Just re- watching Zack Ryder episodes on youtube. And Dolph Ziggler has his little 'later mark' sign off. Got me thinking.....

When was the term 'mark' first used to describe wrestling fans?

And who came up with it?

it comes from back in the day when thieves used to literally leave a mark of chalk on a would be victims back. this is to signify to the thief's cohorts that the guy was the next target...or mark.
