WEST HOLLYWOOD — Andy Kaufman had said if he were going to
fake his own death he would return 20 years later to the day.

That would be Sunday, May 16th.

So, his pals have rented out the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip
in West Hollywood for that night in hopes he'll show up - along with
paying fans, of course.

Even if Andy Kaufman doesn't show, there will be a night of comedy
- with Rodney Dangerfield, Caroline Rhea, Bob Oedenkirk, Andy Dick,
wrestler Jerry Lawler & Paul Rudd (who plays Phoebe's husband Mike, on "Friends"),and others.

And, Bob Zmuda as Tony Clifton provides the musical entertainment.

Details are at www.comicrelief.org

If he shows, I'll eat this keyboard.

Then I'll call up Owen Hart, Tupac and Elvis for a chat.

Of course, that's Kaufman's style, too. He's a genius.

They were talking about this on Don and Mike today. Zmuda doesn't even honestly think he'll show but it should be good times anyway. I should watch Man on the Moon or something. :y:

Seriously. If he did return and the only thing that reported it was a small blurb on Yahoo... it's probably be best to just stay out of the limelight from now on.

I'd laugh if Kauffman went to jail. Think about it. He finally "comes back" to life. Then the next thing he knows, he's spending a good part of what's left of his life, in jail.

Disturbed316

Isn't it only a crime if you do it as part of an insurrence scam? or something?

Yeah, basically if your only intent is to defraud or something.

The Naitch

He'd probably be the most popular guy in jail anyways, in a non-ass rape kinda way. A win win situation.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if he was still alive. The guy was brilliant in his routines, from the more mundane to the totally crazy. If anyone could pull it off, it'd be Andy.

However, I've not seen enough to make me a believer.

Maybe the joke's on me, I don't care.

Andy Kaufman was a comedic genius. He could pull off a stunt and have the whole world playing right in the palm of his hand. Kaufman was truly a master of provocation.

But Andy Kaufman is also dead. Yeah, he did a lot of things that were tacky, but I doubt he'd be tasteless enough to mock cancer patients. I mean, he's not a McMahon.
