So, you think Jinder is going to be popped or working with an injury?

Oh. also Kofi beat Sami for some fucking reason, Becky beat Ellsworth in an actual match then Carmella turned on Ellsworth, Sin Cara wasn't injured that bad despite how it looked and will face Baron next wee for the US belt.

Jinder has a shoulder injury. That was known a month ago. Why they waited til now is beyond me. They could have just had Brock destroy him and kayfabe that as the excuse. Now they have another ppv main event changed the week before the event with little build to it aside from "hey Lesnar vs Styles might be cool"

COMPLETE WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE SPOILERS FROM MANCHESTER

DARK MATCH:

Breezango defeats the Colons,

SMACKDOWN:

Smackdown opens up with a video feature on AJ Styles vs. Jinder Mahal.

Shane McMahon comes out. He thanks everyone for watching the A show and promises Daniel Bryan will return next week. McMahon says Smackdown is ready for any retaliation. He brings out New Day, who say they didn't intend to cause the Shield to lose the Raw Tag titles but that's what happens when you are under siege. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn come out and knock Shane, saying Raw will beat them because of him. Shane tells them they have no loyalty and makes a match, Zayn vs. Kofi Kingston for right now....

*Kofi Kingston pinned Sami Zayn Owens tried to get involved but was run off by New Day.

*Renee Young interviewed Jinder Mahal. He promises to beat AJ tonight and then will take out Brock at the PPV.

*They air a Bludgeon brothers vignette.

*Randy Orton pinned Rusev with an RKO Out OF NOWHERE! He joined Team Smackdown officially.

*James Ellsworth is looking for Carmella but instead Becky Lynch is there. He knocks her saying if Raw was there, she's hide behind him because they are in Manchester, not Womanchester. Lynch tells him he made a ballsy statement, but he doesn't have any.

*James Ellsworth vs. Becky. All the other Smackdown female stars are around ringside. Ellsworth tries to escape but is tossed back in by Charlotte. He begs off and tries to kiss Becky's hand but she makes him tap out to the Disarmher. Carmella is so disgusted after that she superkicks him. She walks away alone.

*They ran a promo announcing The Shield will return to Raw Monday.

*Carmella spoke to Shane McMahon backstage when Natalya entered the room. She offered to face Alexa and work the Women's Elimination Tag Match. Shane announced Natalya vs. Charlotte for next week's Smackdown.

*Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin defeated The Usos by countount. They played up a potential injury to Jey.

*They announced New Day vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, Sin Cara vs. Baron Corbin and Natalya vs. Charlotte.

*AJ Styles pinned Jinder Mahal to capture the WWE championship. :D:D:D:D:D

My head was telling me they'd do the title change, but my gut was that I was overthinking it (if that makes sense). I mean, it's hard to call just what they're going to do next. But ever since it became very apparent that Mahal was not helping in India, it didn't really make sense to send him in as the champion. But they have known this for the longest time and never did anything about it. I suppose the only people he really beat were Orton and Nakamura.

Yeah, there was, but I'm not sure how much stock I'd place in it. I mean, since when has the WWE been interested in putting talent over when they go home? Besides, the India shows aren't sold out yet. It may be that they don't want the image of the guy who has been presented as local walking into a half-empty arena as champion. If he doesn't have the belt then they at least get to say that it didn't sell out because Jinder lost. :shifty:

The title change would have been so much better if the WWE didn't plaster spoilers all over the internet.

They spoiled their own main event by saying "Breaking news: New champion crowned at WWE SmackDown Live in U.K. (CAUTION: SPOILER)", so you're watching SmackDown and when the WWE Championship match begins and you've yet to see a title change, you just know what the outcome of that match is going to be.

Tbf, is it a bad story to have Styles “hang with” Brock for a while before losing, and then Jinder “picking the bones” of a beaten up AJ afterwards?

I mean, obviously it’s “bad” if it results in Jinder regaining the title, but it sits pretty well with a Chicken shit heels tactics.

The only guy that should beat Brock at this point is Roman Reigns at Mania.

If Roman Reigns is your 'guy' moving forward, then the WWE needs to keep Brock as strong as possible so that the job is more meaningful.

Smackdown managed to gain back all the viewers lost from last week's massive drop.

Last night’s SmackDown Live drew 2,603,000 viewers, up big from last week’s 2,119,000 viewers.

The Ric Flair “30 for 30” documentary on ESPN at 10 PM ET drew 1,831,000 viewers.

SmackDown was #3 on cable for the night in the 18-49 demographic, behind the Ric Flair documentary and American Horror Story on FX.

This time last year, the November 8, 2016 episode of SmackDown Live drew 1,921,000 viewers.

Also something happened with Owens and Sami that both got sent home from the rest of the European tour.

Mr. Nerfect
11-08-2017, 06:08 PM
Also, I get the feeling that Mahal will regain the title after Survivor Series and that the title change was done to boost ticket sales or network subscriptions for Survivor Series by offering Lesnar vs Styles instead of Lesnar vs Mahal.

If they're trying to boost ticket sales and subscriptions, why would they go back to what had them down in the first place? And what the recent financials stated was that good main events might get watched more on the Network, but they aren't going to get people to subscribe.

They might go back to Jinder after Survivor Series, because this company is stubborn and will do whatever the hell they like, but I just can't see that being the reason. I think it's more likely they wanted to do something to pop a UK show so that they have something to show ITV and say "See? See? We're cool."

The Jinder thing also wasn't working. I can't remember where I've posted this and where I haven't, haha. But yeah, Jinder was not attracting Indian fans, and the India shows still haven't sold out (at least the WWE website still lets you buy tickets for almost every section). It could just be that Vince doesn't want to look like a fool when photos emerge of things like this:

https://blogs-images.forbes.com/alfredkonuwa/files/2017/09/SDLIVE-1200x900.jpg?width=960

Especially after they go to India with an Indian WWE Champion.

Triple H was also bizarrely euphemistic when talking about Jinder recently. It wasn't an all hands on deck "Jinder is the man to carry the brand forward" statement. He said things like "he wasn't successful before," "you can criticize him, but he's earned my personal respect," and "the jury is still out." That's been one of the weirdest things to come from this, because that just doesn't sound like a way you talk about your champion.

My gut tells me that they know this is a failed experiment. In India and domestically. It's possible that the Singh Brothers got beat up by him after the match because they're goons like Sakamoto was to Tensai, but something about it does feel like a wrap-up on the project.

If the ratings also hold, I don't see why they would go back to Mahal. 500,000 more people watching. That's a 25% increase for a taped show. Sure, the last one was Halloween and was against things people would rather watch (funny how they use "there's more interesting stuff" as an excuse), but given how scant the WWE audience is compared to what it used to be, the difference between 2 million and 2.5 million is a lot more dramatic.

Mr. Nerfect
11-08-2017, 06:15 PM
Also something happened with Owens and Sami that both got sent home from the rest of the European tour.

They don't normally work people like this, but my gut tells me that this is to make them appear more like outsiders. Neither seems like a party animal and I can't see anyone really getting upset about that promo. Wouldn't surprise me if this is some outside the box thinking by them to play on their ROH rep since the European tour is mostly over now, and Owens might still have personal stuff to deal with.

That being said, if it does turn out to be true, well, they managed to be good kids for a year or two there.
