What did you guys think of the intro? I understand the beef against ABC considering it has obvious sexual situations during dinner time in many parts of the country. I personally was surprised at the skit, but I also found it funny. Tony Dungy thought it was racist because he thought it made black males look like womanizers, along the heels of the Kobe Bryant situation. I don't know if I'd stretch that far though. Its been debated to death too on all the sports talk shows, so I duno if you guys want to talk about it either.

I can see why some people are offended. I mean there is worse stuff on at that time but when you watch football you don't expect that kind of stuff.

But on the same lines the stuff that Jimmy Kimmel and Frank Caliendo do on Fox's pregame show could be seen as much worse than that.

IMO its a pretty bad double standard coming from people who are living in the past and can't come to terms with the existance of sexuality.

I myself am not offended by it at all. I think this got blown way out of proportion.
I heard one TV guy call it pornographic!!! Give me a break. Yea it probably was'nt appropriate for MNF, but it could have been much worse. MNF said they were sorry, so these guys should just move on.

Outlaw, I forget the exact details but it was TO talking to one of the chicks from desperate housewives, then she said something, dropped her towel, and they hugged. Obviously there was more to it than that, but I forget.

This world is too PC. Michael Powell and the FCC queers are going to come down really hard on this one, guaranteed.

What is it with America these days? What are we, living in the 1940's all over again? Why can't we look to other countries for guidance in this area? TV is what it is... and if you don't like it, change the channel. France, England, and pretty much all of Europe play whatever they what on TV, without so much as a flinch from viewers.

Let's get real here...

and LOL @ Tony Dungy. Get over yourself, bro. Race has nothing to do with it.

and Terrell Owens is saying it's because he's a "target"

I hate people sometimes.

Lol, I almost do agree tho, like if it was Duante Culpepper do you think there would be the same reaction?

I don't think anyone cared that it was actually T.O. in it I don't think that made people think it was worse, it was just the fact that the time it was shown with a half naked women on TV was causing the fuss look what happend at the superbowl with Janet last year... Anyway people need to let stupid shit like this go. No one cares really nor should they.

Personally, the whole thing wasn't really called for because football has nothing to do with Desperate Housewives, but i still didn't care. But for Dungy to say that it was racist, i don't know what was said, but being black myself if it was T.O., David Akers, or Nguyen, it wouldn't have made a difference. I guess what i am saying is that he shouldn't have brought the race card out because i never heard the stereotype that black men are womanizers. Shit, look at Hugh Heifner, Bill Clinton. THE WHOLE MALE SPECIES are womanizers! I think they used T.O. because right now, he is hot.

Now if they would have had T.O. in a Harris Teeter commercial eating watermelon then that is a whole different story.

Jon Stewart made a good point about this on "The Daily Show." I don't remember the exact quote, but he was basically pointing out how ironic it is that the sex in the opening sequence distracted families more than the beer commercials.

"Monday Night Football" is late-night TV. It doesn't come on until after any impressionable children should already be in bed. 8-9 EST is the "family hour." MNF starts at nine. 9:00 shows traditionally deal with adult situations. "CSI," anyone?

I hope those people didn't seek refuge from all the horrible sex by switching to "Everybody Loves Raymond" where Ray, once again, tries to coerce sex out of Debra before getting shot down because Debra is pissed at Ray's mom. At least, I'm assuming that's the plot. That's the plot of almost every episode I've ever seen.

The fuss is because of the time zones. MNF is on at 6 pm on the west coast.

I always thought MNF was a "live except on the West Coast" show.

So stupid. I don't even see how anyone can even care at all.

Big deal, a lady drops her towel and jumps into T.O's arms. I don't see what the big deal is. Everybodys been to the beach man, thats basically all you saw...a women's back :|

You're thinking of Raw. Pretty much all sporting events are live on the West Coast if they are live on the east.

It is so gay people care. Their lives must be so empty to make a fuss about Janet's tits, and now this.

You thought they ran Monday Night football on a tape?
On the west coast, yes. Almost nothing is shown at the same time in the west as it is in the east. That's why on ads for most live broadcasts, they say "Live, except on the west coast."

I just assumed MNF was like the Olympics or the Oscars or any other network program.

Silly me.

BCWWF
11-18-2004, 09:57 PM
They don't say that for major primetime sports, actually. They will say something like "The game coming up next, except on the West coast", which means that they are showing a different game there. I guarantee you that they do not delay primetime events on network television, and the Oscars are in LA if I'm not mistaken.

DegenerationY

I've never seen a professional game on national TV that was taped delayed. MNF starts at 6pm here, which I guess is the main gripe.

And i'm still dumbfounded about Tony Dungy's comments and TO's "apology"

There's a terrible double standard going on, and it's only going to get worse...

Agree with everyone. These whiners need to get their heads out of their asses.

Hell, half of America's problems related to sex are the result of society being so hush hush about sex and shit, so kids decide to try to find out by themselves in the inevitable act of rebellion that all youths undergo. If we were more open about this, it wouldn't be a damn problem, but you're always going to have these uptight asses citing century old ethics and claims and riling up a useless storm.
