It was once my favorite movie as a child, and now Wicked is my favorite book. I was trying to watch it to "relive the magic" and I fuckin' hate everyone in that movie now.

Seriously, read Wicked and then take "The Wizard of Oz" seriously... You can't do it.

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Wizard of Oz was never meant to be taken seriously.

As a child I took it as a serious piece of film. It has lasted the test of time, but read Wicked and you'll understand. You'll hate the wizard.

I never took it seriously. The acting is so ridiculous.

IT's a totally campy experience. It's nothing like the book either. The only people who ever took it seriously were drag Queens.

Is Wicked definitely worth reading? Sounds interesting.

What year was the Wizard of Oz movie made? Compare that movie to what else they had back then, I can see why it was a big hit.

It was made in 1939

I loved this movie when I was a kid. This movie is a classic. Chnaged the way movies were made much like Star Wars and The Matrix later on

Yeah why don't you explain what Wicked is. Is it a novel that the movie was based on? If so, how does that take how seriously you view the movie? Explain.

I know what he's talking about now. Wicked is a book in which you see The Wizard of Oz from the witch's (Elphalba's) perspective. Yeah the characters in Wizard of Oz were pretty glorified and makes it seem like she was good and everyone else was bad.

Wait, I am pretty sure Wicked was written after the movie came out (quite some time after) and by somebody who had nothing to do with the movie.

Yeah, just looked it up. I don't see how this book could affect your view of the movie though. From my understanding it completely changes the story around.

Whether it screws the story up or not, two interpretations of the same text (and both loose at best...The movie was horrible) can have an effect on your perceptions of the other.
