View Full Version : Why are the ropes on RAW white? (rope questions)

When exactly did this happen and why? Did they change it so people wouldn't confuse or think that they were the same product as that other wrestling company on Spike TV? Is it because Superstars has white ropes, so to save time they just kept both of them the same? Is it because white ropes look better in HD?

Also, they tape NXT before RAW. They got the yellow ropes. How long does it take for the ring crew to change the ropes in time for RAW to it's usual white?

I think the ropes are white to accent the different lighting they use during wrestlers' entrances. Either that or someone just likes white.

Can't tell you the reason for it, but I much prefer the white look on Raw over the past year. It's freshened up the image in my opinion. Red ropes got old for me. I know it's only something minor but it can have big effect on the mood of the show I think. It takes the officials just a couple of minutes to change the ropes.

I think it probably enhances the ring in HD. gives it a big bright border. Everything else is red for RAW.

Not sure why they're white. As for time it takes to do ropes it depends on if they have 4 or 12 people doing it. if 12 it would take only like 5 min. 4 guys it takes around 10. 1 person it takes about 20

Because transparent ropes would be awkward.

"They" tape NXT before Smackdown, not Raw. The refs and the ring crew change the ropes within 10 minutes at max.

I say this...

RAW - Red
NXT - Yellow
SmackDown! - Blue
Big 4 PPVs (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series) - Red, White, & Blue
Other PPVs - White

i've always wondered about that one corner, usually the back right one, with all 3 ropes having a little extra on them as they attach to the turnbuckle. is it for a little extra footspace in case anyone want to jump off it or what?

Maybe that's the one most often used for things like tossing someone shoulder first into the ring post, torqueing someone's leg around the post, slamming an opponent's head against the exposed steel of the top turnbuckle, etc.? Probably not, but it's the best guess I could muster.

Could also be the turnbuckle where the ropes connect and they're there for reinforcement.

Are the ropes made as one continuous loop or are they just a rope?
