WWE so lets say he planned all this and have gotten Cena to join Nexus and humiliate him somehow.

Actually, the idea that Michael Cole reads out his last e-mail, saying something along the lines of 'and I will reveal myself now', followed by Dancing Dave coming out with an iPad doesn't disturb me quite as much as it should.

Especially if this was his new theme and tron.

Can you really imagine Batista sitting in front of a computer, and doing things via email? What kind of an "Animal" does things via email? It would be kind of contradictory having him be a beast, a tough SOB, and then making people believe he is sending emails to Michael Cole, of all people.

Yes. Big Dave has always been a wrestler I enjoy watching. He was tearing it up his last heel run.

Agreed. He was immense during the Mania build.

I do like the idea of Batista being behind the Nexus. The thing is, I feel like it would downgrade Barrett a bit if Bats were to be the one behind the entire thing.

Honestly, besides going out in a wheelchair, Batista's not going to have another run that was better than his last heel turn this year. His promos were great, he got some great matches pulled out of him by Rey Mysterio, and he and Cena at Mania did a helluva job considering their track records.

I wouldn't mind a one off appearance where he destorys someone, but anything long term is not going to go very far or be very effective.
