View Full Version : Alex Shane gave WWE the idea for the attitude era. He has never been credited for this.

was browsin after watching raw.. now i know ive sourced this from wiki, but does any truth lay behind this audacious claim? :wtf:

Alex Shane has said a lot of things. He claimed Nexus was a rip off of his Ascension angle in FWA as well. He's a smart guy but I'd guess you'd have to take it with a pretty big pinch of salt, was probably shitting around with somebody that he knew would take it seriously or something.

all time, current, Brits?

gwaruk
07-24-2012, 12:57 AM
yeah current brits.. devitt? PAC? barrett??

CSL
07-24-2012, 01:04 AM
Barrett's great, DeVitt meh, PAC can do some breathtaking stuff and looks fantastic for a flyer but I can't stand his style but I'm sure if the seemingly-more-true-every-day rumours of him signing with WWE, that'll change and he could have some excellent matches. Best unsigned guys in the country are Spud (best performer/character in the country, a foot too short) Dave Moralez/Mastiff (doesn't have the "WWE look" and is probably too short for a monster/killer role) ermmmmm Zack Sabre Jr.'s actual "wrestling ability" is great, I'm not really a fan/haven't seen much of him recently but Nathan Cruz probably stands a chance if he bulks up, El Ligero is fantastic and most of the All-Star roster I guess, will have forgotten some names that should probably be on there

CSL
07-24-2012, 01:06 AM
then again, WWE takes some guys I'd never think would get signed over certain people (see: Wade Barrett) and turns them into proper "sports entertainers" so god knows

Most likely just lying considering his debut was in 1995 which is the same time the era started and and I doubt Vince or the WWE was listening or scouting the area he was working in at the time.

The Nexus storyline is just a rehash of the NwO and every other invasion type storyline done in the past. Even in terms of using youth wrestlers, WCW did it with the New Blood and WWE did it in the ECW brand when it was the New Breed vs ECW Originals which occurred a few years prior to the Nexus and FWA's Ascension.

CSL
07-24-2012, 01:11 AM
Attitude started in 1997 and that was around the time UWA was on Live TV so there's a minor minor chance somebody in WWE was aware (plus guys send tapes all the time and Alex has always been a great promo) but I'd still says it's highly highly highly doubtful

I know a certain remarkably handsome British guy who the WWE should sign and his name is British Bob Marcowicz

CSL

pffttt British Bob Marcowicz, if we were talking Stately Stanley Wittlesthorpe then we might have something to talk about

Who is alex shane?

British promoter/wrestler/trainer/smart guy/conspiracy theorist/cowboy etc. Promoted TNA's first few Europe tours/had a business relationship with them, put together some of the bigger UK shows featuring imports, runs FWA, was involved in the early days of Ring Ka King etc

Wasn't he booking one of the bigger British promotions a few years back, wanna say 1PW but i might have made that up?

FWA. 1PW had roughly 3,719 bookers in it's lifetime.

Channel 5's use of WCW Worldwide almost gave the impression that they didnt consider wrestling to be as high a calibre of entertainment as Family Affairs, but 1960s Batman was a surefire ratings winner.

Ultra Mantis

They were only in the Channel 5 version, the guy who did the voice over trails also used to make it clear he didn't like wrestling and they were only showing it to be "ironic".
