Screw the haters. He was great in MITB, and great on Raw. He has put over Seth so well at this point, he looks crisp and his selling is brilliant.

People feel a need to hate, I don't see why.

RVD was great 10-15 years ago. Time to hang up the boots and eventually become Mr Bingo Night at the retirement home.

I've been one of the vocal anti-RVD guys lately but I have to agree, he was pretty good on the PPV

I still love RVD, I don't get upset if isn't winning since his job is to attract people and get a pop.

Yeah I don't mind RVD too much. Was honestly happy to see him back. He's being used in a good way and putting over other talent, which is awesome. And while he has obviously lost a couple steps, he still has it at this point. He still hits his spots, and he still sells moves like a damn champ. No problem with him at all.

Never liked RVD.

Except for maybe his first couple matches in WWE where I was like "Hey, that's kinda cool". Then he just kept doing the same things.... and I began to notice that his punches and half of his kicks just looked like they had no force behind them at all.... and that he had next to no personality/charisma....

*do a move* *point to self* *say name* *do another move* *point to self* *say name*

I will say that I have never seen RVD in ECW, but Paul Heyman must have worked some f'n magic with the dude.... and I mean MAGIC. Because the dude has been coasting off of his ECW rep pretty much ever since he went to WWE.

Rob's always welcome on my TV screen. I feel like I would enjoy his work even if he wasn't from as nearby me as Battle Creek.

Like him or not, crowds still clearly enjoy seeing him.

I love RVD, but he seems to be less and less into it every time he comes back. or maybe I'm just less and less into him. who knows.

What Lockjaw said.

Also me and my buds used to laugh at that move where the guy catches his leg, and he does a weird enziguri, and how every week it got a little sloppier.

I was never a big RVD mark, but the dude can go. When the situation calls for it, he changes up his style just enough to fit the story he is trying to tell. And the dude works his ass off when he is out there. He was on Superstars the other week and went off the top rope into the barricade. At his age, he doesn't need to be doing that.

He's over and his shtick works. He hasn't de-railed anyone on purpose with ego or anything. I do think his return was oddly timed, however, and his involvement kind of ruined what would have been a perfectly fine Cesaro vs. Swagger feud.

RVD de-railed the entire WWE ECW relaunch. They built the entire brand around him and treated it like a huge deal...until he decided to get caught with drugs. Him being a dumbass and Kurt going insane killed the potential of WWECW.

WWECW would have been great with a heel Bobby Lashley as champion.

and of course the guy who would have been ECW champion doing that thing he did...enclosed pool area.

That was a year after the relaunch and Vince McMahon holding the belt. The tone and approach toward WWECW had already changed drastically from its debut and early months.

This is the worst thread ever. Please let it die. Feel depressed every time I see the thread title.

The man continues to take big bumps and isn't the best on the mic, but that's what makes it funny. Parallel to Jean Claude Van Damme's terrible acting, but both formidable combatants

My only issue with Rob Van Dam is his inability to evolve as a character. Rob Van Dam in 2014 is pretty much Rob Van Dam in 2002.

RVD was actually pretty solid on the mic in ECW, but then he wasn't scripted and toned down, and was a heel for the most part. If he was motivated for one last big run and mixed it up he'd be amazing, but he seems happy doing the same old stuff and getting paid handsomely for it so fair play to him.

RVD's been decent during this recent run.

Didn't really pay attention to how much he's slowed down until his match against Neville on NXT.

Seriously, RVD is the true example of what a B+ player is. He'll always give a solid performance but never cut out to be The Man, as was proven when he literally smoked his chance away.

You could've even gone ahead and said 2001 even. He's really been the same guy pretty much since day 1 in the then-WWF.

Actually found a copy of WWF No Mercy 2001 on sale for PrettyGood price at one of those VG stores with like consoles and games for consoles all the way back to caveman days and DVDs that had what was probably his first main event match for the WWF Championship.

I find it hilarious that the company who had done practically everything but trademark, copyright and patent the term "triple threat" for 3-way 1-on-1-on-1 matches apparently had to add the No DQ rule to that match. Probably because I didn't start watching the shows until about a month later with Survivor Series 2001.
