Name your #1 favorite game of all time, and why it is. This is actually a hard choice for many people so I do not expect it to fill up quickly. Think about it long and hard, then put somethind down. People dont ridicule others please, because whatever game they put down is there opinion. This is meant for people to express their favorite game and why that is, not for people to name a game and have to argue why it is good. I will start with my favorite game.

FF3/6-Snes/Playstation

I expect many people to want to list this game. Why not? I believe it to be the greatest game made of all time. This game started it all. It shadowed the previous two ff's just because of its shear awesomeness. It was the first FF rpg to include both a major subplot/minor subplot and a plot for every character. There were some points in this game that made my super have to actually work. It pushed that 16 bit graphics to the limit. This game also had an amazing story. Its a game that is hard to put down, hard to stop playing. People still play it over emulators almost 10 years after it was made. I have never met a person who didnt like it after they played it; and if they didnt like it, it was cause they just didnt like rpg's altogether. I could name so many more things about this game, but I want to keep the post short. Have fun guys, cant wait to see the posts

So many to list.

But if I have to choose, I would have to go with Twisted Metal 2.

I had so much multiplayer fun on that one.

Final Fantasy Tactics.

I really wish Square-Enix would put some actual stock in this franchise. This game was awesome. I hear alot of "oh this FF game was good, but this one sucked." "yeah right, that game was awesome, it's way better than that FF game." But almost everyone I know that played it, has enjoyed Tactics. You could convince guys to join you, steal people's shit, break their shit, long range weaponry actually significantly differed from melee, and area of effect and casting time on magic truly made all these aspects matter, and added depth to the strategy. The plot was simple enough and not as over the top as most of the previous FF games, so I truly enjoyed it.

Granted, the game lacked alot of options that would have made it truly amazing. It also had some annoying aspects, but this game was just so much damn fun. I would give anything for a true sequel or several sequels.

Oh I couldn't begin to think up of one. It changes so much. I guess I'll pick one right now, than a week later, look back at this thread and smack myself for overlooking other games. But uhhh, for right now, I might have to go with Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Good choice on the tactics....I also loved that game. I had one problem with it. I saved the game right before you fight that one guy 1v1 and if you kill him he turns into some big demon and then you party battle. I cant beat that ****ing guy. I restarted my whole game and tried to get myself higher to fight him...didnt work for me. I killed the guy 1 time in 1v1. Then when it got to the demon guy, he ****ed my world up with cyclops summon...ahh it was horrible. Anyways, awesome game though. If you like games like tactics, I suggest you playing vandal hearts 1 or 2 they are both good if you havent tried them already.

Hmmmmm I dunno, there's a few that really stand out in my head.

In terms of just sheer amount of time sucked out of my life, Diablo II. Addicting as hell trying to just level and MF and all that fun stuff. Many many school days were phoned in sick due to this game. :$ IT CONTROLLED MY LIFE. Haven't played it in about 2 months though, but it's cyclical like that... I'm sure in about 4 months I'll probably give it a few more spins.

Sim City 3000 is another one... just one of those games where I'd go upstairs for dinner to eat "right after I finished zoning this industrial sector".... 3 hours ago. I don't know what it is about the game, but it just sucks me right in. I become so involved with it, it's insane. It's one of those games that can totally kill any amount of time, and probably my favourite single-player PC game in existance. What I love about the game too is that it's just so... original. It's not "just your typical FPS", or "another RTS game" or anything. It's in its own genre almost, and it's totally unlike any other type of game (besides the other "Sim" games that were spawned off it) Reason I chose 3000 is because the advances over 2000 are majorly significant, and I just didn't get into SC4 for whatever reason. It's just too "small", the area you work in. :o

Now if we're going to go into console games, it'd be a hard-fought battle between NHL 2003 and Final Fantasy 3/6. NHL is simply ****ing fun as hell to play. That's all there is to it. 2004 has some nice advances over it, but 2003 just seems more fast-pace.

FF6 is just more of a personal one. It was the first game that I truly "got into". Back when I had my NES I had the original Final Fantasy game and thought it was pretty fun and all. I was one of those kids that never had an SNES, until I was like 14. Every single day I wished I had an SNES. My friend would always rent FF6, so I played it a lot, and I loved it. I wanted an SNES just so I could have this game. One night I was just surfing on the 'net and I saw this one site that had a "Final Fantasy 3 ROM". I had no idea what that was at the time, so I checked it out, and found out that you could... *gasp* ... play SNES games on your PC  That was seriously like, the happiest day of my life. I downloaded it and played the game to death on my trusty pentium 120. Oh yeah. I never did own the actual cartridge, because even know it sells for like $35 US in stores. Crazy. One day I will buy it, just for the personal feeling of it. But yeah, it's probably my favourite game just because it has that "bond" with me or whatever. :o The music in it is just so ****ing brilliant, you can actually connect with the silly little 16-bit pixels by it. Celes' theme is still my favourite piece of video game music ever. Mog is the biggest ****ing bad-ass ever to grace any television ever, as well.

Starcraft. Probably the most addicting computer game that I've ever played.

As for gaming consoles, probably Zelda: Ocarine of Time for N64. I had so much fun with that game.

Honorable mentions include: 007 Nightfire for Gamecube, GTA 3 for PS2, the original Mario Bros. for Nintendo, and Super Mario 64.

Holy shit there are some good games mentioned already - paricularly FF tactics and Championship Manager and Civilisation 2.

If we include patches and mods (CS, TFC) I would have to go with Half Life.

Tecmo Super Bowl - I've played this since i was 12 or so, and i'm 24 now. It just never gets tiresome playing through a season and all the stats and stuff.

Also vega don't know if u got xbox or not, but isn't that some shit that they don't have same system multiplayer for counterstrike. I saw some guys trying to buy it at the video game store and was like 'hey you know you gotta do system link for multiplayer' . They got all mad and were like "are you serious " and threw the game back on the shelf.

A three way tie betwwen FF Tactics, Streets Of Rage 2, and Road Rash 2. I'll admit to hating Tactics the first time I played it, only because I'd never played anything like it before. Once I got into the job classes, I was addicted. Once I figured out how to create my own job classes, I couldn't stop playing. At one point, I was so addicted to Streets of Rage 2, I rented it every single week for 3 months straight. Road Rash 2 has the same quality, and me and my sister played the co-op mode for hours on end. I've been looking for a copy of it for years.

Streets of Rage 2  Ha that big muscle guy was the best u just had to do the double hammer thing and nobody could touch you, he was one slow motherfu</>cker though.

And any game where u can twat people round the heat with lead pipes and swords was the goods back in the day, especially when u were roasted

i like sim city 3000, but the elimination of archologies from 2000 killed it for me. 4 finally gave me the ability to build different classes of cities (industrial, high tech, tourist, etc), so i play it now.

my favorite game of all time is actually civilization: call to power (from activision, sid meir can kiss my ass). it is by far the most intricate game i have ever played with the widest variety of technologies across the broadest range of time. it is truely amazing and is the only reason i haven't completely abandoned the windows platform (i have stockpiled 4 copies of it for when it will no longer be sold). the sequel to it made some improvements, but they took away too much, so the original is still my favorite.

10six for the PC. Perfect hybrid of First-Person Shooting and Real Time Strategy.

Shame that hardly anyone played it, and it only lasted a few years. Sega cut the cord on it almost 2 years ago. I still miss it.
