Word is they have 2 more characters to reveal before release. I'm 100% confident that one is Android 21, the new character created to be the main antagonist of story mode. As for the second, I'm hoping Brolly, but I could see them saving him to help sell the DLC.

This is probably the most fun looking fighting game in a long time for me.I'm going to be all up in the beta.

One of the things that has me excited is that literally everyone looks fun. Literally no duds. But yeah, Yamcha looks cool as fuck.

Adult Gohan is definitely going to be a character people build their teams on, to try and get that level 7 power up.


If I had to pick a team of 3 I'm looking forward to most at this point, it would probably be Yamcha, Beerus, and Freiza.

I love watching zoners but cant zone well. I think frieza and beerus are def meta though. Really high potential from both, will hard counter the more typical rush down archetypes in the game.

Interested in ginyu which is hopefully will be a swerve on shang tsung. My hope is either ginyu is bad or the swap gives a damage boost. But i hope that ginyu is just bad so the swap works more like a troll :lol:

When you switch, the person who gets Ginyu's body doesn't have access to the Ginyu Force, which is just about all his special moves. Don't think they can use his supers either.

Downloaded that fan made Hyper Dragonball Z game to tide me over. Absolutely fantastic for a fan project. I mean I'm sure there are some balance issues butit feels great and all the characters feel unique. Amazing spfite work as well.

He's hilariously violent and presentation wise the most convincingly powerful Sayijin to me. But that's not to say Hit won't end up on my team if he jives with me. Frieza has a lot of purple energy effects so I might use him for that alone.

Well, Broly is definitely happening, but Kale and Kalifla would be great too. Can't see either being that interesting by themselves, but as a team, similar to 18 and 17, with Kalifla taking the lead, there is a lot more you could do with their moveset. Fusion could even be one of their supers.

The matchmaking is fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Only got into one match despite the lobby I was in having 50-60 people consistently. Problem seems to be across both consoles.

Still got to try out Goku, Krillin, and Teen Gohan in training. Picked Beerus, Piccolo, and 18 for the match, and oh yeah, Beerus is my boy. Really feeling Piccolo as well. 18, seems a bit tougher to use. Had trouble getting anything going with her. Has slow start up on her specials.

Only had one match as well. Finished the tutorial. No local vs is very gay. Doesn't play quite like I expected, I didn't know there were two other auto-chains with different branches. Gonna take a while to used to.

Apparently she has an energy absorbing attack which allows her to use the moves of her opponents. Wonder if she has her own specials as well, or if shes a full on mimic character.

Definitely has her own supers.

Not a fighting game guy, but I think I might actually give this a spin.

Pretty sure I missed the actual beta, but I got do drop into some practice rounds. Funny thing was, it seemed to pick "random" teams, but it was the same "random" teams in the same order vs. another "random team" every time from boot (my first match was ALWAYS me having 18, Beerus, and Cell vs Piccolo, Nappa, and 16. Second Match was ALWAYS Kid Buu, Krillin, and Nappa vs Piccolo, Beerus, and Cell. Third match I always started with Kid Buu, but I don't remember anymore). Also, in spite of being in the lineup, any side that had Beerus was actually down a man, since he never swapped in if he was on my team or even showed up if he was an opponent, giving me a two round victory instead of three. Thought that was kinda weird, but chalked it up to him being some sort of closed beta exclusive for preorder folks or somesuch. I dunno. Still seemed cool.

18 seems interesting being the package deal with 17. I wonder if any other characters have a similar dynamic... or if 17 is a "skin" for 18 like those twins in Street Fighter 3(? i think)

18 and Vegeta are def on my main team. Last day for XBL beta and I finally a good string of matches. Doing manual combos is gonna be the way to go but there's a lot the tutorial wasn't open about.

Light attack auto combos have animations that are unique to them. So while manual combos are still the way to go, I'm still gonna have to use an auto combo from time to time. For the sake of style.

Actually there's a couple reasons to do manual combos, including higher damage, more severe knockdown, better stun effects (wallbounce, launches), and generally having more varied combo paths for your advantage.

Manuals are good to a point, but are the most basic amount of damage. Even the Medium Attack path that leads to super is actually the lowest damaging path to super. You can certainly just block correctly and auto your way past the vast majority of players (especially with the influx of casuals and Xenoverse/Tenkaichi players who the autos are designed for).

But at some point you gotta start experimenting with mixing up the auto combo paths. And from thete throw in more manual inputs. I can tell you in the beta I was already shutting people down who only had auto combos to offer, by only marginally varying my paths. Now imagine legions getting time in training mode. There's already clips of training mode stuff that make this look like a different game.

There are reasons not to do rest on autos forever.

For instance, even after the launcher of the light auto path do a manual light > medium > heavy instead of finishing with mashing light. Not only do you get more damage, the spike (an attack that smashes the opponent back down) is now a hard knockdown for whatever super or wake up shenanigans you wanna do.

Also if you hold back while jabbing and button (like light just to fish for a punish) you won't initiate the auto sequence.

Also the KI attack button is treated as a NORMAL attack, with all the accompanying mechanics.

Story is alright so far. Highlight is all the different character interactions. Found some decent manuals while playing through. Also getting the hang of extending combos with the tagging. Only thing I'm still a bit clueless on is when to use assists, but that will come in time. Just working on combos for now.

The next batch of DLC characters were supposedly leaked based on recent datamining from the PC version.

The file, which Mizumi states is easily accessible to anybody, features a selection of names hidden behind initials (such as BDN for Bardock and BRS for Broly) The data also contains the Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta and Goku variants, plus six more codenames.

When referenced against a previous leak of DLC characters, there is a snug fit between the codenames and the characters mentioned in the original leak: VTB for Vegito Blue, ZMB for Fused Zamasu, GKN for Goku Normal, VGN for Vegeta Normal, CLF for Cooler and AVP for an Android 17 variant.

I dunno, it's not the characters I'd choose if I made a list of DLC. Vegito and Cooler are the only 'DLC' type standouts.

Wouldn't be too excited for Cooler. Metal Cooler on the other hand, could have a very cool moveset.

Base Goku and Vegeta have been rumored for a while and has resulted in a divisive opinion in the community. I'm a ll for saiyan saga versions of them tbh. They are iconic, and theres more than enough material to draw from to make them play like completely different characters to the versions already in the game.

Would have liked Janemba. Not a terribly important charcter, but definitely one of the coolest and unique movesets of the series.

Switch version rumored to be currently in development based on a supposed E3 leak of upcoming Switch games.

Twitter user @AAMARMO posted a picture of confidential Nintendo event materials, which were then reposted on the ResetEra forums. In it, Switch ports of Fortnite and Dragon Ball FighterZ are shown. The other games listed are Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, FIFA 19, Killer Queen Black, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Paladins, Overcooked 2, and Mario Tennis Aces. It's a healthy mix of known-about games, surprise ports, and unannounced games.
