The gold suit is really starting to grow on me. I think it's because as jarring as it was when I first saw it, I still disliked the ugly, bulky silver bits on his previous two armors much worse.

Helps that the new one has a pretty slick design, and looks quite a bit like the Bleeding Edge armor, which is tits.

Read your blog by the way. Do Sony and/or Universal have indefinite rights to Fantastic Four, Spiderman, X-men, etc? Would be a damn shame to not see all those characters together at some point. Especially if they do something based around the Civil War or Skrull Invasion.

Fox (X-Men, FF) and Sony (Spidey) have them for the foreseeable future. Thing is, the movies are actually successful, and they've done right by them for the most. It's a double-edge sword in that in order for these characters to come back home, we'd have to suffer massive box office failures. Not merely critical failures (Spidey 3, X3/Origins), but straight out bombs. Neither studio really messed up that bad yet.

At least Fox is prepping very cool X-Men and FF stuff right now, and Sony may expand things with a Venom movie at least. Also, of the two, Sony seems to be willing to allow little things like the Oscorp tower that barely missed showing up Avengers last year.

I think from a narrative standpoint, which is very important, Sony's new Spidey universe is 'open' enough to entertain the idea that it resides in the MCU. While much more explanations would be needed to reconcile Fox's X-Movie-verse with what went down with Marvel.

Now, something like Civil War can be done without Spider-Man - because the chief players are there and enough thematic bits have already been laid (namely the riff between Tony and Steve). Skrulls can similarly be regulated to FF movies (special note, slight possibly of Fox merging their FF rebooted universe with X-Men).

Shit like Siege and AvX would require every-fucking-body and a lot of paper work so that's not happening.

Fox had a deadline to fast track a DD movie last year and they tried their damndest to get something rolling but missed the mark and I THINK DD is back at Fox by now. DD is a package deal that comes with Bullseye, Kingpin, Elektra, and the Hand ninja clan. It's important to note the co-stars and rogues gallery that these deals take with them.

I think Blade and Punisher returned home for sure. And I think once Marvel gets these characters back, they're WAY less likely to hand them out again.

Mixed feelings for this one. On the downside, IM3 doesn't have the 'WOW' factor that the Avengers, Thor, and even Iron Man 1 gave you after leaving the theater. There aren't a lot of memorable dialogues or set pieces.

Having said that, what you will remember is the chemistry between RDJ and the young kid, and every scene with Paltrow. Pepper Potts is literally, hotter than ever before. And of course, all the swerves that occur, especially the one featuring Ben Kingsley. RDJ is still in top form as Tony Stark.

IMO, what didn't help the movie was the fact that it comes after The Avengers. It does its job as an Iron Man film, but it really isn't essential viewing as the first phase movies were, all building up to the Avengers. The post-credits scene is a sketch, and in hindsight, feels like a letdown.

But, the big question is where does the character and the IM universe go from here? And i can see why Paltrow said that 'there may not be an IM4'. I've never read the comics, so does the end mirror a storyline from there? If so, direct me to it?

As a comic fan, not too crazy about this as a superhero movie - but this is a very good action movie that had late 80s vibes in it.

I went to see it today. I was more excited by the 2 minute Star Trek trailer than the whole of the film. Though I always think RDJ is great in the films, I am always kinda disappointed with every other aspect.

Plus, I haven't seen the Avengers film so I don't know what they are talking about in regards to "New York," but that did not necessarily detract from me experiencing the film as a separate entity.

But that's where it gets kinda meta doesn't it? The trailers and interviews painted this ultimate villain who's the ultimate terrorists in universe. We all fell for Killians scheme, his smoke and mirrors. It works on so many levels and Shane Black IS the kind of director who'd foresee that.

I'm kinda sorry to see Pepper's RESCUE persona was exaggerated (oh ye internet), but it seems she leaves the movie with new powers. That may lead to something in the greater scheme of things.

And hell yeah to the Unibeam kill.

If a billionaire celebrity can embrace putting on a facade and being a good guy, it makes perfect sense for the bad guys to embrace the idea of putting out a face of their own and embracing the Hollywood aspect.

It had the unenviable task of following Avengers, but it was every bit as good as any of the Phase I solo films. It might actually be my favorite solo yet. The ending confrontation was obviously not what I went in expecting, but it was every bit as satisfying as the anticipated showdown would have been. Really great work, and RDJ was spectacular as always.

I liked it but I really didn't walk away with the awesome feeling I had from the first movie. IMO its better than the 2nd but the first one is still the best.

I think it sets a status quo; about how the world feels after New York. Killian's remarks about why he did what he did was interesting (regarding his Thor reference). Things have changed. The bad guys may not feel a need to pussy foot around anymore.

I think we will see the president again in Cap 2, and Killian seemed like he had a Disney death, kinda ambiguous to me. Maybe the next time we see him, if he lived, he'll just be a mental organism designed only for killing.

I'm drunk now so take all that as silly speculation.

Solid film. Better than 2, probably not as good as 1. Lot more humour then I expected. Loved when the henchmen was like "I don't even wanna work here. They are so weird". Wasn't much into the increased Pepper Potts presence as I'm not a huge fan of Paltrow in general, and some of the stuff with Tony and that kid threatened to rot my teeth, so saccharine it was. Also would've liked more Rhodey/Stark duo time because they're fantastic together.

Regarding the Mandarin:
I dug the twist. Kingsley was hilariously in that reveal scene. I love how comic book movies nowadays have so much more freedom to adapt the source material, and don't see it all as sacred stuff not to be touched. I found myself liking Killian as the villain a lot more than I thought I would. Guy Pearce does great with it.

Now, that said, in no way am I absolutely convinced we actually saw what we saw. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Kingsley return and reveal that the Master was playing everyone.

I have imagined that 'Tyler', who may well go free as he was a hostage technically and did no wrong, probably tries to keep his fame and totally dives into the Mandarin character. For real. He does have followers, like minds don't know any better, or perhaps he can simply gain new ones by running something himself. Hell, perhaps he'll get actual powerful rings to wear - a gift from Thanos perhaps? There's a lot of places he can go, though he can rest as a perpetual comedic character in the MCU if he ever returns.

I personally would love to see him take his act to Asgard.
