What's up with WWE leaving good Jim Johnston themes on the shelf, I mean we know WWE can be petty, but come on.

It seems to started with Drew McIntyre, though that could be explained away as a "he was supposed to be coming back from a didn't live up to expectations" run.

But the returning Jeff Hardy not using his theme from when he was winning world titles, and instead still using the Hardys tag theme is weak.

Even weaker is having the huge return of Bobby Lashley come out to some generic theme that they picked from a catalog listed under big and tough wrestler #4 theme.

Can't wait until Batista comes back to some new drum solo theme smh.

If you're not a sock, welcome!

And Bats won't come back with a drum solo. This is CFO$ we're talkin' bout, son! It will either be hybrid dubstep on a four bar loop, OR something with farting MIDI trumpets.

I don’t think Batista will be coming back any time soon. It’s too bad. He’s a tremendous heel and actually had a very respectable run as a face.

The tag theme is the one that was over...?

Do they own the extended use for the Jeff one? I can imagine him using the Hardy Boyz one for a few weeks until they switch to the singles one, or a new one.

I was going to say you're absolutely right about that those dudes seem to be obsessed with trumpets

Hardys single theme was an updated version of the tag theme with lyrics, I would assume WWE doesn't use any theme unless they own the right to use it anymore with the exception of CM Punk or one offs like HHH at Mania 27.

If they couldn't use it, it would be edited on the network, again like playback versions of HHH at Mania 27.

For Whom the Bell Tolls was perfect for that entrance given the storyline. I still cringe hearing that generic replacement they dubbed over after it aired live.

I've watched some of his old stuff from '08-'09 when he used "No More Words" and it hasn't been edited. Seems like a lot of celeb themes, which they probably license from mainstream musicians have though, which is understandable but disappointing - an example is them editing out Mayweather's theme, 50 Cent's "I Get Money". I remember hearing that during the Big Show feud and at WM XXIV, and him having some bullshit dubbed in theme makes it literally impossible to watch any of that. Shame, too. It really was one of Show's better celeb feuds.

I'm sure Desty knows that. I think they're just using the Hardy Boyz one because it is more familiar. They might go back to it.

Probably not, unless the somewhat unlikely circumstance of him becoming a main-eventer again ever presents itself.

The more recognizable theme is the theme being used. Why use anything else? Clearly something im not getting

People probably just like the "star" one and have fondness for that run. I can see the point to it. Having a song with lyrics that was specifically designed for Jeff makes him feel a little less like a Hardy boy and more like big boy Jeff. Well, it did at the time.

Seriously, though - can we just replace Bobby Lashley's crap new theme with his Unstoppable (v2) theme from 2007?

THAT'S the theme of a badass. Whatever shit he's using now is utter trash - drizzling ear diarrhea shit. How are we expected to take anything he does seriously?

By that logic Matt should be using it as well, since it is their tag theme.

That further doesn't work when it is an altered improved version of the original them, so it would be just as recognizable at the beginning anyways, people would hear it and know it's Jeff Hardy just the same.

You can't tell me this isn't better suited for solo Jeff

Obviously not hte same thing. If he wasnt doing a gimmick though yeah he should totally be using the tag theme. No question.

Matt had his own theme as a singles wrestler too originally, dude slapped tornados, he didn't use the tag theme either.

Matt did change his gimmick for the Mattitude stuff. I see both sides. Jeff's singles theme is basically built on the Hardy Boyz theme. It takes the Hardy and it emphasizes the Jeff. It was effective at what it was. But it's not necessary to his presentation. If Jeff gets over, whatever theme he is using gets over.

At the moment, and I might be off, but I have the feeling that the current audience thinks they're too smart for their own good, and is into the geeky Woken stuff, so the idea of Jeff getting a "push" is something they're possibly resisting more than they emotionally want to. I got that feeling on Raw after Mania, anyway, when they get this beacon of charisma that left on top back, and they're chanting for the fuck-around "Brother Nero" gimmick. At present, it's probably best for Jeff to use the theme that triggers the Pavlovian response.

Yeah, I used to really love that theme but he only used it like 3 times on TV in July 2007. He was finally released several months later in February 2008, having personally asked for it several times in those 6+ months. I don't think it's all that well-known, and I think he's the kind of guy that doesn't need a theme with lyrics to make him seem like a badass. Even his first few titantrons used the descriptions "hard-hitting" and "soft-spoken".

You don't actually need the difference explained to you; you're just being deliberately obtuse, yeah?

Lol yes, it was the dude slapped tornados line that gave me away wasn't it? Jeff Hardy was just an example. Jeff used the tag theme as a solo wrestler during his first run, and it is a good theme.

My real complaint, which is why I made the post, was the super generic theme Lashley has now when the barely used one is just sitting there.

Just today saw that Baron Corbins new theme is a Jim Johnston creation. Not only does it have a pretty good hook, but it fits his character perfectly.

And then there is Lashley's theme, which still sucks almost as much as his character, so at least it matches in that sense.

Enjoyed CFO$'s work a lot more than johnstons recent efforts, tbh. Looking at the lists of their work I havnt really been hooked by any Johnston's recent works outside of Corbin and Mahal.

I don't mind that CFO$'s songs often have a short loop. I don't sit in my room listening to entrance themes.

Oh don't mistake any of this as disliking CFO$, they have made tons of great themes.

I was just surprised that Corbin was a Johnston theme, as discussed above that WWE seems willing to use any generic theme (Lashley) then something previously produced by Johnston.

One prop missing from Lashley's entrance since he came back - Vince sitting in a rocking chair + glaring at him like a surly Mister Rogers.

"If we could get 'No More Words' back but the band evidently broke up," Hardy explained. "A lot of people thought that I sung that song, but that was Endeverafter's song, but I miss that dearly.

"I know a lot of my fans want to hear that more than anything. Because in my opinion, it's better to save that Hardy Boyz music for the Hardy Boyz. I don't feel comfortable using it, but I'm not going to complain.

"It might be time to do something completely fresh. But I definitely more than anything right now what's missing from the Jeff Hardy character on SmackDown is my own entrance music. I need something new and fresh if I don't get to use 'No More Words.'"

Once again, I am right on the money!!!
