My prediction

Lines are open with Carolina getting 6.5 and 7.

I like the Pats to win, not sure about the cover, might have to take carolina and the points, or tease it with the over/under. (currently around 37.5).

Pats 30
Carolina 20

Dunno why, everything looks low scoring defense and ball control, so I'll just go with the oposite logic of some TD burns and a lot of FG's.

New England's D doesn't let Delhomme or Davis do anything, they take a big lead, maybe score a defensive TD. Meanwhile Carolina's D does well but can't overcome the offensive woes. I'm going with...

25-14 New England

Panthers over Pats.

Close game.

21-14.

Pats fail to reach the endzone as time expired reachin the 5 yard line.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
01-23-2004, 12:09 PM
I DUNNO....I am not as confident about as this game as I was about the AFC Championship

Panthers remind me way too much of the Pats 2 years ago, when they beat the Rams. But the Patriots are nothing like the Rams so hopefully everything will work out.

2 Years ago Patriots compaired to Carolina now.

Solid Running Games
Good Defense
Underrated/Unheard of guys playing great on both sides of the ball
2 no name QBs at the start of the season (Brady is a better QB tho IMO)

I think the Patriots will win it, but after reading more and more about the Panthers I am starting to wonder.

Alot of people(including Warren "I'm sitting at home" Sapp) are saying the Pats OLine won't be able to block the Panthers upfront but I don't know, they shut down Dwight Freeney. And Freeney is better then Rucker and Peppers IMO. But Dwight Freeney is also only one guy..while the Panthers whole DLine is nasty.

24-10 Carolina.

Nothing against the Pats, the Panthers are just on a roll at this stage, no stopping them.

I think the Pats will definitely win this game. I'm having trouble deciding on what the score is going to be, though. My guesses are 24-10, 24-13, 21-10, and 21-13. The reason I'm being so damn picky is because I'm in a $60 pool guessing on the composite score of the Super Bowl, so yeah.

LMAO...

The Tuck...

How about talk about playing dead for Tampa Bay?

Sure, Brady's over-rated... all he does is make smart plays, doesn't make dumb mistakes and oh yeah... wins games.

He's not a Dan Marino.

But then again, Dan Marino doesn't have a superbowl ring.

VonErich Lives

Somebody needs to start talking shit or something, Rodney Harrison needs to call somebody a pussy or something to get some big time hype going on

Harrison got pissed during the "Media day" which is a complete circus, everyone gets in it seems... someone always sends a kid, a guy dressed as a clown, everyone sends hot chicks to ask questions...

*credit www.bostonherald.com "Inside Track" collum*

HOUSTON - Things got ugly at Super Bowl XXXVIII yesterday when Ross The Intern from Jay Leno's ``Tonight Show'' asked Rodney Harrison a question the New England Patriots tough guy thought was out of bounds!

``What's the wildest place you and your wife ever made whoopie,'' queried the curious intern.

``What did you say? What did you say?'' a rather perturbed Rodney asked.

Which prompted Paul Zimmerman from Sports Illustrated - who no doubt wanted to ask the 10 millionth X-and-O question of the week - to pile right on!

``Get the hell out of here,'' Zimmerman shouted.

``What are you, the kicker?'' replied Ross.

``Yeah, I'll kick your ass,'' says S.I.

All of which must have calmed down Harrison, who finally answered he wouldn't ``disrespect my wife that way'' by answering. BTW, Mrs. Harrison is set to deliver the couple's first child a couple of days after the Super Bowl. So perhaps the dad-to-be is a little overprotective at the mo.

LOL wtf

What I thought was funny was Steve Smith's interview. DId anyone catch it?

I'll try to dig up some quotes from it.

Mainly, they were talking about how all but two (I don't remember exactly how many?) of the teams Carolina played in the reg. season had losing records.

His response?

"Is that our fault?! Is it our fault that they lost? Is it our fault they sucked?"

Carolina WILL win. Just watch. People have been betting against them since the beginning. It comes down to Stephen Davis, and the Pats linebackers, though. I think the secondary can be delt with. The eagles have three pro-bowlers in their secondary, and they still managed. If the linebackers stop Stephen Davis, Carolina doesn't have a chance in hell, but dont count on that.

Carolina 17-13

Jesus Shuttlesworth
02-01-2004, 01:01 AM
I think the only the Panthers offense will able to attack the Patriots defense will be if they can get certain Patriot LBs into coverage on short patterns. I don't think that Carolina's stlye though so it will be interesting to see if they'd attempt to do it.

Tranny
02-01-2004, 01:11 AM
It's hard to say. The Patriots Linebackers are hard..nearly impossible to read. But something tells me Carolina has something up their sleeve.

Bad Guy
02-01-2004, 04:07 AM
Still going with 7-3 Patriots. It's been a good run for the Panthers but I don't see them winning this one. Just too much talent and Caronlina is one dimensional...

VonErich Lives
02-01-2004, 08:01 AM
Ok, I'm still going Pats, close in the 1st half blow out in the 2nd.

That being said, "If I was John Fox" this is how I'd try and beat the Pats.

Forget Stephen Davis, give the ball to Foster, run him outside, off-tackle, run short screens, Get the Pats DL and LB going east to west.

Passing, get Steve Smith on Poole and go deep, Post, Fly, Flag.

Get Muhhamad on whoever and run 10-20yd outs. Take advantage of his height.

Don't go accross the middle, don't let the Pats come at you North-South where they can hit and do damage.

On defense, Just rush the front 4 and leave the a MLB to spy the HB. Double up (short-bump and deep) on the WR's. giving the bump at the line will slow them down and screw up those short outs.

Well, that's how I'd try and do it.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
02-01-2004, 01:03 PM
Id also get Phifer in coverage on like a Tight End or something, he can't cover guys

He got lucky last time holding Pollard and shit, probably won't fly this time though

Hmm... the Superbowl ended up being average this year. Hot finishes to each half made up for horrible first and third quarters, and it was great seeing Adam win it again. I hate the Panthers, so I'm ecstatic they lost.

It was an ugly defensive game during the odd quarters and a pretty exciting game during the ends of the halves. The halftime show was pretty stupid, especially Janet's staged stripping. The streaker was interesting. I was kinda hoping he'd do a real life executation of that Nike commericial where no one could catch him.

Commercials were below par this year. Only about three good ones and none that were truly memorable.

Overall, I'd give it a C+ or B-

usually I would be mad about the pats win, but im happy they won... they played an awesome game this was probably one of the top 3 super bowls I have ever seen. NewEngladn deserved to win. I thought that carolina may have had the game and this really reminded me of the superbowl with st.louis and ew england... **** im drunk either way, im gald the better team won tonight... even though I have to agree with yash :$

Hey stima, did I not say that the Pats were gonna win?

I knew it...I just put my money on them and cheered on the Panthers, cause thats all that matters in the end, the money.ahhhhhh thats great

But you still said Vinteri was not clutch, then he went on to hit the game winning field goal......AGAIN

Warren Sapp was in the best SB Commercial this year with all the players singing for the NFL Network: lol yeah

Warren Sapp also said the Patriots OLine couldn't handle the Dline of the Panthers

Can somebody remind me how many sacks they got? So unstopable they musta had like atleast 7

I fell asleep during the first half. :$

Also, LOL@all the cheap shots. Three that I saw were Brusci (sp?) going at Davis on a pile, the LB for the Pats that went to the receivers throat, and the guy that took a shot at Jake when he threw that td (As he was running down the field to celebrate). I'm sure there were more.

Meh, I was pretty indifferent this super bowl. I was for the Panthers, but it didn't kill me that they didn't win. I always pull for the underdog pretty much.

Ended up being a good game though. :y:

Guess everybody that said Delhomme wasn't in the same league as Brady can eat their words now. 16/33 (A lot of those were ones he threw away) Over three hundred yards, 3 td's and no INT. Brady had a few more yards and the same amount of TD's with one INT. Great game by both QB's I thought.

Also, lol@Davis having ten more attempts but only 6 more yards than Foster.

Pats over the Panthers. I won't guess a score since I think it'll be very close.

Do I know how to call it or what? :D

Very boring game until the middle of the 3rd quarter. Great finish, but overall not a classic.

Roberts performed an Irish Jig in front of Carolina kicker John Kasay and was trying to elude security officials when New England Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham flattened him with an elbow. Roberts was carried off the field hogtied by security.

Talking about the streaker, gotta love football....one of the players takes him out instead of just standing their waiting for the sercurity to do it for them

Yeah, it's funny, if you watch the Replay, Chattam was going full speed, there was another Patriot going after him and a panther looked like from the bench coming full speed. I would have loved if the Panther nailed him from 1side the same time chattam hit him and they broke his ribs or something.

Honestly one of the best games i've seen in years. This whole playoffs was awsome. The Green Bay/Eagles game was another awsome game. Hard fought game, but the Pats did play better thoughout the game, and they deserved to win.
