View Full Version : How would you feel about The World's Strongest WWE Champ?

Mark Henry has gotten alittle push going into the Royal Rumble. He won the battle royal on Tribute to the Troops, the one on Monday, and pretty much "killed off" Andrew Jackson. He's been a great company man, what do you think of him winning the rumble and going on to challenge at wrestlemania for the WWE or World Championship? I dont think it would a 100% suprise if he won (he's got the big man factor), and he deserves a short run with the world title. I'd say let him win the title from Miz, hold it for a few months and then lose it at Summerslam to an up and comer.

Ew, no. They already gave him the ECW title. That was big enough of a 'thank you'. Could you imagine Mark Henry closing a show?

5 years ago, I would've said no. But since his face turn, Henry has done two things he had never done in his career prior to that point; get/stay over with the crowd and stay healthy.

I wouldn't be too fond of the idea, but he is one of their top faces, his size is legit and if they were to give him a test run around the summer time, I wouldn't have much to say in terms of being against it that wouldn't based on a subjective opinion.

Henry is one of those guys where he's good as a stepping stone for rising heels. A win over him is impressive due to his size and I don't mind Henry, but is he the guy who you want to be the focal part of your company? Naw.

I will agree that he is a great company man, but he lacks the "it" factor when it comes to being a main eventer.

A short run with the title wouldnt bother me, but not as a mania match.

Pretty sure his winning that mini-Rumble was just to establish "the big man" in general as a threat in the match.

I'm trying to imagine Mark Henry winning the WWE/World title right now, but the only thing that crosses my mind is Tony Schiavone condescendingly saying "That'll put butts in the seats!"

Oh god no. I've got no problem with Henry, but there's no way someone of his age and talent level should be getting a run with the strap before the wealth of talented midcarders the WWE has.

Wouldnt mind him as a transitional champ after Mania for a while.

If there was ever a time to do it tho, it was when he beat Orton on his Raw 'debut' a couple of yrs back.

I would accept Mark Henry as my WWE Champion only if he wins the Money in the Bank at Wrestlemania and cashes it on a random episode of Raw, Smackdown or even Superstars.

Thats what I agree on, I guess he maybe shouldnt main event Wrestlemania but you could call him a good "transition" champion (a way for a young heel to beat a veteran whos champ to become main event status). Give him a short run and maybe by June-ish Barrett/ Dolph/ McIntyre would be ready for a title run

Given his locker room presence, well liked status as a vet, and the amount of help he gives all the younger guys, as well as being an all around good guy, I would take no issue with them making him champ at least once before he retired.

and I'll tell you why, when he faced Tyson Kidd and squashed him and then squashed Andrew Jackson no one here thought wow what an impressive feat, everyone was like who? Why would they put Henry over Kidd, the fact that everyone was expecting Henry to job to Kidd and we're kinda pissed when he didn't kinda tells ya no one sees him as a Main Event guy.

Lol, I'm not saying give him a mania main event, I'm saying, putting the strap on him for a limited time before he retired...I wouldn't completely abhor the idea of it, especially if they turned him heel again, legitimately.

I wouldn't hate it, he is entertaining and I kind of love him. However he really shouldn't beat anybody "above" him, except to further an angle due to interference. And he shouldn't really lose to anyone below him. Having him squash guys like Kidd, Diabiase, and other heels of that stature only helps him put over guys like Miz or Barrett etc...

Keep the push but keep it limited.

Good point. I remember Miz beating him (virtually) clean on raw and thinking about the credibility boost it would give him.

Mark Henry is the greatest competitor to ever lace up a pair of boots. He's basically about twice as talented as Shawn Michaels, and it'd be foolish to put the belt on anyone BUT him until he finally calls it quits after all of the appropriate people have gotten their asses kicked and their wigs split.

Everyone was saying the same thing about Kane 12 months ago. His run wasn't that brutal though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he should win it, but I wouldn't bitch and moan an stop watching if he did.

Doesn't matter though, cause it will never happen.

I hate when people want wrestlers to get title reigns as 'thank yous' for their service. Fuck not everyone can have a fucking title reign. If that was the case then I think Michael Cole deserves to be Champion for his 10+ years of service.

Seriously, that company man thing is silly. It's not like he's talented enough to be calling his own shots. He has to do what they say if he wants to keep his job. I think he appreciates his job and gets along well with people, but that's probably about it.

Also, considering how injury prone he has proven himself to be over the last 15 years or so plus the fact that he's the oldest he's ever been now, putting the title on him is pretty laughable.

steveweiser
01-19-2011, 08:13 PM
I don't care either way, on one hand he doesn't have that "IT" factor to be the face of the company or the skills to take people to new levels but on the other hand if he was pushed right, fans were given amnesia and he started over again then he could be presented as a genuine big man threat but not now, too far down the line, perhaps it should be a no from me then :(

XCaliber

Could happen he has given the company quite a few years of service now but I'm not so sure I can envision it happening while he were a face though.

BollywoodSingh
01-20-2011, 07:33 PM
Ya, I wouldn't call him a company man. He was never a big enough asset to WWE to be in any position to making crazy demands. He's just a guy that's been working for them for a long time. It's not like other companies tried very hard to steal him and he said no. He has been one of the most overpaid and worst wrestlers they've had in the last 15years. He has done nothing to deserve a run with the title.

He is a walking tank, with an "I'm gonna rape you" expression etched onto his face.

Kind of surprised he hasn't won it. I think he could have around the time he first came back. He's the type of guy that can make a credible champion based on his presence alone. But that presence can be diminished, if he's stuck in mid card hell, losing all the time.

Always been a fan though, so I personally would still enjoy it.

Tom Guycott
01-21-2011, 02:10 AM
I think they missed their chance. Looked like he was lined up for a monster heel WHC title run a few years back with the "Silverback" gimmick, when he got all those vignettes like he was new and was injuring people for fun on Smackdown (I even erroniously predicted he would win shortly after "injuring" Chris Benoit, and when Chris came back from his legit injury, he would win the strap off of Henry). Even being "transitional" or as a "thank you", it would have been more believable then.

As it stands now, he doesn't need it. He's over well enough as a face, and as it has been stated before, his size and tenure lends credibility to anyone who beats him as a stepping stone up the card. No matter how much of a jobber he's been in his history, fans will never 100% buy it as such.
