Basically, use this thread to post worst covers you've heard.

I'll start with a "controversial" one, only because Tool fans can be Tools.

The original was by Fear.

I saw Tool live once (they were supporting Ozzy and Slayer). The singer was smeared in some kinda blue poo and stood the whole concert in one pose. The kinda "The Rock has finally come back" pose. It was terrible, but the fact he didn't flinch was pretty impressive. There were Kerry King clones in attendance who kept throwing empy plastic beer cups at him the whole show. I liked that part.

my buddy saw Tool in concert and fuck head wouldn't face the crowd. He stood still much like how you said but with his back to the audience.

what a cunt

That is MJK's schtick; standing with his back to the audience when performing. I saw him twice with APC, and both times, he did that. I still haven't had the chance to see Tool, live.

Sweet Child of Mine Sheryl Crow. Absolute garbage.

I saw them twice in 01. Both times, I prefered the opening act both times (Fantomas and Melvins).

Also, "Disarm" by Civil Wars butchered Smashing Pumpkins.

MTV did a tribute thing to Metallica in like 2002, and Avril Lavigne performed an embarrassingly bad version of "Fuel," which wasn't really anything to begin with, but yeah.

Madonna's version of "American Pie" is the most insulting example if garbage that I can think of. Absolute drek.

Avril Lavigne was so much better than Limp Bizkit and Snoop Dog

Sum 41 killed it at that thing though. So did Disturbed and Korn if I remember correctly

Korn absolutely did a smashing job with "One"

Joan Jett's cover of Smells like Teen spirit is total shit.

But the worst cover I have ever heard was Merc doing NIN's Closer. Sadly he has taken down that video. I might still have the audio of it somewhere.

Halestorm is such a hit and miss band. For a perfect example, I love "I Want You/She's So Heavy". A nigh untouchable Beatles song, and one of those things you should not attempt unless you can do it justice, and they commendably didn't shit the bed.

... their cover of "Hunger Strike", though? Jesus, it is abysmal. It deserves to be banished screaming down near a level of hell reserved for Dolly Parton's cover of "Stairway To Heaven".
