And which do you think is the best and, most importantly, why? This is only current gen mind you as I am not interested in knowing who has a Saga Saturn or something of that nature.

I have a cube. I'd like to have a PS 2 as well, but cash flow dictates otherwise. As far as the best, I'd have to toss it up between the cube and the PS2. Nintendo alone as a developer is a god reason to invest in the cube. On the other hand, PS2 has pretty much all the genres I'm interested in well provided for. Also, if I had one, I wouldn't miss out on those PS2/Xbox exclusives like GTA and Guilty Gear and so on.

I have all 3. I'd say that the BEST would be the PS2 simply because of it's large library of great games. The Gamecube comes in as a close second because of the quality of the games that it has.

Im a gamer always have been always will be. Im part of Gaming R in the UK so i get random top games for both the PS2 and XBOX delivered once in a while on rental. :y:

I love the PS2 because it was the first console i got out of the two. I got it on launch day and it still works amazingly to this day!

I love games like the Smackdown Series, Timesplitters, Mercenaries, SSX was a great little game back in the day and it even got my whole family hooked on the PS2 at the time. Getting GTA earlier than everyone else! There's a lot i love about the PS2, i would say mainly though its the Smackdown Series for me, that alone sells the console to me. :y:

The Xbox i love too even though for all his billions Bill cant seem to get anyone to make an ABOVE AVERAGE WRESTLING GAME!

Other than that though you have games like Halo 1 & 2, Spartan Total Warrior, Knights of The Old Republic I & II, Xbox is great for shoot em ups like Halo again and Far Cry, it seems to handle graphics like that a little better than the PS2 for me. Also games like Splinter Cell always seem that little bit better graphics wise on the XBOX - and smoother too. :y:

Even with all that said though i still prefer my PS2.. :D

I always speak my mind anyway, but when it comes to consoles i really speak my mind because I HAVE BOTH. I'll have both a XBOX 360 and a PS3 again later next year simply because i love gaming its my release, others have porn but i have my gaming after a long day at the office. :y:

I would say in the future im more looking forward to the PS3 - simply for the smackdown series, MGS games, and the next gen GTA. Plus i want to see how good SSX can be compared to the PS2 version just to see how much better it is. :naughty:

All 3 plus a PSP and a DS too. The DS is just played more than anything at the moment.

I've got all 3 of the main consoles, and my order goes like this:

Xbox > Gamecube > PS2.

I'll get games like Madden and SvR for PS2, as well as the Final Fantasy games, but if there's a game that's ported to all three systems (like Shadow the Hedgehog. November 17th, bitches. ), I'll ALWAYS get it on Xbox or Gamecube (Xbox mostly).

When I was watching Raw the other night, I kept seeing these commercials for the PS2 version of RE4. I've owned it on Gamecube since day one, and I LOVE it. So I'll have to buy it on PS2 just for the extras, the fact not withstanding that it doesn't look as great in contrast to the Gamecube version. I try to stay away from fanboy-ism, but it always kind of sneaks in there a bit. Why get a multi-platform game on a console that has worse loading times and slightly worse graphics?

But at heart, I have to claim that I'm a Sony fanboy, despite the fact that their console is the weakest of the three (technology wise, anyway). All my money is going on the PS3 when it comes out. Truth.

PS2 only

I'm far more interested in going retro than going forward, so I'm kinda likely to get a Mega Drive or an N64 rather than an XBox or Gamecube or whatever the next generation are

I own all three and for me the hierarchy goes:

Game Cube

Its lack of loading time, quality of game-play, and they easy to transport nature of this system makes it an easy choice for no.1. From the Legend of Zelda series all the way down to good ol Mario (yes I said it,) as well as exclusives such as Eternal Darkness ( ) and the superior version of Resident Evil 4 make a clear cut winner for me.

X-Box

Easy No.2 here. The hardware on this machine is amazing. The built in hard drive is an achievement in gaming. Most console developers would have buy a hundred memory cards, yet the X-box gives you more than enough to enjoy though its entire life span. It has a plethora of third party titles, though it lack in first party. Still successes from so many of its games speak for themselves, but the X-Box only gets 2nd by default.

PS2

Its a shame Sony puts the most money into getting quality exclusive titles because quite frankly their system is a piece of shit. Thanks to them buying off most developers, they have put a bearhug on the market as most of the "must haves" are exclusively PS2 only. This is sad because graphically its way behind the times. The quality of their on-line support is way behind the times (at least they have on-line support.) From the number of bugs in the system to the lack of longevity this system gets the :n: from. If it weren't for the GTA's and such of that nature I wouldn't have the PS2. Though the PS3 is looking to be the be all end all, the PS2 comes in dead last for the current gen, from where I'm sitting.

PS2 and Gamecube. I'd rank Gamecube higher because Nintendo didn't releease faulty hardware to the public en masse, then charge them to repair a known problem at launch.

The game library for the PS2 is superior, but nor so much that it negates my hours of playtime on the GCN

I have a Gamecube and a DS, but I've played every current generation consoles. The Gamecube is the best of the bunch simply because of the quality of the games. I also find the DS to be superior to the PSP for the same reason.

Woulda been better if this had all the old consoles on it. I have an N64, and a PS2. N64 was the goods.

I miss my old nintendo and super nintendo. Those were amazing.

Yeah, representin N64 to the fullest. But, as par the three options given, I have only a PS2. It gets the job done.

I don't care about those. This is for the new gaming systems not old.
Basically what Destor was talking about.
