View Full Version : What is today's version of Rock vs. Austin?

Rock vs. Austin was THE rivalry. It all blew it's load at WrestleMania X7. Once WWE busted it's nut, the decline of WWE began to manifest

So what is today's equivalent of Austin/Rock? Have we yet to see it? IS it still lurking in the shadows?

Cena vs. Punk?

If not, which two superstars have the potential to make a rivalry that would rival the epic Austin vs. The Rock saga?

Nothing remotely close, and nothing remotely close in the future.

Nothing comes close but I would offer for discussion HBK vs Undertaker. I know it's not CURRENT but it's as close to current as I can imagine.

Rock Austin is unique, they were two wrestling mega stars at the peak of their (in ring) fame

There's not one person who's at the same level at them, in terms of marquee value anyway, let alone two.

The closest we have today is Cena vs. Punk, but they've got a different dynamic, of course.

Cena/Punk is the closest, but it lacks continuity. They just drop it off and pick it up when needed, and that's one of the reasons why it hasn't reached Rock/Austin status.
