View Full Version : CM Punk should return at Wrestlemania

Switzerland

So, many of you are familiar with Gertner's brilliant idea of having Bryan face Triple H at Mania for a chance to enter the Main Event with Batista VS. whomever then winning the title. That should definitely happen and it would be awesome to see Bryan then get a super-push for the next three-four months even when losing the title.

We should see Brock VS. Lesnar (edit: lol, i meant Undertaker) for Wrestlemania in a Career VS. Career/Streak match, with Punk off-TV and making appearances with ROH and indie shows around the country to cement that he's done with Vince.

Then, after the third Tombstone of the night and surviving a hell of a lot of punishment Undertaker makes an exhausted pin on Brock. The lights go out. When they come back Punk is in the ring standing in front of a confused Undertaker. GTO. F5. Brock ends the streak. Everybody hates Punk and his super-heel turn. Undertaker's streak ends on a super sour and controversial note, everybody hates Punk and Brock.

Super-heel Punk stays clear of Bryan for a few months just pissing off the fans doing ridiculous shit like attacking DDP and hitting him with the Diamond Cutter. Just absurdly evil asshole stuff. So when Super-face Bryan finally feuds with him the internet explodes and the fans go nuts for Bryan to teach Punk a lesson. They feud until Rumble and Bryan goes over Punk in a Career VS. Career match. The End.

CM Punk should return in the main event, but before he gets a chance to enter the ring, every part time wrestler appears from under the ring and starts pointing and laughing at him, making crybaby gestures and just generally mock his whinging personality.

I have this strange feeling that we might see CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania.

Punk makes an unexpected return at Elimination Chamber and interferes in the main-event match. He ends up screwing over Bryan.

Here ya go: built in feud, don't even need much storyline

Cowboy Bill Watts walks down the ring. The announcer are puzzled by this. Cowboy Bill Watts picks up a mic and states that "he's glad to be back in New Mexico as this place has gave him so many memories".

All of a sudden he gets shot with an arrow. Tatanka appears. He calls Bill Watts out for robbing his people of his land and challenges him to a match at Wrestlemania!

Cowboy Bill Watts vs Tatanka

Oh and CM Punk is a whiny bitch and I'm good with him never coming back.

There's little to nothing for him to do at Mania at this point. He needs to just take his time off and decide if this is for him. He's at a company where he's essentially hit his apex, there's nothing left for him to do.

No, he needs to end Undertaker's streak and become part of the Authority, then feud with Bryan in a Best of 5 Series culminating at Wrestlemania 31.

Switzerland
03-10-2014, 05:25 PM
Scenario: Undertaker kicks out of the F5, Brock goes for a Shooting Star Press and misses, Undertaker gets him with the Tombstone for a 2 count, then Cult of Personality hits. Punk comes from out of the crowd grabs a chair, kicks him in the head, smacks him across the back with the steel chair then drops it nearby. GTS into an F5 onto the steel chair for the 3 count. Lesnar and Punk finish it off.

Monday night we see Kane kicked out of the Authority for failing to prevent Triple H from losing to Bryan and we see an unholy alliance between Heyman's guys and the Authority.

Next PPV we see classic Kane and Undertaker VS. Punk and Lesnar. After losing Taker vanishes until Rumble where he puts his career on the line against Punk. It takes a GTS, Sweet Chin Music, an F5 and a pedigree to finally do it and Undertaker goes out in spectacular fashion. After the match he and Kane chokeslam everyone while Bryan tortures them with the Yes-lock. Undertaker does his retirement speech the end.

Here's the thing, for me, maybe not other armchair bookers (Noid? Want in on this?) the idea of ending the streak captures the imagination. I personally am uninterested in preserving the streak and allowing Undertaker to retire with it.

How would you go about doing that, anyhow? Undertaker winning his own retirement match? How would you write that?

I could see Bryan winning, but Triple H beating him up after the match as someone suggested and nobody expects Bryan to make it to the main event. The main event starts off slow with Orton vs Batista and everyone is booing. Suddenly Bryan runs out to a huge pop and enters the match. Bryan has someone lined up for the running knee when Triple H comes out again and tries to screw Bryan only to have Punk run out of the crowd and attack Triple H. Punk takes Triple H out of the match, but Batista goes for the Batista Bomb only to have Bryan counter it and hit the running knee, 1-2-3. Bryan and Punk have a Guerrero/Benoit moment hugging while confetti rains down. Yes chant, and that's how WM ends. Smarks wet dream that won't happen like that? Probably. Bryan winning has a good chance but the pop Punk would get after running in with street clothes ala Roddy Piper at WM IX would be amazing.

Switzerland
03-11-2014, 10:16 AM
Triple H needs to be taken out for the rest of the night for this to mean a lot. If Bryan just surprises him with a roll-up pin and he comes out later as a monster I think it would suck.

Triple H VS. Bryan has to be a classic. Both men need to give it everything. That way when Bryan heads into the Main Event it's like when Terry Funk beat Sandman and Stevie Richards, then immediately faced a fresh Raven for the title.

Great dynamic, the fans in the crowd go insane and everybody gets an awesome Wrestlemania moment.

Ending the streak isn't compelling? I mean obviously there is no good match that would be compelling at this point, but "nothing compelling" is a bit much. They could do a lot with him that would make him interesting again.

Even a return by HBK and challenge at Wrestlemania would be just another match with no real payoff, honestly, but having him be a part of the ending of the streak would serve a major purpose.

Punk will return eventually though I don't think it will be at Mania and if he does it would be to interfere with the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar match I suspect in retaliation against Heyman leading to another Punk and Brock feud.

As for Daniel Bryan I think it is obvious what is going to happen but the question is how exactly will it happen? I do see Triple H and his cronies getting involved trying to cost Daniel Bryan the match whether this be Kane, the NAOs etc. Bryan will be helped out by the faces who have been victims of the Authority over the course of the last few months Cena, Big Show, Ziggler maybe Sheamus in there too leaving Bryan to put the yes lock on Batista who will tap out and then all the faces celebrate together in the ring. It will be like Starrcade 1997 when all the faces celebrated with Sting.

Whilst I do want to see the Authority storyline wound down at some point it would nice to have an old fashioned faction v faction feud to end I.e. The Authority led by Triple H with the heels vs The yes movement led by Daniel Bryan with the faces.

I also wonder if Hulk Hogan might play some kind of role in the main event? Though he can't wrestle anymore nothing stopping him punching Triple H or Orton in the face, leg drop may be a bridge too far?

I think we've all accepted that the streak will never end. It would be stupid to end it now at such an advanced stage and honestly I don't think there's anyone worthy of ending it. Maybe had there been Taker v Hogan at their prime before we even spoke about streaks or Sting ten years earlier. The streak is very much part of the Undertaker's aura and to end it IMO would take away a part of what has made the character iconic in wrestling terms.

It would be great if he could wrestle more than just once a year then perhaps having him drop a match or two in dubious circumstances would be manageable.

Also all this talk about Punk not being a main eventer strictly speaking he has never closed out WM but on the other hand he was world champ for god knows how long so I don't think he can complain about not being given the spotlight.

In retrospect I would have had him win the Royal Rumble but then I don't think big Dave would have agreed to comeback just to lose. Another option would have been to have Bryan win the Rumble and really build the whole underdog story. Mind they still have the story as it is but it kind of denigrates the whole winning the rumble for a spot on the wm main event thing if it was going to be made into a triple threat match. For me the wm main event should always be a world title singles match between the rr winner and the champion.

I don't see ending the greatest wrestling angle of all time and giving massive heel heat to Punk and Lesnar as being stupid.

I asked this before, how do you end Undertaker's career without ending the streak? Do you end it at Rumble? Do you have him retire without losing? What's the great storyline that ends Undertaker? I can't think of a good reason not to end the streak since it is synonymous with the man himself.

Undertaker can't keep doing this forever even at one match a year. So where and how do you say goodbye?

When he retires he retires. There doesn't need to be a fanfare about it or anything.

The streak won't end at wm30. Not when they have Sting waiting to be unleashed and potential match with undertaker which would be a no sell without the streak.

I'm just going to point out that Vince says a lot of shit all the time that turns out to not be true.

I think it's a little odd storylinewise for people to think it makes sense for the streak to remain intact with Undertaker retires.

Nobody really knows that. If anyone claims to know that they're talking out their ass. I am guessing you'd boo Punk though if he helped ruin the streak with Lesnar.

Taker knows what's best for business. I'd like to think that if the streak were to end, the person to end it would be elevated massively. I'm sure Taker wouldn't mind it as long as it wasn't pointless in the long run.

Nobody wants the streak to end in a pointless manner, in fact a lot of people are really passionate about keeping it intact, which is exactly why they need to end it. Pissing off wrestling fans is just as important as making them happy.

I say end the streak as I mentioned, give the fans their Bryan wins and it'll be the most talked about, most watched, most pirated PPV in history.

Damian Rey
03-15-2014, 12:12 PM
The streak ending on a run in is lame. You're directing the potential heat/moment from the guy who pins Taker to the guy who committed the run in and cost the match. I think that's what you're getting at right? Punk running in and costing Taker the streak?

I wouldn't boo Punk. I'd boo WWE for making Taker's loss a clusterfuck.

BY the time Summer Slam rolls around, who knows what will be happening. But there is no room for him at the moment. Coming back before Summer Slam to reenter the Authority feud or even get built back up to face a heel Batista at Summer Slam, potentially for the title, could be a big deal. Whenever he does come back, Mania is not the place. There's nobody for him to be inserted into a feud with.

You say you wouldn't boo Punk and Lesnar, but both of them would agree to it. Punk's good enough to rub it in the smark fans face and let them know he does not give a fuck about them or anything they like. You would boo until you couldn't boo anymore.

I don't think the streak should end because of all the guys who have already lost to the Undertaker.

Another reason to end it.

The more people want it to stay, the better it will be when it ends. Wrestling hasn't managed to really piss anyone off in a long time, outside of Bryan not being in the Royal Rumble and that anger and dissatisfaction has only drawn more people into watching.

This is pretty much the same sentiment that people had for Cena at One Night Stand, I imagine the reaction to a lame Punk run-in/swerve/heel turn at Mania would break decibel records for all the fans booing and screaming at the streak ending on a sour note. It'll be NWO heat where fans throw trash in the ring and some old guy jumps the railing to try to get at Lesnar or Punk. Would be amazing.

I forgot that the WWE stole Gertner's idea.
