July 15, 2005 - In the first of IGN's exclusive Video Blogs direct from San Diego's Comic-Con International, voice actor Billy West (Fry, Zoidberg, the Professor, and many more voices for many more shows) revealed to us that a brand-new direct-to-video Futurama movie has been greenlit. Not only that, but there is also an option for a second movie as well.

With the model established by Family Guy's return – where a direct-to-video movie eventually spawned the show's return to Fox primetime as well – could the much-missed Futurama also be on the way back to a set near you?

You know that bit where Fry finds out he has like $6 Billion in his bank account, foams at the mouth then collapses? Thats me right now.

Strange they think that, what with it not having been released yet and all. If anything it was the sales of the DVDs that caused it.

Glad to see Futurama will be back in some capacity though. :y:

With 2 hot models who have just been picked for playboy

So you reckon there's any chance of another series then?

If Fox brings it back, I will leave a TV on Fox nonstop to give them ratings forever or until they cancel it again.

Finally, the return of Bender Bending Rodriguez!

I can't wait! People, let's forget about it this time... though I think that will be up to Fox and their wonderful way of scheduling things. [/those assholes]

I'm disappointed that the thread title didn't have "Good news everyone" in there.

Otherwise, this is awesome.

Billy West posted this on his message board a couple days ago:

HERE'S GREAT NEWS!
Here's the official word on Futurama!!

David X. phoned me about an hour ago and said that this Futurama project
is a done deal! Here's the word from DX---

There are 4 DVD movies that we'll start recording at the end of July or
August. Full feature length FUTURAMA movies.

Everybody is excited to get back together--as I am!

Into the Future,
Billy

In fact, it was DVD sales which spawned the return, so...

However, that's not to say this isn't a test run.

I just hope they don't fuck it up like they did with the Family Guy movie.
