Great move for Corgan. Interested to see what his plans are as it looks like he has bought everything. Talent seemed to really like him to. Could see the Hardys signing with him when their time in WWE is up. Drew Galloway was high in him aswell.

NWA has potential I think but needs to be reworked. Should have a pyramid type system of promotions with a solo branded NWA show at the top. Its happened to many times to the NWA where their top promotion leaves and if its simply NWA that cant happen. Use the smaller promotions as development promotions and groom talent for the top show.

I like it. There's tons of innovative stuff he could do with a TV deal. A major re-vamped internet age version of the territory system would be kinda cool to see.

Just hope he doesn't introduce something stupid like he did with the Impact Grand Championship and its rounds.

Probably just beef up NWA's own version of the Network with more tape libraries.

I agree. I think what could be cool and different today is if they did a regional touring schedule of one territory each month being the focus of that month's television and PPV/special event.

You could have 5 or 6 different territories in different regions, and then have your champs (world, tag and a secondary/television title) in a different region every month where they'd tour one territory/region for a month and those territory feuds would be the focus of your television/storylines for that month. You could then hit the next territory for the next month and so on.

Meanwhile, the other territories that aren't the television focus for that month could still run local territory shows (4-8 a month maybe?) to keep up local interest, develop new talent, try out gimmicks and other things prior to television, etc.

You could even have other guys from the next month's territory OCCASIONALLY show up at the current month's territory's PPV to jump start the next month's feuds, OR OCCASIONALLY jump from one territory to another as needed.

Just brand each territory as NWA South, NWA Northeast, NWA Pacific, NWA Midwest, etc. You'd always have fresh feuds every month, constant development of new talent, less overexposure problems, etc., but everything would still be consistent enough in that you only have one world champ, tag champ, it's all under the same brand, etc.

It has suffered in recent years, but have history and a lineage like the NWA should put him ahead of lower level competitors. It's a smart move, rather than starting an upstart with no recognition.

I would seriously love it to become something again and provide some sort of watchable alternative.

"Recent" is obviously meant in context though. Remember you can trace back legit champions to the late 40's.

It's obviously much worse than it once was, but it is something to be built on.

Just had a look and it's not that bad until very recently.

Early 90's is still WCW until 93. Then you have guys like Severn, Shamrock, Ogawa, who were obv legit fighters and Candido, Corino who were good in the ring.

TNA era you still have AJ Styles as a heavy holder, along with ok names like Jarrett, Sting, Christian, Raven.

Into ROH era you have lesser known names, but they are inevitably guys of the standard that Corgan will be trying to pick up, like Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana etc...

Its only very recently that things have gotten very poor. 51 year old current champ Tim Storm probably being the worst.

Sure, there are a few weird ones along the way, but it is definitely salvageable in my opinion. The positives of the lineage and history far outweigh the negatives of recent years

Former champion Jax Dane just debuted on Impact this week as Wilcox, part of the Veterans of War tag team. Have a feeling Impact wont allow talent to work for Corgan though so he's probably out. Seen earlier that he and Ryback have a match on the 13th in NWA Smokey Mountain Wrestling. Ryback wouldn't be a bad get for Corgan.

Checked out Backlash 2000 the other day on the Network, and he was shown in the crowd. I bet 2000 him would be warning him not to make either purchase.

Not really. He was planning to be an investor in ECW around that time.

No, I don't have Corgan level money, plus a lot of my wealth is tied up in non-liquid, longer-term investments. Just enough money to live a very comfortable life, help my and my wife's parent's and our sisters and bro-in-laws when they get older, put my nieces and nephews through college, and not have to worry about money for the rest of mine and my wife's lives, and still leave a big chunk for each of our nieces and nephews and some charities once we're dead and gone, if we stay smart with our money and plan for our estates properly.

Is this meant to be the same NWA from the pre-WCW days or is this a completely different company/brand?

Seems surreal that the letters NWA would mean anything in the world of pro wrestling in 2017.

It has the lineage but none of the library so it's pretty meaningless.

Same company but been even weaker in recent years especially once NJPW dropped them as a special partner.

So his past self would tell his future self not to make the purchase?

They have an on demand service. They MUST have some of the library.

How does one person own a collective of wrestling fed's that bounder together for mutual protection? Does that mean he owns every nwa territory? Or just the name and the belt?

The companies pay to use the letters. He will get those annual dues. He will also be responsible for fulfilling the NWA's obligations to them

What a waste of money this is. Just start your own thing up and try and grow it if NWA is your best choice. Unless he calls his promotion NWATNA, in which case all his cash would be worth the chuckle.

He's tried that before. NWA is still a historic name and brand worth doing something with that doesn't carry a stigma like TNA did so I think its a good move for him. Can do what ever he wants with a historic brand and build it up if he so chooses. Just having the NWA name makes it more recognizable than anything new would.

Colt and Pearce were doing a best of 7 series and the NWA refused to allow the belt to be defended in the 7th match so both left the NWA and refused the belt. Cabanna won the match.
