View Full Version : Is Rikishi an IWC legend?

Highly regarded TPWW poster Keith brought this up in another thread, and I thought I'd ask for people's thoughts on things.
Rikishi became a legend thanks to this angle.
Well, at least a IWC legend.
"I did it for The Rock" still resonates in our hearts.
In your mind as a proud member of the IWC, is Rikishi a legend in your mind, or do you find yourself using that quote (if any of you actually do) as more of a piss take than a homage. Discuss.

Not a legend merely a meme for us IWC people.

No. He's a fat ass who got over b/c he danced. Might as well call Brodus Clay a legend too.

No. What is a legend is The Rock mocking Rikishi saying "I did it for The Rock."

In fact it is the first result on youtube when you search for "I did it for The Rock"

Well it's not like there are a ton of other things it could be.

Could be Rikishi saying it. Or this:

He is an IWC legend in the same way that Gangrel and Val Venis are IWC legends.

Desmond would've been a much better outcome for the angle than Rikishi.
But nah, the "I did it for The Rock" thing is just a pisstake. I don't think anybody disliked Rikishi, but I also don't recall ever seeing anybody mention that he's a favourite of theirs. He's just kind of there.

I liked Gangrel and Val Venis.
Gangrel had the greatest entrance in the history of sports entertainment. When that music hit, I knew he was getting his ass kicked, but damn if he wasn't cool as fuck coming up thru the fire and be-boppin to the beat while walking to the ring.

I mean, me saying Rikishi is a legend?

The phrase is legandary among those who witnessed it back then, though.

I loved Rikishi. He could've been a mega heel but they turned him into a bumbling idiot who still wore a thong even though he was supposed to be a scary bad guy.

It's too late to play the sarcasm card, you plenty of prior opportunity.

I did say an IWC legend, not a professional wrestling legend or future Hall of Famer.
So I stand by my statement.

The distinction between being an IWC legend and being a professional wrestling legend had to be reemphasized.

He does have some of the hallmarks of an IWC legend.
Like nobody really caring about him.

Not an IWC Legend.

Which IWC legend would do more damage to Raw as champion: CM Punk or Rikishi?

The IWC loves Rikishi because he's one of the few who outweighs them.
Keith

He outweighs the IWC, but he's still more agile!
