I just read about this in Sports Illustrated and then looked at its website a bit, and I think its a really cool idea. I don't know how many people are fans of amateur wrestling at all, but its really pretty cool. My college was #12 in the nation or something this year and I went to one of their matches, the way they set it up created a pretty sweet atmosphere. Its all dark with just a big light hanging over the mat, its real intense and bad-ass. Dunno, they did the same thing at my high school with the dark gym and hanging light.

It's hard to say if this will actually take off, one huge thing going against it is good tv time. Its on like Fox Sports Net and PAX I think, and on in the afternoons. If it can start to gain a little momentum though, I think it could be pretty cool. What do you guys think?

that wrestling is as fake as it comes.

Isn't all wrestling real?

seriously, I wish my HS had amateur wrestling cause I would of definately done it. NY isn't big on it I don't think. Minnesota is very very big on it though.

Yeah Minnesota was top 10 in the nation this year. The midwest is where it is the biggest I think, the Big 12 had 5 teams in the top 12 and the Big 10 had quite a few high ranked teams too.

My high school's wrestling team is pretty damn good. Its only a matter of time before you get DX running in with a chair or something though. :(

This league seems to be doing it right though, having teams instead of individuals and a lot of the teams have regional wrestlers, like I know at least two guys on the Minnesota team went to the university of Minnesota.

Yeah teams that are good all the time are in the midwest.

Isn't OU and Iowa State pretty much powerhouses?

I wouldn't mind watching it.

OSU and Iowa State are 1 and 2, I think Oklahoma is high up there too though. OSU, ISU, Nebraska, OU, and Missouri are the top Big 12 teams.

Yeah, I watched some college wrestling on TV the other day. Pretty good stuff.

I don't really like the set-up they use for like NCAA nationals as much, for the smaller meets they just have one mat and everything, it makes it feel all underground or something.

Without the big names, they'll die. They don't have the big names :(

Well arguable the biggest name is signed on, but he's a commentator I think. Cael Sanderson is the top dog right now isn't he? Dunno, but the regional draft should help that.

When did commentators ever draw?

BCWWF

I never said he did, but (in the US at least), Rulon Gardner is probably the only wrestler (if any) that people would know, there aren't very many big name wrestlers.

It is on FSN right now for the record, almost over though

If they don't get Dan Gable to do something, this will mean fuck all.

They should bring in Kevin Nash, he'll draw.

Dan Gable is involved, I forget what he does though

James Steele

Ok, because Dan Gable is arguably (and not really all that arguable actually) the greatest wrestler of all time. His record speaks for itself.

I watched the show today, there are definately things they need to do to improve it, but the production and commentating was good, which is a good start

I didn't even know it was debuting yet. I'll have to wait til it comes on PAX. PAX is awesome because it has Supermarket Sweep and now wrestling.

Lol I used to be real into Supermarket Sweep back in the day. But yeah, I think they have already had at least one episode on FSN before today. Check out the website or something?

My local newspaper had something on it awhile back and it screwed up on the debut date.
