Jericho and Benjamin was a great choice for a match, I'm glad the fans voted for Shelton. :y:

I'm not watching the PPV, I'm watching the Yankees/Sox game instead. :(

I wish I was watching Taboo Tuesday but can't afford it. :(

jerichoholic169

ive got a feeling that the main event is going to be really crap. when they had the HIAC match, michaels was injured in that and it was crap compared to what they've done in the past. so with HBK injured again, i cant imagine it being any good.

then again they could pull an angle where edge takes out HBK (or anyone) so he cant wrestle. and then we get edge - HHH seen as he stormed off before etc etc.

and who the hell voted for edge?!!

OK I'll post pbp now!!!Conway stomped away on Edge and made the cover for two. Conway sent Edge to the ropes but Edge came back with a flying forearm. Conway got up on the apron and Edge speared him off the apron to the outside. Edge then went outside, but Grenier attacked him from behind. Benoit then came around and he and Grenier went at it. Conway then sent Edge back inside the ring and he made the tag to Grenier who hit a knee drop to the head of Edge for two. Grenier then locked in a rear naked choke on Edge.

Edge fought out, but Grenier took him down with a flapjack and made the cover for two. Grenier then tagged Conway and they hit a double team suplex for two. Conway mouthed off to Edge and then choked him on the middle rope. Edge began to fight back on Conway, but Conway raked the eyes of Edge and then a quick elbow. Conway tagged in Grenier who kicked Edge in the mid section. Grenier whipped Edge to the buckle but Edge exploded out with a clothesline, knocking Grenier down.

its not the fact he fighting HHH for the millionth time. its the fact that he can barely walk that sucks. this match will be really slow and crap. and hopefully quick.

The CyNick
10-19-2004, 11:31 PM
I guess they didn't want to screw the fans, but the problem is by letting Shawn wrestle, I'm sure they're having a terrible match, which also screws the fans. On the plus side for the WWE, nobody is watching, so.

This is kinda like the time HBK and HHH had that 3 stages of hell match in 02 (Dec I think), HHH had a bunch of injuries going into the match, but still wanted to go like 30 minutes plus. The result was a terrible match. Sometimes its better to back down, and just let soemone else go out there and have a good match.

cos this match is quite boring:

benjamin > jericho via t-bone suplex
trish won, molly, stacy, victoria, gail kim, nidia, jazz in the reverse order of elimination
snitsky > kane via chair around neck similar to HBK a few months back.
eugene > bischoff via hogan leg drop in about 2 minutes
benoit > la resistance via crossface to conway, edge walked out halfway thru.
chiristy > carmella, was having a piss break so didnt see it

t-man
10-19-2004, 11:42 PM
Michaels and Triple H locked it up and Triple H backed Michaels to the corner and the two traded right hands, with Michaels knocking HHH down. Michaels continued to hammer away on the game, using the ropes to hold himself up. Triple H escaped to the outside to regroup.

They locked up again with Michaels locking in a side headlock and he then chopped HHH down to the mat. Triple H came back and hammered the left leg of Michaels which sent Michaels down. Triple H then stomped away on the leg of Michaels. Triple H continued to stomp away at Michaels, and then hammered away at him with right hands on the canvas. Michaels tried to fight back with kicks from his good left, but Triple H went right back to the left knee, taking Shawn down. Triple H then dropped some elbows to the leg of Michaels as the referee asked if he could continue.

i think that at the end of this match, either:

orton and flair will shake hands/embrace/whatever

OR:

HHH and batista will launch a post match beatdown, flair will join them and then realise what hes become and hit them with a chair.

either way i think flair's turning. and hopefully become ortons manager. and this is gonna be a great match!

Yeah, is anyone having trouble repping people? My pop up blockers are disabled and javascript seems to work fine for me on other sites, so maybe it's TPWW.

Yeah, IOU 1 rep, Jerichoholic169. As soon as either my computer or TPWW (whichever it is) stops being gay, I will bring rep you. So thanks and stuff. Also Benoit having both belts makes up for him not being in the main event. He should wear both belts a la Kurt Angle in 2000.

Today's society? LOL!
We have been watching steel cage matches for years. 10 years ago it was Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes. On another note I think steel cage matches should be how all political matters should be solved. :shifty:

A steel cage match is violent but the Kane/Snitzky (however it's spelled) match wasn't? Did I miss something here?

snitzky/kane yeah because that was all about revenge and death etc.
flair - orton isnt. its about the legend killer v the legend. you dont need such a brutal and bloody match for this. a submission match would have been fantastic to really push orton forward. now its just who can lose the most blood.........

I have heard some rather bad things about that program and it's popup blocking. Supposedly there isn't really anyway to get rid of the pop up blocker without removing the software. From what I heard anyway, never really checked into it myself. And I've repped him twice. I'll do the third tonight when I visit casual and spread some rep.

Given this PPV it's understandable. However, for the shitfest it was, they managed to do a few storyline advancements. Edge finally gets interesting, Gene looks like a threat to the average mark, Benoit has a potential program with Edge to stay the time until HBK comes back. Flair shouldn't have been face-ish though... at least not if Orton wants to use the "killed another legend" line, but he can't now. Oh well, the main event was nice tho.

The sad thing is that now Vince has "ammo" to blame the internet fans for a crappy PPV.

Overall this is my opinion on the PPV from a booking stand point only.

Shelton over Y2J - Nice to see Shelton pick up a win and see he'll retain his push. A win over Jericho would have helped his credibility had it happened on an actual card rather than this shit.

Snitsky over Kane - I feel it for Kane, again it's nice to see them try to develop a new star but why the fuck have it be Snitsky? There are so many other guys on the roster who could have used a push like the one Snitsky is getting and yet they waste it on him. He'll be jobbing in 3 months tops.

Trish - Don't care

Eugene over Bisch - I think WWE dropped the ball here. I think with the head shaving stimpulation Bisch should have won. With help of course, but a shave would be the perfect oppertunity to let Eugene go back to his OVW roots and drop the mental cripple gimmick. Only way Eugene should have won this match was if it were a servant match, cause that just would have been comedy in the making.

Benoit wins tag straps - Good for Benoit, he should have the world title. Anyway, this could help Benoit, should have happened on Raw.

Cristy over Carmella - Again, don't give a shit.

HHH over Michaels - Shawn, I love him but more balls than brains once again. Good job building up Edge though. I don't like the guy, but he's not a bad wrestler so Shawn could carry him to a great match upon his return. Could lead to a pretty interesting feud at that.

Orton over Flair - Right call by WWE, stupid ass timing. I think this would have made Orton again, had it happened on an actual card that people fuckin watched. This win means next to nothing as no one watched it.

Overall, some good storyline progression. A good job building up a few guys. But being that no one will have watched the show in comparison to an actual PPV, I don't see any of it meaning a damn thing.

I just got back from the show. They did a big tribute to Patterson after they went off the air. Vince came out, said some nice things and brought Patterson out. Then he made Pat sing Sinatra's "My Way". Then Shane and Stephanie came out and Pat sung some more as he slowly made his way up the ramp. They were taping it all, so it'll end up as a DVD extra possibly.

Shawn Michaels was in a lot of pain. Stop bitching and appreciate his sacrifice.

The One
10-20-2004, 02:16 AM
Terrible Pay Per View.

I am not going to dog on Michaels, and I guess I can't really dog on Vince & Co. for putting Michaels in the Main Event. How about this. Taboo Tuesday was a good concept that had some flaws to it. This clearly being one of them...

Shelton winning the Title? He hasn't had a program since his minnor feud with Orton over the IC title, and from out of no where he ups Jericho? I don't mind seeing shocking things or a change of pace, but I thought it was a tad bit, shall we say, simplistic to simply hand the title over to him because the fans voted for him to face Jericho...I guess the Peepulation is going down, becuase I know I sure voted for Captain Charisma...

The two (2), yes TWO T&A matches were a complete waste of time. For the love of god, I paid for a wrestling Pay Per View, porn is FREE on the internet! All those who got some jollies off of tonight need to simply type "boobs.com" instead of "tpww.net/forums" next time...And if Vince has realised that sex sells (cause it does) he can hire some porn stars and they can film things in other places then a WWE PPV timeslot.

La Resistance had their titles taken away by Benoit (and Edge...). Great, so the two men who wern't popular enough to beat out a cripple are now handed the Tag Titles? Why not have Benoit and Edge get into it...why not? Oh that's right, because while we, the fans, had a "choice", in the end we didn't. Edge and Benoit would have been the logical choice of a feud since they had a bad match together, but WWE decided to have Edge vs. Michaels in the future, leaving Benoit alone with two titles and one of the best Tag Teams in years with nothing else to do...good move...

Orton and Flair...the guy too inexperianced and young to have a long title reign, and the oldest guy on the roster stole the fucking show. How does that sound? Flair is the man, and Orton will one day be up there with the greats, but when a combination like this can steal the show, create the most interesting and exciting match of the night, not to mention set the ring psychology bar for most recent PPV matches, you know your in trouble. Of course what will happen now is Flair and Orton will be buried by Triple H...who knows if Batista will be involved somehow, ultimatly does it really matter...Pat Patterson can see, the rats have jumped, I would start too. I know WWE is were the money is, but money isn't everything...oh god I don't even know what I am saying anymore...TNA is shit latly, WWE is shit latly, pro wrestling has become shit latly...ARGHHH! Oh well, at least we can enjoy a diamond in the rough with the oldest guy in the business and a guy young enough to be his grandkid...Kudos to you two, a pox to the rest.

Am I the only one who thinks the show was not that bad?

Okay, it started off slow, and the Shelton Benjamin win came from out of nowhere, but I liked the Vince/Bischoff/Eugene segment, and the Triple H/Michaels match was pretty damn good. Did the ref really think he should have stopped the match? I was shocked Benoit beat La Resistance, and I'm glad Edge has finally turned completely. The Orton/Flair handshake was really nice, and Orton's respect for Flair was quite evident. I don't know. I thought the show was decent.

I hope they have Eric Bischoff strip Edge & Chris Benoit of the World Tag Team Championship on RAW next week, and have Edge & Christian become the new tag team champions. well in my view, it was crap.

lets see:

shelton > y2j

good match to start off with but the typical face v face no one knows who to cheer or boo. good to see jericho respecting bejamin - hopefully jericho can fued with HHH now. and beat him......i wish!!

diva fantasy battle royal

get off my tv!! if i want porn, i can get it on the internet. nuff said.

snitsky > kane

kinda hoped that there would be some kind of interference here or a turn. thought maybe snitsky was talking on the phone to matt on RAW so that he'd turn up and take out kane. but no kane was buried. does he count as another botched face turn??
this match looked really ungainly at some points, especially the double big boot. i suppose thats what you get with two big men in the ring who just go with power rather than finesse.

eugene > eric

2 minute match?! you are kidding me?? complete waste of 20 mins of my life. really hope the eugene gimmick gets dropped soon as im really fed up of it.

tag team championship

yet again we have make shift champion(s). at least edge fully turned. i reckon benoit will drop the titles next week on raw when edge comes out and spears his own 'partner'. the turn would have probably been more meaningful if benoit lost but at least this may shake up the tag team division. hopefully.

im not even going to comment on the chirsty-carmella match.

heavyweight title match

as much as i love HBK and admire him for fighting through his injuries, i really dont think he should have competed. all i can remember from this match is a lot of right hands, HHH going after HBKs knee, SCM and edge spearing HBK. a rly sucky match IMO. im really glad this wasnt the main event. actually this match really did sum up taboo tuesday - a lot of promise but ended up being crap.

legend v legend killer

match of the night IMO. which isnt hard considering. gutted that it was a cage match as id have loved to have seen orton win in a submission match. then he could have truely prevailed over the legend and killed him off. hopefully now flair can become orton's manager.

Despite the WWE fans being high on, well... whatever kids are high on these days that makes them prefer schoolgirl outfits over French maids, this was, by far, the best PPV since Wrestlemania. I certainly hope this becomes a yearly event, and not just a gimmick that mirrors election time. Well done, WWE.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Chris Jericho VS. Shelton Benjamin

This wasn't the best match to start with, partly because it'd be the first taste of "our" creation, and the match itself was pretty crappy. There was absolutely no chemistry between Y2J and Shelton for most of the match, and the only times it got exciting were during the close pinfalls. It was pretty disappointing, considering at least one of them, Shelton, is a great wrestler. Still, I was glad and surprised that Shelton won the belt. To me, it was out of nowhere, and that set the tone for the night that would follow.

Women's Championship - Diva Battle Royale: Trish Stratus (c) VS. Victoria VS. Gail Kim VS. Nidia VS. Molly Holly VS. Stacy Keibler - Schoolgirl Outfit

What can I say? I was sad to know most of the WWE fans chose schoolgirls over French maids, but when Trish came out my disappointment was put to rest. Plus, we got to see more of Nidia's new babies, and Trish lasted for the whole match. Not that it was a surprise, but it's still nice to point out and look at.

Weapon of Choice Match: Kane VS. Gene Snitsky - Steel Chain

This was your typical big men match up, but Kane's in-ring work kept me watching. He really plays his character and his feuds well, inside and out of the ring. Plus, the ending was hard but interesting to watch. I just wish Kane would've kicked all the EMTs and gone after Snitsky. That would've gotten a HUGE pop... but it's ok, the brutality of Snitsky was believable, although I question the validity of getting over a proven monster like Kane. Lastly, no surprise at the weapon of choice. WWE fans were too predictable in this case, just like with the Orton and Flair match, but that comes later.

Choose-the-Stipulation Match: Eugene VS. Eric Bischoff - Loser shaves head

WOOOOOW, you picked to shave off his head! That... is... really... smart. Because, oh, we know how affecting that was for more than one night with Big Show and Kurt Angle! Right...? Oh wait, THAT WASN'T THE CASE. Stupid choice, people. We'll be used to Bischoff's new scalp by... oh, next Monday night. Had you gone for the dress, at least you could've enjoyed the fact that Bischoff would be truly ashamed to come out every night on TV looking like a transvestite. Well, don't mind me... you keep fucking up my entertainment. I'll just sit over here and complain some more.

Overall, the segment was funny, thanks 110% to Vince McMahon. Of course, him and Coach had to come in and save the day from the audience's bad voting, but it was fun to watch nonetheless.

World Tag Team Title Match: La Resistance vs. Chris Benoit & Edge

YES!! Man, what a finish. If WWE does things right, Benoit could really benefit from this one; and by doing things right, I mean not giving Edge one half of the tag titles. Let Chris Benoit be the Superman of Raw by beating tag team after tag team all by himself. That will further cement his presence as a real threat to any superstar in the roster. Please, bookers, don't fuck this one up. Not to mention it would give life to these boring-as-of-late titles. This is by far my favorite moment of the whole night. Edge did a favor to Benoit by leaving. It's the best position The Crippler can be in while out of the World Title picture.

Choose The Contest:: Christy VS. Carmella - Lingerie Pillow Fight

Holy shit! That Christy... That is all.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Triple H (c) VS. HBK

I knew WWE fans would vote for HBK. I mean, I understand. This is only Trips and Shawn's 4,999,999 match together. THEY NEED 5 MILLION! But ignoring the majority of the fans' lack of intelligence, I must say that HBK played the real-but-not-quite role of being injured very well. He just showed why he's a legend by his tremendous in-ring psychology. It was a little odd to see Triple H getting his ass kicked by a one-legged man, but kudos to him for selling it. As I had guessed, Edge cost HBK the title. Trips is still champ. Nothing new, carry on.

Choose The Gimmick Match: Randy Orton VS. Ric Flair - Steel Cage Match

GREAT match. I really have nothing bad to say about this one. I still say Randy would've gotten more credibility as a main eventer had he beaten Ric Flair with a submission hold, but that would've made a less eye-catching main event. Since WWE and most of its fans are about short-term decisions and solutions, at least Randy and Ric delivered a top-of-the-line bout. Hopefully the ending will actually matter by the time Raw arrives.

I have always thought that this crap was a waste of time and I have never understood why we have to watch it during wrestling. The one thing that I found funny as hell about the Christy/Carmella match was that Carmella had been bragging about how she was the Playboy Playmate of the Year and then Christy pulled enhancements out of her top. Now, if the Playboy Playmate of the Year has to use breast enhancements....what does that say about rest of the playmates over the last year?

The one thing that I liked about the Sheldon/Jericho match...you really couldn't predict a winner on that one. Where Sheldon was an odd choice, the entire face vs face thing, the two of them really made it look like a "real" match and not something that was scripted out with the winner picked ahead of time.

Im starting to find Eugene very stale and watching him jumo up and down and clap when Vince came out made me hope somebody would come out and kick his ass.

Only 1 of my choices was succesful :'( . Man the Fans lack originality when it comes to matches.

A pretty weak PPV. I regret staying up late and being being able to stay awake at work today.

I enjoyed
Shelton vs Y2j
The Tag match
and Flair vs Orton..

Got to agree with you there. Eugene was funny for a while but now it's just getting boring and Regal's involvement is the only thing that I find entertaining right now.

Well I was refering to Orton over Flair. That match would have made Orton had it happened on an actual fucking PPV.

errr it's a real payperview, the only difference is it was on a tuesday

I hope they have Eric Bischoff strip Edge & Chris Benoit of the World Tag Team Championship on RAW next week, and have Edge & Christian become the new tag team champions. Edge & Christian vs. Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho (vs. William Regal & Eugene Dinsmore added eventually) would be tag team gold, IMO.
Umm strip them on what grounds????

I was pleasantly surprised by this PPV, it was a big step up from the last few dreary PPVs which have left me wishing I hadn't bothered watching them. Taboo Tuesday on paper looked crappy, and I nearly didn't bother watching it... but I did, and I'm glad I did.

* Shelton Benjamin was picking up momentum during his mini-feud with HHH, but it all died down and he ended up on the backburner. Hopefully, the Y2J/Benjamin match will serve two purposes:
1. Elevate Shelton to potential headliner status, as hinted at earlier this year. I believe that is Shelton gets fan support, he could be the first ever Afro-American WWE World champ.
2. Remove Jericho from the I-C championship. He is stale in this division and has held that belt far too often in too short a space of time. NOW is the time to push Jericho back into the main event, with a strong feud to carry him through winter/spring, ready for a long World title series in the post-WrestleMania months.

* The Women's championship is not about serious female action, because in reality WWE fans simply would not allow it, nor give credible women wrestlers any respect or any attention. Therefore, the Women's division is simply about the eye candy, and what better eye candy than a bunch of women messing about in schoolgirl outfits? Just accept it for what it is, because it's here to stay!

* I like Gene Snitsky, I think he looks like a crazy guy, even if his wrestling is not superb. He kinda reminds me of Nailz... a believable and watchable psychotic character portrayed very well, but when the bell rings, forget about it. With Kane on hiatus, it makes perfect sense to have Snitsky obliterate him before he leaves... it gets Snitsky over as a monster, passes the torch somewhat, adds fire to the Lita/Snitsky storyline which will probably end up with a Matt Hardy vs Snitsky feud in the coming months and then sets up a perfect return feud for Kane a few months down the line. Everybody's happy! Unless, of course, Snitsky gets another of those "Welcome to WWE" one-way tickets back to OVW (a la Heidenreich, Mordecai, Johnny Nitro etc etc)

* A comedy match, but Eugene is over, and does a good job for what is expected of him. I think he has longevity but will end up as a one man Bushwhacker-type. His time as a SUPERSTAR is over already. He's a bit of fun on a show which can sometimes overdose on the intensity though. Bischoff getting his head shaved was nothing new... Ric Flair shaved his head back in WCW, with the same result, ridicule at Eric's grey roots. And Vince McMahon feigning shock and laughing at Eric's grey hair was dumb... Bischoff walked around in WCW for three years with a full head of grey hair- don't tell me Mr McMahon NEVER saw it (or that we're meant to believe he didn't). Nevertheless, a Vince appearance is always entertaining and gives importance to a segment.

* Totally agree with Cyke on the Chris Benoit one-man Tag Team Champion idea... I called it before he even won the belts, during the show. It would make Benoit look unstoppable if he could have a run with the belts ALL BY HIMSELF, overcoming handicap odds every night, until one day he gets screwed over to lose the titles and had a new feud on his hands.

* Christy and Carmella are pretty hot, but maybe they should have just shoved them in the battle royal. One eye candy segment is enough, thanks WWE.

* Not knowing that the HBK injury was legit, I thought WWE had pulled a masterstroke in feigning a HBK injury and producing a great, psychology laden bout. As it were, the injury is supposedly real, but that just makes Michaels' performance that much better. A belter of a psychological affair, if not an HBK classic. Shawn vs Edge should produce Edge's greatest ever solo matches, which is not a bad thing, and WILL be the boost he needs to go all the way and take the World title in 2005 (... and feud with Jericho over it!! :D sounds good to me!)

* Ric Flair headlines his first WWE pay-per-view in a singles contest since WrestleMania VIII, in 1992. I wasn't expecting much of washed-up old Ric, one of my favourite ever wrestlers back in the day, but what a great match! I was enthralled from the opening bell, and old-school Nature Boy promos leading up to the contest really set the tone for an old-school Ric Flair contest, a slick lesson in psychology and heel mannerisms, and an overall quality match... okay, it wasn't perfect, and old Naitch screwed up a few times, but by recent Ric Flair form, it was an awesome display that "The Man" can still go, and he displayed glimpses of his former form in elevating Randy Orton and passing the torch with an intense handshake display at the end. A class act. And the RKO is the best finisher since the (quite similar) Stone Cold Stunner.

What a high note for the PPV to finish on, seeing Ric Flair in what will sadly but probably be his last EVER pay-per-view main event (unless WWE gives him that ONE LAST title run... go on, you know it makes sense!... just ONE month... out of respect... ah, fuck ya then!) and seeing Randy Orton continue to climb the ladder. I don't know why I'm reading so many bad reviews of Taboo Tuesday... I used to think that WWE fans were lashing out at the poor quality of the last 2 years, but when presented something very good, people still aren't happy. Lighten up! It won't go back to the quality of 2000 overnight, but shows like Taboo Tuesday, and matches like Flair-Orton, are a good start.

Patience, my friends... Vince still knows what he's doing!

Umm strip them on what grounds????

The grounds that Eric Bischoff is the GM, and he can do what he wants, as well as usuing the excuse that since Benoit doesn't want to team with Edge, and Edge won the Triple Threat, and got more votes, it's Benoit who ets the titles taken off him.

This would get heat, and although isn't rational, it is certainly explainable. If you had a makeshift tag team win the tag titles, and had to choose one to carry the tag titles, would you choose a singles wrestler, or a guy who's been a tag team wrestler for pretty much most of his career?

I'd chose the guy who won the match besides it's not like Benoit is an unexperianced Tag team wrestler or something.
