Got the idea of this thread while watching a few Rumble matches. For example, the Samoan Savage. We had that in Umaga this generation, but before that the last time was the mid-90s incarnation of the Headshrinkers.

Country Boy is another one. You had the Godwins in the 90s and Hillbilly Jim in the 80s.

Cowboy is one I could see coming back and being over. The last major gimmick I can remember was the New Blackjacks in the 90s.

Name some other gimmicks that had been around in different generations that we don't see anymore, and discuss whether you'd like to see them or not.

And I just remembered Lance Cade was pretty much a cowboy.

I think your thinking of Cody Deaner, the guy ODB introduced.

I think they should bring a gimmick back similar to Doink, updated like the Dark Night but maybe with a new spin.

Would Randy Orton qualify as an "anti-hero" right now? Because those guys seem to rise to the top... break all the rules but be a face in the process....

The first thing that came to mind was the "hardcore" gimmick, like Cactus Jack or Sabu. Your typical crazy bastard that doesn't care if he gets hit with chairs/put through tables/wrapped in barbed wire.

You definitely don't have that character in WWE. TNA has Abyss and ROH has Necro Butcher, but that's about the extent of it in mainstream wrestling. The thing about it is, that gimmick has a niche in those companies. Honestly, I doubt we'll ever see it in WWE again as long as they remain PG.

Oh look, one more idiot on TPWW who can't tell the difference between "racist" and "racially themed."

More fun to call it racist.

Stereotypes are stereotypes because they are generally true to an extent.

We need more gay gimmicks, and Orlando Jordan doesn't count since he is a switch hitter.

Gimmicks that are based on real-life jobs that sometimes have negative connotations. Tax-men (IRS), Trashmen (Duke Drose) , Construction workers (Steve Regal/Blacktop Bully), Cop (Big BossMan), Security Guards (Big Bubba/Mr Hughes), Teachers (Striker/Dean Douglas) Republicans (JBL, Million Dollar Man, Right to Censor), Porn Star (Val Venis), Cheerleaders (Spirit Squad), Pimp (Godfather.)

... how'd you not mention MONGO? I guess Goldberg too, but he didn't constantly remind you he played for the Falcons, or even Georgia. McMichael playing for "Da Bears" was his whole schtick!
