View Full Version : favorite referee

Inspired by the 10k board, and my inherent nerdiness.

Which referee was your favorite and why?

I'm going to start with mine. Nick Patrick. He was a pretty good hand in his own right, and did little things that made moves look bigger. One of my favorite bits was usually reffing Flair matches. When the opponent would do the full press into the slam, you were guaranteed to see Patrick go wide eyed. He didn't just check the submissions and count the three, he made the action in the ring the priority.

I made a thread last month about if referees should go into the Hall of Fame, and my first candidate would be this guy:

Random fact: Charles Robinson is the only guy left from the Invasion.

Anyone else who is still around now has left and returned at some point. Robinson is the only active performer to come in with the Alliance and is still there to this day.

when did Mike Chioda leave? My fave was Jimmy Korderas, Lil' Naitch a close second.... always hated Hebner, too choreographed on the 2 counts, could always tell if someone was about to kick out or not....

NWA Ref Tommy Young for me.

He was for me the greatest ref of all time.

Exactly the reason I disliked Hebner.

Gotta say Earl Hebner. He always had brilliance in reffing the matches especially when something big was happening. An example would be Mick Foley winning the belt from Rock on RAW. Earl would do that not too slow but not too fast 3-count where the crowd would count along.... Just really would add so much in capturing that big moment.

Max Ward in the World of Sport days, looks well bad ass. He even got his name on the back of his shirt.

Charles Robinson.

Solid at his job, and i'm guessing he really enjoys the business. Can tell that he doesn't phone it in. His enthusiasm shows. Oh, and who can forget the epic run down the ramp at Wrestlemania 24? Also, best hair.

It's funny seeing a few people saying "Lil' Naitch". A storyline from 15 years ago, and so many of us still remember it. It's probably why he's my choice too, just remembering him doing that storyline.

I got a wave from him at NOC 2009 by yelling "Lil Naitch"

Tim White. Dude took an absolutely SICK bump during the HIAC match between Triple H and Jericho @ Judgment Day ’02, and STILL came back to ref Jericho v. Christian @ WM XX, where he re-injured his shoulder. Poor guy couldn’t catch a break.

And his repeated suicide attempts provided us with endless amusement.
