So if you could choose one currently active man that would represent an "American Wrestler" who would it be? Would it be someone who is a physical specimen like John Cena or Orton? Would it be someone who is a smaller man but is a master technician like Austin Aries or Daniel Bryan? Would you go the complete opposite and go with someone completely massive like Big Show or Mark Henry?

I can only think of one person who fits the package of not just an "American Wrestler," but of an "American." And I dare anyone, and lord do I mean ANYONE, to prove otherwise.

If Kurt Angle hadn't failed at life, I imagine him and Cena would be the Hogan and Savage of WWE right now.

Hugh Jackmon, he's ripped as fuck he's Wolverine. He can have you're wife right now and you wouldn't be able to do shit about it he'd woop you're fucking ass and fuck her right in front of you.... btw having metal claws would help in wrestling

When do you guys think Hugh Jackman gets put into the WWE Hall of Fame?

I'm taking a different route. Dolph Ziggler. More times than not it seems a guy can go completely from being on top, to falling to oblivion due to any circumstance. That is what I think of when I think of American wrestling. You can insert a number of names here, but to me that fits pretty good

If we're talking about picking a guy to represent America as a nation, and if we can pick anyone past or present then I pick the obvious Hulk Hogan. If we're going by the same thing but need a current guy then I'd pick John Cena.

Now if we're going by guy that should represent American in-ring wrestling then I'd go with Kurt Angle in his prime. If past isn't an option again then I'd go Daniel Bryan.

I was talking to a few friends the other day and we were talking about how wrestlers from other countries are seen in America. Usually a wrestler from Mexico would have a mask, mostly acrobatic or areal style and is a much faster paced wrestler. A wrestler from Japan would be a smaller wrestler, with less of a focus on "physique" and more on different types of "martial arts" style strikes and throws. Now when it comes to a wrestler from America, the variety ranges of what a "wrestler from America" would look and how he would wrestle.

Interesting conversation....

Adding to it maybe....

Wrestlers from the UK are usually "tough brawlers".

Any wrestler not from Mexico, Japan, or the UK are automatically dastardly foreign heels. (And half the time if they are from those places, they are dastardly heels too)

When I think of a UK wrestler I think along the lines of a technical mat wrestler. Much like William Regal, Doug Williams or Dave Taylor. That isn't to say there aren't wrestlers from Europe or Japan who don't look like bodybuilders.

Not the best known internationally, but they embody the American entrepreneurial spirit:
Chris Hero for opening his own wrestling consultancy
Tara for owning five businesses with her husband, one of which is a wrestling-themed restaurant

Yea, Swagger.
He's not a merch moving monster, but he can kill it in the ring when given the chance. He has a good amateur background and has transitioned well into the pro style. He looks legit.

That, or Dolph Ziggler.

Brian Cage
Chavo Guerrero Jr
