just curious what some of you guys consider to be the biggest F ups of all time in the great history of wrestling, not in any particualr order or anything just random things that we all look back on now and go wtf were they thinking.

there are the obvious like you know doink!! WTF vince???

but others like having hogan take out yokozuna in like 14 seconds at wm9, how much damage did wwf do to bret and yoko's credibility only to have hogan bail in 3 months after??

my all time hands down has to be arquette winning wcw world title, are u f'ing serious, i would give anything to have the dolorean to be able to go back in time to be in that production meeting where that was decided to laugh my ass off!!

any others guys???

Shut up. Shut up right now.

Arquette being champ was a big blunder to the fans but it wasnt for WcW....

In an interview with Russo he said that because of them putting the belt on him they were able to get great coverage from many different medias and they were able to get on air promos by Arquette and a bunch of his big time celebrity friends...(I believe they were Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox) for free. Russo said it was worth it and that he would do it all again today.

But us fans still consider it a big ass blunder

I've just realised Funky said this word for word, (I thought I heard it somewhere before) sorry but yeah I agree doink = amazing heel, the WWE could have done a whole lot worse, like an evil ice cream man (see chitty chitty bang bang) at least I think its an ice cream man...

WCW putting the 1st Hogan - Goldberg title match on Nitro instead of PPV. It couldve drawn big money

From a financial aspect I think that was one of the worst things ever. Yeah they beat RAW that week. Bunch of idiots.

In terms of gimmicks most of what is found on wrestlecrap. Although I must admit for the 80's stuff I am a little less inclined to be so negative about it as cheese was part of the fun.

Although it must have been tough for Vince to know what to do. Going through with the Over the Edge PPV even though one of his wrestlers just died to me is a major blunder. The show must go on, but it just seems so callous in retrospect given the circumstances.

Loose Cannon
05-05-2005, 01:29 PM
Yea, saying Matt Borne sucked in the role of Doink is completely ridiculous. Borne busted his ass with what he was given and actually got the gimmick over to the poinr where people were actually cheering him. I mean, come on. Borne knew exactly what to do in that role. It's just to bad he had some problems behind the scenes.

Then Russo is a colossal dumbass

The people I know who are either casual fans or not fans at all who know of the Arquete incident say that it's one of the stupidest things they had ever heard about, and that it lowered their opinion of WCW

I liked that ending, its not very often a falls count anywhere match actually goes outside the arena, or the ringside area for that matter.

Speaking of which anybody remember the Wrestlemania (VIII, I think) match between Randy Savage and Crush? All I remember is Savage stringing Crush up by his ankles to win the match, but I can't remember the gimmick. All I know was it wasn't so good.

Shaggy

I think a big blunder for me was that at all the WCW Road Wild ppvs if they had a hardcore falls count anywhere match they would always say---Falls Count anywhere in the city because it was an open building. Yet not once did they ever leave the building...what a waste

The match stipulated it was falls count anywhere but the pinned opponent had a certain amount of time (me thinks 30 seconds) to get back into the ring or the pin would stand and he'd lose.

Explains why Savage tied Crush upside down from a scaffold after pinning him - to prevent Crush returning to the ring and voiding the pin.

After what seemed like an hour of Savage trying to hoist that fat bastard up in the air from his feet, Crush lasted about 3 and a half seconds before falling on his head and ruining the entire climax.

Results from that match...

"Judy Bagwell On A Pole" Match
"Positively" Kanyon vs. Buff Bagwell with Judy Bagwell
*If Kanyon Wins, Judy Bagwell Will Become His "Kimberly"!
Kanyon drives a forklift to the ring. He raises it with Judy Bagwell on top and enters the ring to do some mic work. Kanyon says he could not find a pole that would hold Judy up so the match is now officially a "Judy Bagwell on a forklift match." Buff comes out and the match starts on the outside and then into the crowd. Match goes into the ring and Buff hits a swinging neckbreaker. Buff backs Kanyon into the corner for ten shots to the head. Kanyon counters and hits a russian leg sweep from the middle turnbuckle. Kanyon grabs a pair of wire cutters and takes off the turnbuckle pad exposing the steel. Kanyon slapjacks Buff to the mat for a two count. Kanyon locks a cobra clutch on Buff which brings Buff down to the mat. Buff powers his way out of it but gets hit by a neckbreaker from Kanyon for a two count. Buff drops Kanyon across the exposed turnbuckle. Kanyon hits the kanyon cutter for a two count. DDP's music hit and out comes David Arquette. Buff clotheslines Kanyon. Buff goes uip top but Arquette hits him with a hard hat. Buff pulls Arquette into the ring. Buff clotheslines Arquette and Kanyon. Buff goes up top and hits both of them with the blockbuster for the pin. Buff lowers the forklift and gets Judy down and they hug. Kanyon hugs Arquette then gives him the kanyon cutter.
Winner: Buff Bagwell
