For a short time including "Mind Games" he did, why though?

I figured it was because Mankind got to him rather than him feeling that Mankind was more of a threat than Undertaker. Also, Paul was a horrible father who played mind-games with his kids.

to give Mankind an advantage over Undertaker and to expose his weakness, and plus to humanise Undertaker.

Eventually Bearer turned heel again by betraying (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betray) his long-time friend at SummerSlam 1996 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SummerSlam_%281996%29) to align himself with The Undertaker's arch-enemy, Mankind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Foley). While managing Mankind, his new protege always referred to him as "Uncle Paul". During this time, Bearer would also enlist the services of The Executioner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Gordy) and Vader (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Van_Vader) to do battle against The Undertaker. In April 1997 at In Your House Revenge of the Taker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Your_House_14:_Revenge_of_the_%27Taker), The Undertaker set Bearer's face ablaze using a fireball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireball_%28wrestling%29). As a result, Bearer's head was bandaged (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandage) for a time before changing his looks, shedding the makeup of ghostly pallor and jet-black hair to his natural brown hair and less make-up. No longer using his ghostly appearance and mannerisms, he became loudmouthed and shrill. Around mid 1997, Paul Bearer blackmailed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackmailed) The Undertaker (WWF Champion at the time) into being his protege again by threatening to reveal a deep, dark secret involving him, often making references to "the fires of Hell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell)". Feeling he had no choice, The Undertaker accepted. While managing The Undertaker this time around, Bearer was very unpleasant toward him, harassing and nagging at him constantly. Eventually, Undertaker lost his patience and refused to allow Bearer to continue being his manager, leading Bearer to reveal the secret.
The secret suggested that Bearer had a traumatic past with The Undertaker which long preceded Brother Love's joining the two in January 1991. The secret, which involved the Undertaker's family, was: The Undertaker's mother had an affair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adultery) with Paul Bearer and as a result, gave birth to a younger half-brother of The Undertaker, named Kane. Throughout The Undertaker's childhood and teen years, he lived in a funeral home (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funeral_home) with his parents and half-brother. According to Paul Bearer, The Undertaker killed his parents and caused his half-brother's face to be bruised (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruise) and scarred (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scar) by setting the funeral home ablaze. At the time throughout mid to late 1997, The Undertaker denied all this, claiming it was his younger half-brother's fault. Bearer accused The Undertaker of being a "murderer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murderer)" and "liar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie)". Because of the fire incident, The Undertaker thought his younger half-brother and Bearer's illegitimate son had been dead for years, that is, until Bearer introduced Kane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Jacobs) in October 1997 at In Your House Badd Blood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badd_Blood:_In_Your_House); during which, Kane would cost The Undertaker a Hell in a Cell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell_in_a_Cell) match against Shawn Michaels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_Michaels).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bearer#cite_note-1998results-2) This led to an intense, bitter rivalry between The Undertaker and Kane with Bearer very much involved.

What was his "motivation" though? Wiki doesn't say.

I always assumed that it was because he found out his "son" was alive.....only it took Kane 1.5 years to return......

He said he was sick and tired of being sick and tired. He was tired of carrying the Undertaker around and stuff.

Paul Bearer had gotten "sick and tired" of Undertaker constantly making him late to things. If you've seen his ring entrance you know, it literally takes him 20 minutes to walk 100 feet. Now imagine you've got a doctor's appointment, or a lunch meeting, and you've got to wait 2 fucking hours for him to get to the car, buckle his seat belt, get out and lock the doors, walk to the entry way.....etc.

Bottom line is, Mankind walked and kept up a much better pace. It allowed Paul Bearer to be more prompt and improved his career as a manager as he didn't look so god damn irresponsible by showing up late to shit.
