I'm sorry but I thought Revenge of the Sith was shit. I liked the final battle between Obi Wan and Anakin but the rest of the movie was pretty boring. Just throwing things together to try to end the series. Although the Matrix Revolutions was much worse in the same sense.

Morgan
12-23-2005, 11:18 AM
Batman Begins
The Descent
King Kong
Star wars episode 3
War of the worlds

No order there and I'm probably forgetting a few. I actually enjoyed Star Wars though I get what Diesel means some shitty dialogue and "NOOOOOO" aside, I thought it was a big improvement on the last two.

I'd need to see a list of all the major releases this year, because I've seen a bunch of movies. I'll probably post my list closer to New Year's once I've had a chance to dig through old ticket stubs.

Serenity will be #1, though. No doubt.

Crash (my pic for Academy award, although I doubt it will even be nominated)
40 Year Old Virgin
Wedding Crashers

That's all I really liked from this year, for the most part. I saw Sin City and Batman Begins but I didn't really like them. I have no interest in seeing Brokeback Mountain, Walk the Line and Cinderella Man. I still want to see, Serenity, Munich, Syriana and King Kong though.

No order.

Sin City
Wedding Crashers
40 Year Old Virgin
Batman Begins

I guess that's it. I should also note that this isn't a strong lineup. 2-3 of those choices are simply there because they were the better ,of a bunch of weak movies.

YOUR Hero
12-23-2005, 08:48 PM
Syriana, which I wish to see, would undoubtedly be on that list, from what I've been hearing.

OK, I just watched The Jacket.

It's my #1 movie of 2005.
Great show, even if it's not made in 2005, (however it could have been) I saw it in this year and that qualifies it.

El Capitano Gatisto
12-30-2005, 10:15 AM
It was released in 2005, so it counts.

YOUR Hero

Really good show. My brother brought it to my attention...Did you make a topic on it once? I think you did. Anyway, it's a movie that I do not remember getting any media attention or mainstream reviews. If it did, I missed them, really good show.

Cinderella Man
Crash
Hotel Rwanda (was this in 2004?)

Crash and the Jacket I watched based purely on your recommendation on here.

Crash, I loved. The Jacket was pretty good, but not quite as good IMO.

Hotel Rwanda was released in early 2005 here, so it counts as this year for me.

Crash?

Hmmm.

The Machinist?

That's the trouble living in a rather small city. All you get is the prescribed mainstream movies.

I'll have to do a DVD search for these two.

Crash is a pretty big film with a cast littered with semi-big names. Should be able to get that.

The Gooch

Crash is bent. I hate Sandra Bullock so I didn't want to see it. It was fantastic. Somewhat PC although not trying to be, but very enjoyable.

Thanks for the info ECG on Hotel Rwanda, I saw the movie this year, but if memory serves it was nominated for an Oscar so I wasn't certain of the release date.

Here's my top fifteen, keeping in mind that there are still a bunch that I want to see, but haven't (way behind on the Oscar contenders, for example):

Serenity
The 40 Year Old Virgin
King Kong
War of the Worlds
Batman Begins
Crash
Unleashed
Cinderella Man
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Sin City
Wedding Crashers
Corpse Bride

alright new new list as promised, (note all 5 films are essentially #1a through #1e)

1. Munich
2. Constant Gardener
3. Crash
4. Brokeback Mountain
5. Syriana

Honourbale mention: Stay, Elizabethtown, Walk the Line, Serenity, Sin City, The Weatherman, Lord of War, Jarhead, Rent, Broken Flowers,

What Would Kevin Do?

Why not.

1. Broken Flowers
2. Crash
3. Walk the Line
4. Sin City
5. Unleashed

Honorable mention goes to The Devil's Rejects, which I loved with a passion, along with Wedding Crashers. I didn't list a lot of the more "Popular" picks because I didn't see them, and had no interest or desire in seeing them.

And once again a new list (it changes all the time heh), (note all 5 films are essentially #1a through #1e as last time, in fact you could include Brokeback Mountain as #1f )

1. Good Night, and Good Luck
2. Munich
3. Constant Gardener
4. Crash
5. Syriana

Honourbale mention: Brokeback Mountain, Stay, Elizabethtown, Walk the Line, Serenity, Sin City, The Weatherman, Lord of War, Jarhead, Rent, Broken Flowers,

This might change yet again after I see Capote.

Lara Emily
02-09-2006, 10:54 PM
Capote on any other year hits my top easily, this year it's number 6. Dropping Brokeback to number 7, and expanding my #1 letter ranking from 1a-f to 1a-g

For any of you that care, CRASH will be getting re-released on DVD in like April or March on a special 2 disc set.

It is well worth the buy because it is clearly a Top 3 film of 05

Crash?

Hmmm.

The Machinist?

That's the trouble living in a rather small city. All you get is the prescribed mainstream movies.

I'll have to do a DVD search for these two.

I just go to the video store when I'm looking for some of the rather obscure movies that never get media attention. I don't know about where you live but the video store in my town usually has a copy or two of the good movies that don't get much attention. I saw Constant Gardener, Crash, The Machinist and some others that I never heard anything about just by going to the video store and reading the back cover.
