View Full Version : Earl Hebner needs to retire

I know, we don't talk much about the referees in these boards, but last night I noticed that Earl Hebner has been there FOREVER, and any match that he's refereeing have gotten so predictable it's not funny.

This is because he can hardly come snapping up after a two count like some of the other referees do, and he's rather lazy at counting the near falls, and looks more and more tired the more I see him.

The role of the referee is to make the matches believable and realistic, and anything that has Earl Hebner as ref anymore isn't believable because he too much of a snail doing anything anymore. I'm thinking he should retire. Disagree with me if you must, but I think this time, the ref should be the one to be discussed.

Not to mention every match I see him in has him getting "knocked out" at some point during the match. :|

Earl Hebner is the man!

In all honesty, him and the fink, both deserve to be in the hall of fame one day!

I wouldn't call him lazy or say that him not "snapping up" like other referees hurts him. Granted, if I had to pick my favorite referee, it would be Timmy White, who seemingly just doesn't referee anymore, but Hebner's pretty cool too.

I am personally not a fan of Chioda. Jack Doan's pretty cool though.

Whatever, Nick Patrick is better.

I remember when Hebner was involved in storylines for a while. Wasn't his job in jeopardy if he didn't count somebody out or something?

Nick Patrick and WCW referees in general blew, but as far as getting heel heat, Patrick can get the job done.

I don't mind Charles Robinson. He's got an interesting look.

I do like Mike Chiota as well, and pretty much every other referee in the WWE. I sort of like the way Earl Hebner is relaxed in there. It makes him seem so seasoned.

Hmm..

Who was the referee who "humped the canvas" everytime he counted a guy's shoulders down? Not sure who the guy was, or what happened to him.

How many times did Earl screw someone in a match?

TWICE.

Name the other guy that's not Bret Hart?

HINT: Babyface refs don't screw guys, except for out of story. But this is within a storyline.

ANOTHER HINT: He got booed when he "screwed" this person.

Tim White is STILL injured I believe...from the Jericho-HHH match (I think), when Jericho threw him into the cage.

Tim White is good tho, i remember when hewas dancing with the godfather's hoes once and got really into it :D

I like Chioda, he takes bumps the best, and he counts when ppl are down really loud, to help get the crowd involved. Little Hebner is good too, i like how he flees the ring wheneva taker turns around and looks at him :D

I also like Jim (i think its Jim) Khordaris. He's cool and he (and Tony Chimel) waved when i called out to them at the melbourne house show

Triple H.

Actually, reading your other hint, it's at least three. I know he wasn't booed when he screwed Triple H, since Triple H was a heel at the time...

Unless you're talking about Hulk Hogan. Yeah, you're talking about the infamous twin Hebners debacle.

Well Timmy came back at Mania XX and refereed Jericho vs. Christian. He shouldn't "still" be injured, based on a conversation I had with him in 2003 though. If anything, he could've reaggrivated it.

Ha! I was gonna say HHH, even though I know LC wasn't referring to that one. Too bad his decision got overturned, and Jericho was denied the title. :'(

YES, Pepsi Man is right. Hulk Hogan got screwed by Hebner, leading to Andre winning the World Title before Mania 4.

Personally, I classify the HHH thing as payback rather then a screwjob.

BTW: Here's another one and Pepsi Man can't answer. What kind of a "finish" is the Jericho/HHH fiasco refered to as in wrestling?

In other words, that finish has been done before and it has a certain name in the world of pro wrestling.

I thought a dusty finish was where you ended up a fat bloated joke, who died of a heart attack, only to be remembered as the guy from the "kiss my ass match" and "that fat guy who sucked up TNA time."
