View Full Version : If you were the champion of a major company...

Would you take your belt everywhere?

Not talking about crappy indy feds where people wrestle for the 'world' title in front of 20 people, I'm talking WWE/World Champion, TNA Champion, WCW Champion (back in the day), possibly even the ROH Champion.

Was talking to a mate about wrestling and said if I was WWE champion of something I'd probably wear it around my waist everywhere I go, like, grocey shopping or to the post office etc. Probably take it to the gym or something.

Think the question these days is more likely to be - would the company even let you?

I'd definitely bang some bitches while wearing it.

Good point, hadn't thought about that. Though for the sake of the thread lets assume they give you the title, it's yours. If you lose it or anything then it comes out of your wages.

I do not think Vince would approve of wearing it everywhere.

Just an FYI
When someone wins a title in WWE, they receive a replica of that title that they keep forever. Much like NCAA rules, they can not sell it as long as they are employed by the WWE.

As for the question, hell yeah I would are you kidding me? I own the ECW Championship belt (origonal) and the John Cena US Spinner title ( Just got it yesterday for Christmas). I carry my ECW belt around to a lot of place because everyone looks at it and wants to take pictures with... kids love it... not in a creepy way:shifty:

Rammsteinmad

That's kinda weird that you do that... :shifty:

So are you actually a wrestler, or do you pretend to be so kids take photos?

No I am a ring announcer for TWF in Seguin and a concierge in Dallas.

Didn't Mick Foley do an angle like this when he won the TNA World Title. They showed him taking the title everywhere and showing it off.

lolz it was a joke!!! Jesus Christ.... I will take my championships to autograph sessions and stuff like that.... its not like I go the the grocery store in a black van and throw the title out the back door attached to a fishing line to lure in the kiddos... sheesh! I have a 2 year old and one on the way... Kids just like the belts because they have never seen them.

Id prolly mow the lawn with it on, and go to the bank wearing it. Simple stuff. Then id more than likely forget to bring it to the show and have to use the divas title or something.

You're a ring announcer who wrestles 2-3 times a month and only works for one small indy fed? :wtf:

That is correct... I mainly do it for fun I get paid very little per show ( barley covers the gas money for the 3 hour road trip) but its worth it.
I have a full time job as a concierge in Dallas, thats how I pay the bills. The matches I have are not carded matches more like sessions but we tape them, mainly for studying purposes.

Yeah I usually have the title with me because its a conversation starter. I lay my titles out on the table while doing autograph sessions so people can take pictures with them if they want.... sadly it seems people will stand in line just to take a pic with one of the belts and not ask me for an autograph... happens a lot because no one really knows who I am unless your a regular at the shows.

I would do the "travelling champion" route like the old NWA World Heavyweight champions did in the past and defend the title all around the world.

I don't know, but WWE probably has rules against wearing your title outside of public appearances, charity, etc.

FourFifty
12-27-2010, 11:29 PM
Let's just assume that WWE/TNA/ROH in 4-7 years does not have any rules on where you can and cannot take the title.

I would leave mine at home, and use a replica of the replica title. They say WWE gives you a replica title to keep when you win a championship, but I would want that to be safe. I earned that. I don't want some snot nosed little crotch fruit getting their ecto cooler stained hands on what I earned. They can touch something that was bought at a souvenir stand instead of the real deal.
And I wouldn't take the replica everywhere. The title would be out for public appearances, charity events, promotional interviews, that kinda stuff.

There are guys on the smallest of levels that will take belts out to bars, to supermarkets etc, some of the biggest 'marks' on earth are 'in the business'. They tend to be hated/laughed at/have death wished upon them/all of the above. Except for doing company appearances etc, I doubt it's much different at the highest level.

Yes. The replica that is given to me stays with me. The title I would carry around would be a replica that anyone could buy. Do you want ecto cooler stained hands on something you've earned?

I'd sell it on ebay for over a mill, and get a replica and then use that as a title. Would they know the difference?

Jimmy Perez aka "The Latin Sensation" takes care of pretty much everything as far as booking and training goes... He is the owner and booker.

So are you trained? Does he have a school or does he, for example, verbally tell you the basics then make you wrestle him in the woods?

You mean you don't want him to FILL YOU IN?
