Worst WrestleMania?

Which WrestleMania do you think was the worst? And any particular reason why? I think IX blew, because the whole concept was stupid, XI was weak (LT vs. Bam Bam Bigelow?!?!?!?), and I don't know if XX lived up to the hype.

My least favorite Wrestlemania of all time has to be 9.

None of the matches were any good, in fact most of them were pretty bad. Seeing Bret Hart job to Yokozuna, and then Yoko job to Hogan in under 30 seconds, is one of the worst endings in wrestling history. And when the highlight of the event includes JR in a toga and midget Doink the Clowns, you know it's pretty bad.

I think Wrestlemania 2 is the worst. The matches were really boring, the main even sucked, and the boxing match between Piper and Mr T was horrible - Piper loses because he bodyslams Mr T :wtf: . Plus the commentating is the worst I've ever heard... ever

2000 was the worst overall. Just shitty matches and shitty outcomes.

My least favoreite is Wrestlemania 5. Not just cause I missed the Clash of the Champions 6, and one of the best matches ever. :'( A match I didn't get to see until years later. I also don't like it cause there were way to many (short) matches, and i can't think one match I remember liking. 13 was horrible too, but it was SAVED by hart/austin

As a fan, WrestleMania XX was horrible (mainly because I was expecting the PPV of the gods) but I marked out for the tap out heard around the internet.


As a smark/wrestling purist, I would have to say WrestleMania IX. It was a horrible card, horrible matches, horrible ending, and a horrible gimmick (seriously, WTF was Vince smoking?)

there has been some bad wrestlemanias. i would probably say XI is my least favourite. We have Lawrence Taylor in the grandaddy of them alls main event, the biggest wrestling event and hes never had a match, and bam bam bigelow is his opponent, my god, plus the undercard was poor.

others are 2, the matches bored me and 2000. I recently watched 2000 and one thing, there is not one one-on-one match on the entire card. every match was a tag match other than one triple-threat (great match tho) a fatal 4way and the ladder match (not a typical tag match).

The worst I paid money for was XIX. It had its great moments (Jericho/Michaels in particular), but the endings to pretty much every match sucked. Whether it was Michaels getting a roll-up to absolutely no one's delight to Earl Hebner reading War and Peace before making the three-count for HHH/Booker T, just about every ending to every match on the card sucked.

The worst of all time though is probably a toss-up between Mania IX and Mania 2000.

Mania 2000 had some good stuff in it (Jericho/Angle/Benoit and the unofficial first TLC), but there's just too much shit in there. If it wasn't the senseless tag team matches, it was the Godfather's horrible entrance music ("Pimpin' ain't, pimpin' ain't easy man" over and over and over and over and over) and Chester McCheeserton. Not to mention the main event for WM2K was horribly booked, as we had Mick Foley's last match as a full-time wrestler, where he inexplicably turns heel against the Rock, gets booed, and then jobs to Hunter for the third PPV in a row. You'd think that after that we'd at least get to see the Rock save the day and give us some semblance of a happy ending, but we don't even get that, as Hunter gets the pin only to drop the title a month later in an inconsequential match that few remember.

But now that I'm thinking about it, even the stew of nonsenical crap that was Mania 2000 couldn't stack up to Mania IX. Taker/Giant Gonzales, JR in a toga, and Hulk Hogan setting Bret Hart's main event push back a year. Hunter's politicking is deplorable, but he doesn't hold a candle to Hogan's bullshit.

I don't think WM 9 is all that bad, however, I do think 2000 sucked the most.

WM 9 at least had Michaels / Tatanka, Headshrinkers / Steiners, Backlund / Hall.

Let's wait until this Mania clears, and then run this thread again :shifty:

No real buildup for matches, about a week before they put Road Dogg in the IC title match and BIlly GUnn in the hardcore title match (that made absolutely no sense).

The only good thing was the Chyna-HHH double turn when Chyna came back to DX, then they both turned on DX in the Xpac-Shane match.

Wrestlemania 9 was fun...who can forget a nearly 8 foot man dressed in a big foot costume using chloroform on the Undertaker.

I thought 9,11,13(withthe exception of Hart-Austin) were the worst WrestleManias. 20 was really good...though overhyped, but that sure as hell doesn't make it one of the worst.

18 sucked apart from Rock Vs HoganNo DDP vs Christian was good Rock vs Hogan was good Kane vs Angle was good. Hall vs Austin was pretty good. and the main event was decent enough.

not to mention Flair vs Taker was really good too. Crowd poped huge for Double A's Spine-buster on Taker. I'd say that match was 2nd best of the night.

Neither did I. The atmosphere was pretty sweet I thought.

As for worst, it seems like they all had some good points. Even WM II had the originality factor going for it.

XI was probably the weakest for me with VII coming in second. VII atleast had a great World and IC title match, but since no one has mentioned it yet, there you go.
