Report by: Shane, rajah.com reader

Smackdown begins:

Smackdown opens with no pyros ? Michael Cole stands in the ring and addressed
the crowd about an incident at an El Paso house show on Sunday involving Eddie
Guerrero?s mother.

We see the footage from El Paso, where Eddie invites his family to the ring,
including his mother. JBL comes out to the ring and decks Eddie with his WWE
title. Then he gets in Eddie?s mother?s face, and the two have some heated
words. Eventually, JBL puts his hands on her, and she collapses to the ground,
suffering a heart attack. JBL quickly gets the hell out of dodge. She?s
carted out of the ring by EMTs as her family, including Eddie, watch in horror.

Commercial

Non title match: U.S. Champion John Cena vs. Doug Basham w/Danny Basham

Cena comes out to a fantastic reaction, wearing a Tom Chambers Phoenix Suns
jersey. He does another great rap on the Bashams and Rene Dupree. A good half
dozen ?Cena? chants break out. Cena eventually beats Doug with the FU,
despite Danny?s attempts at interference.

Winner: John Cena

Commercial

Cruiserweight title match: Chavo Guerrero w/Chavo Guerrero Classic vs.
Jacqueline

Yep. Chavo puts out an open challenge, declaring it ?Chavo vs. the World.?
?Chavo sucks? chants break out more than once. Jacqueline comes out. Chavo
gets back on the mic, asking Jackie if she?s serious, she doesn?t have a
chance against a man, and so forth. After about 2 mintues of this, Jackie slaps
him, and it?s on. Jackie gets a little offensive flurry going, but Chavo
dominates most of the match. At one point, the referee is destracted by Chavo
Classic (Sr.) while Chavo Jr. stands on top of Jacqueline. Jacqueline low blows
Chavo, rolls him up, gets the 1-2-3, and the crowd erupts. The Chavos can?t
believe it. It was the moment of the night.

Winner and new cruiserweight champion: Jacqueline

Commercial

Booker T goes to see a psychic to find out what?s going to happen between him
and The Undertaker at Judgment Day. The psychic, a Miss Cleo clone, tells him
that a dead man has risen from the black shadows and is after him. She gives
him several random items as part of some sort of spell to keep him safe, but
tells Booker he needs one more thing: dirt from an unmarked grave.

Commercial

Nunzio and Johnny Stamboli enter the ring ready for a tag team match. Kurt Angle
is wheeled out by whoever that guy is to the entrance of the ring. Crowd chants
?You suck? well after his music ends. Angle says he had hoped that the
disrespect he received last week at Oklahoma City was just an abberation, but
apparently not. He says he?s very disappointed in us. Booooooo. On to
business, Angle reminds us he promised last week that The Undertaker would
wrestle this week. He says he surveyed the locker room, and no one wanted to
face the Dead Man. He turns his attention to the gentlemen in the ring; tells
them he knows they were expecting a tag team match, but sometimes things
don?t work out as you expect. Therefore, Nunzio and Stamboli would be facing
the Undertaker tonight. And that match will begin? right? now.

Booooong?

The Undertaker vs. Nunzio and Johnny Stamboli

Angle wheels himself to the back, and Paul Bearer leads The Undertaker to the
ring. The crowd is, of course, going nuts. He does his usual entrance, raises
his hand to turn on the lights, Mr. Bearer takes his jacket and hat, and
we?re underway. Nunzio is thrown out of the ring early in the match; most of
it featured Taker vs. Stamboli. Taker performs his top rope move, then wins
with some random submission move on Stamboli.

Winner: The Undertaker

Post match: Nunzio reenters the ring and gets a Last Ride for his trouble. Taker
then turns to Stamboli and tombstones him. The lights go back out, Taker pays
homage to the urn, and exits. The crowd is beside itself.

Commercial

Later, we find Booker T at a graveyard looking for such a grave. He finds one,
collects some dirt, and leaves. Zoom in on the tombstone, we see a gloved hand
emerge from the dirt.

Rene Dupree comes down to the ring with Fifi, who looks scared to death, to do
some guest commentary.

Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie:

Pretty basic inexperienced ladies match. At one point, Torrie goes for the pin,
and Dawn Marie puts her hand firmly on Torrie?s rear end as she kicks out.
Let?s see if the camera catches that. Everyone on my side of the arena did.
Anyway, toward the end, Rene tries to distract Torrie, but Torrie kicks him
away, does a top rope move on Dawn Marie and gets the pin. Toward the end of
the match, Cena comes out and stares down Dupree.

Winner: Torrie Wilson

After the match, Dupree goes after Cena. He nails Cena with a bunch of foreign
objects, and powerbombs him through the American(!) announce table. Dupree gets
in the ring and does his little French dance to a good deal of heat. Cena gets
carried to the back.

Commercial

Live from New York, Michael Cole and Tazz interview JBL. Even via satellite, he
gets a lot of heat. Bradshaw says it wasn?t his fault what happened, Eddie
Guerrero?s family had no business being in the ring, and it?s possible his
mother faked the whole thing. He says he?s in New York not because he?s
afraid of Guerrero but because he?s there on business. He?s on a show on
CNBC, the ?most respected financial channel in the world,? or something to
that effect. He leaves us with a final thought: His people came to this country
on a boat ? not an innertube.

Commercial

Backstage, Paul Heyman tells Angle it would be inadvisable to allow Eddie
Guerrero to compete in a tag team match with Rob Van Dam against the Dudley
Boyz, because Eddie?s in a bad mood and would certainly cause a good deal of
physical harm to the Dudleys? and they would have to sue the company. Angle
says he made his point, and Eddie?s out of the match.

Dudley Boyz vs. Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio

The Dudleys come out to a mixed reaction, which turns into a lot of heat as the
match goes on. Van Dam comes out to a great pop. His partner is a returning Rey
Mysterio, who receives as loud a pop as RVD. The match lasts a good 15 minutes,
with Mysterio hitting the 619 toward the end. The match ends as RVD performs
his rolling thunder move on Bubba the same time that Mysterio hits a top-rope
move.

Winners: Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio

Post-match, the Dudleys proceed to beat on their opponents. After some
?Eddie? chants, Eddie Guerrero gives the crowd what they want and runs down
to the ring. He grabs a chair and beats up everyone. Bubba, D-Von, RVD and a
couple refs get chair shots. The top part of the chair comes off in the
process. He uses the chair for a good 2-3 minutes, then gives us a half-crazed
look as the show goes off the air.

Nothing signifigant happens when the show goes off the air.

Biggest pops:

1. The Undertaker
2. John Cena
3. Eddie Guerrero
4. Rey Mysterio
5. Rob Van Dam

(All five men received exceptional pops.)

Biggest heat:

1. Kurt Angle
2. JBL
3. Chavo Guerrero
4. Rene Dupree
5. Dudley Boyz

Moment of the night: Jacqueline?s victory
Sign of the night: ?This Mexican supports JBL?

The Tucson Convention Center Arena holds not quite 10,000, and it didn?t sell
out. A good portion of the upper section of the arena on one side was blocked
off. There were probably 7,000-8,000 in attendance.

It's about time the WWe creative team surprised us, and I think it's safe to say that no-one saw this coming!
However, couldn't they have come up with something better than;

Writer: We need someone to challenge Chavo
Vince: Where's that Tough Enough kid?
Writer: Bob Holly broke him
Vince: That goofy bob - always mucking around! *chortles*
Writer: Anyway, we don't have anyone to challenge Chavo, and he's out at the ring now
Vince *points to Jacqueline*: Who's that?
Jacqueline: Here's your coffee, Vince
Vince: Great. Emm...can you wrestle?
Jacqueline: emmm....I've held the womens title!
Vince: Great. Whatever. Go out and pin Chavo with a roll-up for the little-guy title.
Jacqueline: WTF?
Writer: Great idea, Vince!
Jacqueline *to writer*: WTF?
Writer: Get going or you're the next Dawn-Marie to Chavo, Snr's Al Wilson!
Sound of Jacqueline sprinting to the ring.......

Seriously though, I mean you have like 10 other Crusiers who have been on TV for the past year and here comes someone who hasn't been on TV since God knows when and she wins the belt. It's like I know these people can book and have been doing a pretty good job these last couple of months. But, what the hell does this accomplish? Are they tryinh to kill the credibility of the Crusier Title, are they trying to get FK'n Jackie Over? There is no logic what so ever in this move and it just boggles my mind. I can understand if like Jeff Hardy came back and won the belt because these kind of things of happend before, but female wrestlers holding male championships DO NOT WORK VINCE.

You have got to be f</>ucking kidding me. The Cruiserweight Division is the only redeeming value Smackdown has left, and the give the belt to JACQUELINE?! Wasn't she supposed to be on Raw in the first place?

Honestly, I know they want to make Raw look superior to Smackdown (which makes no sense whatsoever, since all that means is they lose money from a shitty SD), but they're really taking it too far. Out of the Mysterios, Guerreros, Kidmans, and Dragons out there, they take it upon themselves to fins the one person nobody f</>ucking wanted to see ever again, and push her over the best cruiserweights in the world. Well, I guess that should be expected from a show where the #1 Contender for the brand's World Title is Bradshaw.

Ferocious

I think Jacqueline will be a very credible cruiserweight champion. What with her high paced matches, Energetic attitude and her superior high flying ability. Come on guys, I'm glad to see her back and more importantly win the title. She will bring credibility back to the cruiser division. No further questions your honour.

Second thoughts WTF is going on behind the scenes. This is possibly the most move WWE have made since the name change. Infact possibly even ever, all of the crusier division ha lost credibility now because quite a few of them havnt been able to take the belt from Chavo and then a woman comes along and does it at the first attempt. And April fools day passed over a month ago

This destroys whatever credibility the Cruiserweight Division has leftafter the Wrestlemania debacle. So a woman who hasn't even managed to dominate her own division comes back to TV and "shocks" the champ who has spent the last few weeks going through every other contender in the division?! WTF!? Why not just put the belt on Fifi? Or Eddie's Mom?

And did I miss something or did they not explain who that hand coming out of the unmarked grave was? Undertaker?....no he was in the ring. Mordecai? Zombie Man? The ghost of Stevie Ray?

It's like the WWE is going out of its way to make Smackdown suck. Maybe Vince hates UPN because he can't land a guest spot on The Parkers.

If only I didn't read the CW title match results, I would say SD looked very good.

I thought they did a great job with Eddie, and making people care about him against Bradshaw at the PPV. Also, the ending with Eddie all fired up sounds awesome.

Taker got to wrestle on TV which at this point is a novelty, so that was good. Not sure about the BT vignettes, but we'll see how they come out on Thurs.

It sounds like Dupree got a major run with the beatdown he put on Cena. I think thats good because it makes Dupree look tough instead of being a French pussy who walks around with a poodle. Adds intensity to the feud, which is again good.

Then you get to the Chavo deal. And its funny, and in this case sad, how one STPUID angle can ruin an otherwise good show. I guess its official they just dont care about the CW title. What so amazing is that Chavo is really over, and instead of capitalizing on that with a series of strong feuds for the CW title they make him look like a joke by losing to a girl. Would they do that with Cena? Would they make Cena lose to say Jazz is she were to show up on SD? Or is Randy Orton in danger of losing the IC title to Torrie (when she replaces Edge) next week on RAW? The answer is of course not, only the CW (which is Latin for joke title) champ gets that treatment. I usually hate to bury an angle before it plays out, but its hard to see how this can turn out good.

The only logical thing I can see out of this, is as someone mentioned make the CW title the new womens title, then maybe Chavo can feud with Cena for the US title. But if Chavo has to work a program with Jackie, well then he's dead in the water, which is so sad. I just hope this isn't punishment for what Chavo Sr did at the Cauliflower Club a while back.

Its so upsetting because there are a ton of other angles that they could have done to waste time. Hell even put a mask on someone like Noble, and then have him accept the challenge as an international superstar, and then beat Chavo. Then he unmasks, and its Noble, and bam you have a feud. Sure its not the greatest, but it blows the Jackie deal out of the water, and doesn't make the CW title look like a joke.

I dont know why these things still shock me.

Oh come on. It's only ever been done once in WWE, and Chyna is a seriously poor example. You can't really count those "blink and you miss them" hardcore reigns enjoyed by a few scattered chicks. I'm not saying that Jacqueline as CW champion is a good idea, because I think it's a pretty bad one, but to make a statement like that based solely on Chyna is a far too quick rush to judgment.

How is it that a female wrestler who hasn't been on TV for over a year can come back and take down the TOP CRUISERWEIGHT IN THE WORLD. That is just pure bullsh**. Jackie is not going to give the title credibility or anything nor is she going to put on good matches, so why give her the dam belt. It makes no sense and just buries all the rest of the crusiers who have been WRESTLING this past year.

I wouldn't mind a woman winning a male title, if, and only if the following apply:

1) She can wrestle just as well as the men.
2) She's massively over, not just on a woman level, but on a wrestler level.
3) She gets pushed as being a credible, legit contender for anything.

I've been in an eFed where a woman won the world title. And you know, it was one of the best moments in their history, because she was a real strong character and had racked up a good bit of wins.

But someone who absolutely sucks all around and hasn't been around in a year?

And when has a women winning a male title ever worked?

Again, when has it ever been TRIED in WWE?! Once again, I think this is a bad idea, but it's more what LC said, the idea of anyone being out of the active lineup for a year, who isn't really over as a wrestler, zooming into the picture and snatching up gold. Why the fact that it's a female bothers everyone is beyond me.

And I still say that Jacqueline needs to move to Raw and become the full-time Women's Division referee.

El Santo
05-05-2004, 05:27 PM
Jacqueline is hardly a cruiserweight, too. Not that I want her going for the US title or anything; if she goes toe to toe with the guys, I think she might be a better fit fighting the Mark Jindraks and Billy Gunns of the world.

A better fit would've been Lita in her prime. Or, hell, Molly Holly. Or maybe Alexis Laree down in OVW. Ah, whatever. The whole thing was a bad idea. (Or is it? THe previous bad idea from WWE was Eugene, and that turned out to be pretty enjoyable. maybe ... jsut maybe ... naaaah.)

What about when one of the god fathers ho's pinned I forget who the champ was and was like champ for a couple minutes? I don't know what to think about this whole Jackie becoming Cruiserweight champ but 2 things I hate

1. It's Jackie

2. She beat him with a low blow come on a ****ing low blow. If they are going to not make that title look like a joke WWE can take two things.

1. Make her lose it to someone like Jeff Hardy, Paul Londen, someone like that next week

or Make her come up with a better finisher.

Well, I just read the spoilers, and I'm kinda speechless. I mean, I didn't even know Jacqueline was still employed by WWE. Damn. But I definitely agree this makes the title look really weak. Here we go now, we know who to blame for this, from 4w-wrestling.com

Last night, Jackie defeated Chavo to win the cruiserweight title. The plans were to bring in Tough Enough 3 winner Matt Cappotelli to face Chavo for the belt, but he suffered a concusion at a house show on 4/24 and was not able to work the match. A last minute decision was made by Stephanie McMahon to make the move of putting the belt on Jackie last night, which alot of people backstage do not like.

In the real world male fans (who make up the majority of the audience) dont want to see women dominate men, at least not in a ring.I'll assume that you're only talking about the MTV Real World show and not bitch you out about that.

In my CWE, I've been doing intergender matches and women holding titles for the entire 4 years I've done it without any known repercussions. Probably the reason being that Anime women aren't looked at as being, well, NORMALn women, but take that for what you will.

I wouldn't mind a woman holding a men's title (really, I've never once heard anyone specify it as a MEN'S Crusierweight title), but at least have it in which it would be a significant run rather than a joke like they are doing here. It would at least give the SD women something to DO rather than be pure eye candy (why they even have women on SD when they really have nothing better for them to do is beyond me).

Although I've seen the RAW women's divison go downhill ever since they've paired Trish with Christian (she was the blood of that division, and they turn her into this slut-type woman who cannot keep her hands off Christian). Sure, it's a good story, but what happened to her title contension? They only have two heels in that run (Gail Kim and Molly Holly), and Trish is made to look like she only cares about getting laid every night. Trish made people CARE about the women's division, and you see the result from the mistakes, but I disgress.

This thing with Jaquie could be good, but I don't count on it. This could be the only blemish on an otherwise decent show (although it at LEAST gets the belt off of Chavo, since, as good as he is, I'm tired of seeing the belt on him as if he's the only viable crusierweight on that brand), but it's a blemish that SD didn't really need at this point.

We all BEG of Vince, or someone, PLEASE realize what he is doing to this brand which has once reigned as the better of the two, and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! He udderly, and single handily is RUINING SD, and he doesn't give a shit about it, maybe even hoping that he is, and everyone in that locker room AND the people who WANT to like SD but can't because if this single-handed MURDER of this brand is more than they can bear. Let's just hope the main event at Judgment Day blows up in Vince's face so he can finally WAKE THE **** UP ALREADY!!

So... Jackie wins the CW title because the wrestler she was taking the place of, Matt Capotelli, was injured at a house show by none other than ... Hardcore Holly. Meanwhile, the decline of the brand can be traced to the day Brock Lesnar decided to leave the WWE for the NFL, because he refused to go to South Africa just to wrestle a match with ... Hardcore Holly.

Let's face it folks... Hardcore Holly is Satan.

No way.

Totally agree. Actually was the writer for an e-fed where a woman went on a major and well-deserved run. If done correctly, with the right worker, and in a believable way you can get a really good reaction. Especially with the cruiserweights, where the strength and weight difference isn't that great.

I have to be honest, I have no clue how an E-Fed works, but I would have to say who the hell cares about an E-Fed when were talking about real life? In the WWE the large majority of fans are male, and men dont like seeing women beat up bigger men.

Look at it this way, how would it look if Laila Ali went 12 rounds and beat Roy Jones JR? Roy would look like a punk, and likely never make another dime in boxing. Ali would get a rub because of the novelty (which doesn't exist in wrestling because they've done this stupid angle many times, and its failed every time) but then if she were to get beat the next week all it would do is kill off Jones Jr as a draw.

In this case you got a guy who was really over and he's lost, not to an elite female wrestler (which would be one thing), but he lost to a bottom feeder from the women's division. And the bottome line is fans will see this as "Chavo lost to a girl", which makes him look like a punk and makes him look weak. Fans have to buy into champions in order for them to draw, but now they'll see Chavo as a joke, just like Jarrett and Jericho looked like a joke losing to Chyna, just like Disco looked like a punk losing to Madusa and so on. The angle has never worked in the past, and why they picked an over guy to kill off is beyond me.

"If you read the SmackDown spoilers, then you now know that Jackie defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. to win the Cruiserweight championship. The original plan called for former Tough Enough 3 winner, Matt Cappotelli, to be brought up and win the title. However, he suffered a concussion at a recent house show and could not compete last night. Word has it that Stephanie McMahon ordered the writers to place the title on Jackie instead. She has been practically begging to wrestle a man on the show for a while now. From what we hear, many on the SmackDown roster believe this is a horrible idea and it will back fire soon."

what is an "E Fed :?:

Vastardikai
05-06-2004, 04:12 AM
what is an "E Fed"?

An E-fed is a community where a bunch of people write stories called "Roleplays", "Spots", "Flashes", or "Promos". The point of such a community is to prove that each member is the best in said community, as judged by a sniveling tyrant of a man or woman known as the fed-head. They tend to be very fun, but don't attempt it if you have something called a social life. It's also a good place to find a horde of whiny bitches.

I could go into more detail, but that'd expose me for an even bigger dweeb than I've already exposed myself to be. :)

Most of the places I frequent (and write in, actually) aren't at all about competition, and everything's predetermined by the writers. Such was the case in the promotion where the female won the title.

In this case you got a guy who was really over and he's lost, not to an elite female wrestler (which would be one thing), but he lost to a bottom feeder from the women's division. Umm... didn't I say that? I think I did... in fact... let's rewind it a little bit.

I wouldn't mind a woman winning a male title, if, and only if the following apply:

1) She can wrestle just as well as the men.
2) She's massively over, not just on a woman level, but on a wrestler level.
3) She gets pushed as being a credible, legit contender for anything.

But someone who absolutely sucks all around and hasn't been around in a year?

No way. So, let's analyze this.

1) She can wrestle just as well as the men.
This is pretty self explanatory.

2) She's massively over, not just on a woman level, but on a wrestler level.
3) She gets pushed as being a credible, legit contender for anything.
These go hand-in-hand. The fans have to buy into her as legit to the point where losing to a woman wouldn't hurt the credibility of a guy.

Is it likely to happen? No, not in the current wrestling product. If it does happen - why shouldn't a woman be given a shot at the title?

I brought up my experiences in a certain e-fed because, in this case, all 3 happened. The character was one of the strongest, she had more than held her own in the promotion for years, and she ascended to become champion. I wouldn't say she was one of the best to ever hold it, but she wasn't one of the worst, and when she won it, it was great. I think the same could happen in WWE.

There are those, as well. I'm used to the old competitive ones, and I kind of prefered them. I remember those kind, but they aren't. I am not sure, I feel like the competition feuled me, and it drained me. Alas, I now just do 3rd rate captions, as the whole thing more or less got too dull and stuff. :(

It's about time the WWe creative team surprised us, and I think it's safe to say that no-one saw this coming!
However, couldn't they have come up with something better than;

No one may have seen the actual match coming but the minute she came out I knew she was going to win

At the state that Smackdown is in, they don't need this. They have enough people not being pushed who deserve to win that title. Even if Tough Enough kid was supposed to be the challenger, they could have made Chavo stronger by having no one challenge him and continue to build him up as if ppl fear him or that everyone in the locker room has already wrestled against him. And besides, Jacquelyn is suppose to be on Raw,so where was that trade. Great work, Steph! Anyways,it could be worse.. like Al Wilson could take the belt.. or FiFi even..well,that might work maybe..
