From PWInsider:

RIC FLAIR HOSPITALIZED
By Paul Jordan on 2017-08-13 02:32:00
Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was admitted to the ICU for heart-related issues by his family. The initial cause for concern isn't exactly clear. The family states that they're doing it for "routine monitoring".

A representative for Flair posted the following on social media:

“Yes, Ric is checked into a hospital for some routine monitoring. No, there is no reason to panic.”

Adding, “Yes, we’d like to thank his fiancé & the incredible hospital staff who are providing the best care. No, we cannot answer any personal questions. Yes, Ric would want you to go out and have a great weekend … Nature Boy style!”

Charlotte was pulled because she went to China to promote the Network. She was still there as of yesterday.

According to TMZ Sports, Flair is having surgery to fix his heart related problems. Had to be put into a medically induced coma as part of the prep process for it.
http://www.tmz.com/2017/08/14/ric-flair-surgery-medically-induced-coma/

While PWInsider isn't claiming this to be the exact cause, Flair did reveal in his autobiography he suffers from Alcoholic cardiomyopathy.
Since there is no confirmation on any of that information, we won't report any of it. What we do know, based on what was written in Flair's own autobiography To Be The Man, the former NWA and WWF champion suffers from Alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a condition caused by excessive, prolounged alcohol abuse that can lead to heart failure. When one suffers from that condition, the toxic effects of alcohol on the heart's muscle leads to a situation where the organ is unable to pump blood efficiently.

According to Flair's rep, the surgery wasn't for his heart but for something else.

Ric Flair’s manager has revealed that the WWE Hall of Famer’s surgery was successful, and was not related to his heart. Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent and Entertainment posted the following to twitter:

Ric had surgery today (not❤️related)am happy 2report it was a success.Still a long road ahead so plz keep 4Ric Charlotte Megan David&Wendy

Updates from PWI regarding Flair's current medical condition. Basically he's staying in the hospital for a while but his outlook is better than it was yesterday even if he's still in very critical condition.

The surgery he had was for his bowels and the reason things took a drastic turn for the worst was due to his kidneys shutting down at one point.

In regard to Ric Flair's condition, he is still currently in critical condition in Atlanta, GA.

A source close to the situation told PWInsider.com that while reports are out there that Flair had surgery on his colon, those are incorrect. It appears those stories began because Gene Okerlund mistakenly said colon on social media.

The surgery was actually on Flair's bowels due to a massive obstruction caused by a health issue that was complicated by other health issues that Flair had been dealing with, including heart issues that he was already aware of. The situation turned dire when Flair's kidneys shut down due to the obstruction and he is currently undergoing dialysis that will hopefully fix the situation and allow them to return to normal.

Flair was in extremely bad shape several days ago but the outlook, we are told, is better. However, we were cautioned that he is still in critical condition and anything can happen, so he's not out of the woods yet and is expected to need at least one more surgery in the weeks to come.

This is NOT a case where Flair will wake up tomorrow and leave the hospital the next day.

Speaking of shady ass hotlines, I was watching some stuff from the early 90s the other day. Jim Ross was schilling his NWA hotline during a match and reminded kids to "get your parents' permission before calling". Jim Cornette was on commentary and goes "And if you want some REAL scoops, call my hotline. And kids, you don't even need to get your parents permission before calling."

Gene once said in a teaser that a former World Heavyweight Champion just died, call to find out who on one of his commercials on Saturday Night. So you have to listen to the entire call only for Gene to reveal the death of former AWA wrestler Jerry Crusher Blackwell lol, who wasn't even a world champion in the AWA.

Update from the Observer about Flair's current medical condition:

We have an update Ric Flair. Flair is doing significantly better than he was earlier in the week, but he is still in critical condition. He was given an external pacemaker and his heart is beating at normal levels and getting stronger. He is still battling an infection and on kidney dialysis. This is going to be a very slow process.
