Not sure I like Foxx for Electro, so his look is kind of moot to me. Maybe he'll be good in it, but I doubt it.

Otherwise, looking forward to this.

I feel while Mr. Freeze pushed it, most elemental or otherwise obviously themed heroes/villains often have some kind of pun to throw out. If Elector said that line I think he should be allowed to. At least 2 or 3 puns, let him have fun.

I'ma have to agree with Kalyx:

Plus, a few of Freeze's jokes weren't even jokes. Or puns.

"What killed the dinosaurs? THE ICE AGE!"

lololol it has ice in it so it's funny. :|

I have a feeling the score will now be better than the film itself.

I don't mind the Rhino thing. It's not typical Rhino, but at least it looks relatively realistic. Granted it's only still pictures, but on everything I've seen of Electro, the CGI looks no better than a video game released 10 years ago.

Kalyx triaD

Elektro looks cool, I like the glowy effect. I would have had Rhino in a bipedal mech but whatever, never cared for Rhino like that. I'm gonna assume the guy on the glider is Hob Goblin and not an Osborn.

Are people moaning about the "3" villains all that much? I haven't really read much outside of this thread. The comment I made further up was more about a similarity thematically rather than a "3 villains = bad".

Kalyx triaD
12-06-2013, 05:15 PM
Thanks for reading, btw.

Are people moaning about the "3" villains all that much?

Yes. It's even the point of a Kotaku article, aside from the comments and posts by users on various sites.

I haven't really read much outside of this thread. The comment I made further up was more about a similarity thematically rather than a "3 villains = bad".

I read a great deal since the trailer dropped. I'd tell you to check out the reactions personally but I rather not point you toward a landmine field. But trust that I didn't make a whole blog from you a three other other comments found online. And even before the trailer there was such a sentiment over the Spidey 3 matter. For many people, it certainly seems like "3 villains = bad".

I would have to disagree over the thematic similarities but that's not nearly as vexing as what the blog is about.

Lock Jaw
12-06-2013, 07:38 PM
3 villains isn't necessarily bad, but Harry Osborn's hair sure is. Peter Parker's too.

Sixx
12-06-2013, 07:59 PM
So, from Kalyx'(s?) blog:

It’s very unlikely that if Sony considered Spidey 3′s failures on too many villains that they’d mindlessly walk into that trap so soon into the reboot series. I’m gonna trust them on this.

How could a film company consider anything about Spiderman 3 a failure?

It made money. It made more money than either of the previous parts. A total success.

Kalyx triaD
12-06-2013, 08:15 PM
They wouldn't consider it a failure. But I didn't wanna play the box office card. I rather say why I like Transformers Dark of the Moon rather than say, "It made a shit-ton of money your argument is invalid."

Sixx
12-06-2013, 08:22 PM
Now that I think about it, that seems to be a pattern.

X3 made the most money of the whole trilogy, too.

Guess that people expect a lot after you deliver two solid movies.

Kalyx triaD
12-06-2013, 08:33 PM
Yeah that's been a thing, but these third movies have had polarizing critical reception. While they do make money, the studio does take any issues into account.

I really enjoyed this film, but then was a massive fan of the first. I think this reboot captures perfectly the tragedy and comedy of Peter Parker's life. Like the different universe's in the comics, this one will appear more to some and some will think its meh. Personally I really like all the links they are weaving in the characters and the green goblin story and emergence is fascinating.

I really liked the first one. Like, a lot. I never cared for the original. Thought it was highly overrated. I bought into Garfield as Peter Parker immediately. Not to mention, he and Emm Stone have through the roof chemistry.

Fearing this one may be a bit overstuffed with 3 villians. But I guess it depends on how they use them and I'll wait to see it in theaters to judge the idea. But so far, I like what I see. I like that Harry LOOKS like a goblin there. Much more comic book like. And I love we can see his face.

We shall see. It's getting a solid nod critically, as did its predecessor, so I have hopes I will enjoy this. Also, just throwing this out there, but fuck me, what a great year of movies we are witnessing. Cap 2, X-Men sequel, Spidey sequel, God-fucking-zilla, and Guardians. Christ we are living in a golden age.

This movie is very long, but not because of the villains. This is also something of a musical... or something. Music stood out to me. Electro's theme is catchy and ominous.

There were parts I liked about this and parts I did not. Could have done without the whole mystery of Richard Parker and just had him find out about the Oscorp stuff through Gwen or something. Richard has never been a huge factor in Spidey's life and with them making Ben such an important figure in the first one this just felt unnecessary.

Liked Electro, wish the Goblin had more time after becoming the Goblin, looking forward to more Paul Giamotti.

Some things were outright ridiculous. Like Gwen was able to cut webbing off with a nail file or pocket knife or something and then the dead guard holding up the key the giant lock.

RoXer
05-03-2014, 10:40 PM
I'm really glad to know that I'm not fucking crazy...

When Electro made his first appearance, the music was dumb and out of place. It was voices (presumably his) talking over the music telling us Electro's thoughts.

I swear to god the first thing I thought of when I heard/saw this was "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses: The Movie" from the Britanick dudes where you hear a whispering "Eagle and Human are about to fight". Except this wasn't in a comedy video, it was in a summer blockbuster in a scene that isn't supposed to be funny.

And then, I'll be damned if I didn't see one of the guys IN THE VERY NEXT SCENE as an innocent bystander.

What a strange like.... I don't know what you would call that. Shoutout? I guess?

My point is, his inner monologue came off very weird and it made me think of Britanick and maybe it was supposed to because he was in the very next scene.

I enjoyed the movie. Would rather have had less mystery of richard parker. Every scene Spidey interacted with a kid was absolutely gold. I don't know why, but Andrew Garfield is amazing with the kid actors. There has been a ton of heart written into him. Think back to the kid he gave his mask to in the last movie, and the two interactions in this movie was purely amazing.

Also pretty funny to see Electro playing the itsy bitsy spider when he was fucking up Pete

Not Comic movie ever- just out of the 5 Spider-Man movies. Overall it was the most "Holy shit! That's SPIDER-MAN!" feeling when the action hit. The way he swings and fights is just awesome to watch.

You need to get over that, they already planned the next two - with two other spin-offs outside of that.

Why does he have to get over that? Because you want him too? It's too fucking soon. They are only doing it because the Avengers movie series is kicking their asses and it's the only marque superhero Columbia Pictures/Sony/Whoever they are has.

What are the spin-offs going to be?

Not horrible but not good either. The story kind of just muddles along, nothing is really memorable and the villains are half developed. The cast is good and hold the thing together and there are some good/emotional scenes. 5/10

He needs to get over it because it's happening, my feelings be damned. Why it's happening doesn't matter - get used to the Amazing movie-verse because it's the only Spidey you're getting on the big screen.

Sinister Six and Venom are being fast tracked for features, with a possible Amazing 3 in between.

I really fucking liked this movie. Prefer this trilogy (so far) over the original one, it's more fun.

Peter Parker/Spiderman is way better than the Toby Maguire one, funnier and more true to the comic book. Yeah, plot was kinda dumb, but I still had fun.

But ugh, Green Goblin. Like that actor wasn't creepy enough without make-up.

just watched both of these a few days ago. i'm with you all the way. i've enjoyed this series far more than the original. two felt like a bit of a drop from one, but i'd imagine three will be pretty bad ass. looking forward to it.

Same here. Just felt Rhino was an afterthought in here.

Watched this one a few days ago as well. The Electro stuff was decent, the Rhino stuff was pretty funny, and the Goblin/Osborne stuff was garbage.

I dont't think they are good as The Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

However I do feel that these Spider-Man movies could be underrated. Needs a little more time till I can come to the official decision.

Neither of the Amazings touched Raimi's Spidey 2, imo.

This.

That movie captured the atmosphere of the comic perfectly, where as the Amazing movies while fun, just feel like your every day CG fest superhero movie.

The Raimi trilogy had a unique feel to it. These don't. Still good though.

Spidey vs Doc Ock Tower/Train fight is still my favorite movie fight ever.

I feel like the "Amazing" series has the better Spider-Man, and Raimi's series had the better Peter Parker, origin, villains....

I watched them both a few days ago too. The first one was better than I remembered, and I didn't hate the second one. The Electro stuff was really cheesy and not very well developed, but on the whole it was better than I was expecting. Not the worst superhero film I've watched this year anyway (Man of Steel)
