There was a commercial for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly DVD I believe. In it they said, and I quote, "Own the best directed movie of all time."

Those shilling bastards.

They are right, but they shouldn't cheapen this movie like that.
I thought Unforgiven was very well directed as well. Another was a German war movie Stalingrad.

Hard to say.

I'd say Frances Ford Coppola and The Godfather Part II

Awesome flash backs from Past to Present. Along with great angles, acting, scenery, etc.

Yeah Stalingrad is a good movie, but I don't remember the directing too much.

I'm not a person who watches a movie and says "that's good directing". In fact if I did say "that's good directing" it would probably be at the wrong time :(

It's not eace being an idiot.

i agree with hero, i think it even states on the newly re-release dvd of good, bad, and ugly that tarantino thinks it's the best directed of all time. it does combine many great ellements to make an absolutely fantastic film.

Why do you think it's so well directed, Hero?

The story in TGTB&TU goes in many directions through out the film. The original plot changes as the movie and characters evolves. Throughout this movie you see some epic scenes, each reveal small hints that drive the movie forward, they aren't compacted. The story is well told even while the diaologe in the film is minimal.

In a way this films unfolds like a Tarantino film. Not as much 'jumbled' as his style, but it's interesting that da_king stated he, Tarantino likes the directing of the film. Maybe this is the movie that formed his later style.
