Sources close to Metallica have told Launch that the band will not play any U.S. shows this Summer. Sources say that the band will enter the studio in July with producer Rick Rubin (SOAD, Slipknot, Audioslave) to begin recording their ninth album.

St. Anger offends my senses more than if someone were to smear dog shit all over me.

I believe I heard that they dropped that sound after realizing how their fans didn't like it. I read somewhere that it was said they would be returning to an older sound.

I'll believe they're going with Rubin when I see it, cause they've always made a big deal of saying Bob Rock is their guy.

They aren't recording with Bob Rock? I wonder if this is because Motley Crue is recording with him?

Metallica and Motley Crue aren't exactly best friends.

Well how is he going to do Motley Crue's new album and Metallica's?

The thing about St. Anger was that they repeated a lot of the same lyrics in the songs over and over and it just dragged on.

I love Frantic and Some Kind of Monster tho.

Returning to their old sound is what St. Anger was supposed to be.

First the Napster hating and then St. Anger. I think these dudes are washed up. I'll just pop in Ride the Lightning and realize that this type of masterpiece won't happen again from these guys.

Hell, they have been going downhill ever since Cliff Burton died.
