they need to move delgado and get some pitching

Loose Cannon

^^I don't know if that would be such a great move. Delgado is the Franchise player of the Jays. That would be like the Yankees moving Jeter right now. That might piss off a lot of fans. They do need some pitching though.

Delgado's contract is up after this season and I doubt the jays are gonna put shitloads of cash his way just cause they really can't

Delgado is having a shit year so theres a good chance that he won't find big free agent money. But nonetheless Toronto probably wouldn't match what other teams would pay.

If they don't improve by the all-star break I'd trade him

I can't get into baseball this year. Don't know why. Might be the Jays uniforms.

Baseball isn't really interesting me much this season, might be because the NL gets so few games in Canada and because the Jays suck right now.

It feels like this year there is such a big dropoff in talent from team to team and so many games feel like blow outs, its just boring.

He caught the ball at first base on Otis Nixon's attempted bunt Vs The Braves in the first World Series victory for Toronto.

Remember when Toronto had one of the largest payrolls in MLB. Damn, things have changed.

I blame the Yankees.

Dude...this reminds me of back in '87, the George Bell/Lloyd Moesby/Tony Fernandez/Jesse Barfield days...the Jimy Williams era. This was when I first became a Jays fan, and it was tough to be a Jays fan then, too.

hey, at least the Jays have better uniforms and logos now. That bird wrapped around a big red T was horrid...I still like the classic Jays logo and uniforms, but...this is a definite improvement.

Back then though the Jays had a future. Even though they struggled, they were a team of the future, now there's none of that. Oh and in '87 they made the playoffs... or just missed. Dammit can't exactly remember at the moment.

I think that's the year they lost 1-0 in the last game of the season against Detriot to miss the playoffs. Actully they lost all 3 VS the Tigers that last set. but they needed that last one...

OMG. Just looked it up. Jays lost their last 7 games of the year in '87. Finished with a 96-66 record. Had a great Sept overall, but when it counted.. 7 losses :'(

Oh yeah that's right. I was like 6 when that happened so my memory was a bitch

I remember watching that game, he hit it off Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams if I'm not mistaken. I was pulling for the Phillies. Loved Dykstra

Jeff Reardon was our downfall back then though. :nono:

I remember watching the Phili series with my dad who knew nothing about sports. Late in the game Toronto gets a quick 1-2-3 inning and my dads like "see that was great strategy". Ah the memories

Yep. '88 into the Gaston era was tough, too. Did Jeff Musselman even play that much in '88?

The Gaston era was great. Though, the Jays got a little too "Dream Team"-ish when they won the big ones. I always thought it was odd to see Rickey Henderson playing on the Jays instead of the A's. Ditto for Joe Carter and Dave Winfield. But it still ruled they were there.

Where I lived at the time, Braves fans were in abundance. But the guys across the street were definitely not Braves fans. so after the Jays won, they put up a banner that read "HOW ABOUT THEM BRAVES!" I just about died laughing.
