I thought they were doing a live draft, lottery balls and all on Saturday. This is bullshit. Way to completely miss the boat on this one, NHL.

I'm seriously pissed off about this.

PS, they've (Pittsburg) simply got the #1 pick, they haven't chose him yet. The order has been determined.

What a bunch of bullshit. :nono:

The Pens have said that with the new CBA, they will now be "buyers" on the free agent market, and will no longer be selling off players such as Jagr, Kovalev, Straka, etc.

It will be very interesting to see if Kovy and some skilled vets sign with Pittsburgh. If they add a couple forwards such as Kovalev, and just develop some defensive skill / sign a couple quality defensemen, that team could instantly jump into a potential cup contender. At the very least, if Eddie O can coach the team reasonably well, they should be able to return to the post-season.

I still think that Mario can become the oldest Art Ross winner. He should have had it a couple years ago before he was injured / lost Kovalev.

lol wow...

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=131254

The Penguins sold scores of season-ticket packages Friday night to fans from 10 states and Canada, even though ticket-buyers had to wait 45 minutes on hold just to get an operator.

Other phones are ringing, too. With hundreds of players about to be dumped on the free agent market Aug. 1, some had their agents call general manager Craig Patrick.

Crosby's gonna be the best thing to happen to the Pens since Lemieux himself. Gonna rockkkkk <3

My question is this though..the Pens already had Mario, and they had fucking Jagr..and a ton of other stars at one time. How come they are struggling at times with attendance then? It's like fuck, you've got Jagr, and to be honest, Crosby wont be as good as Jagr.
But still, nice to see the Pens franchise improving again, and hopefully now the fans can stay on board knowing they wont always be losing a bunch of players as well.

Shut up Yash. Daigle tore up the junior ranks. He was the next big thing. No one can be sure what Crosby will do. He's a safe bet to have an impact immediately, but those were the thoughts on Daigle too. NO ONE CAN EVER BE POSITIVE

Kapoutman
07-24-2005, 06:26 PM
Remember Pat Fallon? Same thing as Daigle. We can't be sure what he will do, but if he is anything like he was in the juniors, he's gonne be up there with Gretzky and Lemieux.

Daigle wasn't even close to what Crosy is now.

The Pens are going to have a pretty decent team now. I'm excited. I wanted him to go to Boston, Philly or Pitt.

Now they hopefully have Fleury in net, Mario, Crosby, Recchi and Tarnstrom. Not to mention the free agents and the young up and comers like Malone and Koltsov.

Like YH said...shut up yash

Daigle JR stats:

1992-93 Victoriaville QMJHL 53 45 92 137 - 85
1991-92 Victoriaville QMJHL 66 35 75 110 - 63
1990-91 Laval QAAA 42 50 60 110 - 98

137 points in 53 games played
110 points in 66 games played

Crosby has 135 points in 59 games played and 168 points in 62 games played.

Yes Crosby has more points, but its not a huge difference. The hype around Daigle was pretty damn close to what it is with Crosby. No one can really say why Daigle didnt produce...he had the talent, hell, he still has the talent. Perhaps the pressure got to him. Crosby could crash and burn, or he could become the next Mario. But at this stage of his career, compared to Daigle at the same time, there is no way you can say that Crosby is 3x the player...unless you're a fucking moron.

shut up klown

Daigle had/has no passion, and that's what makes Crosby the real deal.

KleptoKlown
07-25-2005, 05:41 PM
So Daigle was able to get 137 points in 53 games....with no passion for the game at all?

Wow, imagine if he did have a passion for the game, then think of his stats.

Kinda hard for a 17 year old kid getting Ferraris' and multi million dollar endorsment deals to keep focused on hockey.

FACT is, Daigle and Crosby are very comparable in terms of hype, potential, and skills before they were drafted. If you cant see that, then you're a fucking moron.

Im not saying Crosby is going to be a bust. I hope he scores 100 goals in a season.

The potential is there for him to be the next Wayne or Mario....but theres also the potential for another Daigle or Falloon.

MoRcHeEbA
07-25-2005, 05:41 PM
the difference was that Daigle couldn't handle the media and everything. Crosby is better at handling it. He could crash and burn but I believe he is the real deal. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him put up over 100 points in his rookie season.

There is lots of differences between the two. With the Pens, Crosby will play with Mario, so thats not going to do anything but help him. Daigle didnt have the same thing in Ottawa. If I remember correctly, Ottawa was still a young team, and didnt have many vets.

The Lemieux factor is going to be huge for Crosby. If Mario stays healthy all season, I could honestly see Crosby getting 50+ goals. Even I could score a couple of goals if I had Lemeiux passing. Just leave your stick on the ice, and he'll do the rest. We all know that Mario isnt going to stay healthy all season, so how well is Crosby going to do on his own?

Either way, its going to be exciting to watch this team.

Crosby compares more to like Lindros. imo Lindros never equalled his hype. Crosby hopefully will.

I bet Ovechkin is loving the fact that he isnt getting nearly the hype here.

I think Crosby is a little overated as I see him being a Steve Yzerman/ Pat Lafontaine hybrid not the next coming of Gretzky or Lemieux.

Same. Nor is he as talented as a Jagr or Forsberg, imo.

Lindros was probably the best thing to ever happen to the Nordiques/Avs. What a deal they got from it. :D

As for Corsby, I see him more like Gretzky than Lemieux or anybody else. Lemieux has a presence on the ice because he's tall and imposing. Gretzky was this fast little guy who could manoeuver around everybody. With Lemieux, sometimes he seems to be going in slow motions. He's so good he makes things look too simple.
