What do you people wanna see at this year's E3? What do you expect to happen?

- I wanna see some real concrete news on Revolution and PS3; including in-progress games. They don't have to be playable, I just wanna know what I'll be working with in the future.

- XB360's next crop of games.

- WWE SmackDown!'s eighth game.

- Some shockingly cool news about something I'm interested in.

Maybe we'll see something actually decent from the 360's lineup, besides (IMO, of course) Dead Rising or Oblivion (which I don't feel merits buying a console SOLELY for).

Like VC though, I'm REALLY interested in seeing what the PS3/Rev have in store. Curiouser and curiouser.

I'm interested in seeing if they acutally change the name to Nintendo GO. Not to mention the new PS3 controller, release date, and some gameplay. There are suppose to be PS3 kiosks so I just want to see how good the games look.

Hopefully there will also be some info on Spore, Battlefield 2142 and more footage of Crysis.

Just so most of you know; PS3 will be much more powerful than the 360, but very few developers will tap that power before the end of this console cycle. Games will look only slightly better than the 360 (as XBox games looked slightly better than PS2 games, it'll be about the same margin).

Whoever believes that Killzone pre-rendered movie is gameplay is living fantasies.

The GT vid was real though, that was kick-ass. Looking at past GT games it seems to be the logical step in visuals. Hard as shit, though.

I think the PS3 footage is already showing vast improvements over the 360. That's not saying the 360 doesn't have good graphics, that's just saying that the PS3 looks that much better.

And the Killzone footage was never claimed to be gameplay. It was just said that that was what the PS3 was able to render in real time. Even if it was pre-rendered, the PS3 will still able to produce those kinds of graphics.

In this logic, the N64 was able to produce all the prerendered vids for Resident Evil 2 because it was running on the console, no?

DS
03-28-2006, 05:38 PM
I can't answer that because I have no idea what the videos for Resident Evil 2 were. I'm just saying the video wasn't gameplay, it was a video to show off the rendering power of the PS3.

Okay, I'll get at you from a different angle:

The PS3 may have pushed those visuals, but with the system pushing other things like AI, physics engines, random effects and such. After spreading the PS3's power to other outlets, the visuals will not be the same in the end.

I have the PS2, it sucks. There's none of the innovation or originality of the original Playstation, and all PS3 previews make it sound like half the console it should be.

Revolution will have the most fullfilling games, an innovative control system, the back catalogue, but will finish last because games are "trendy" now and casual gamers only care about Sony's media BS and having what looks better and all their friends have.

McDoogle
03-28-2006, 07:01 PM
How do you know Revolution will have the most fullfilling games when nothing has been shown? You don't even know what the system looks like. Yes the control system is innovative but you won't know how great it is until you actually try it. What if it's a piece of shit? Nobody knows. Just like the PS3. You can't judge anything until everything is out.

I have a GameCube and it sucks. What you call innovating games I call boring pieces of shit. Difference of opinion.

Track records give me every faith in Nintendo to make a generation of amazing games, plus Sony's complete and utter laziness on the PS2 had put me off their systems until they start putting good games on their systems again. The only thing I'll miss is Smackdown.

It depends on how the programmers deal with it. Nvidia just recently announced their use of a PPU on the extra pipes of their videocards. This takes stress of the CPU and puts it on what was unused by the other parts. That's the angle Sony has taken with the PS3. The games will use 6 of 7 of the processors, if you wanted to I'm sure you could dedicated a processor for AI and physics and then use the other 4 for graphical power.

Don't just look at this from the Killzone render because the other live renders from E3 last year were just as amazing. Unreal Tournament 2007, for example.

Revolution still looking hottttttttt as usual. Can't wait for it and PS3.

Not sure if I'm about PS3 or Rev moreso though. I doubt the PS3's maximum capabilities will be tapped, what with the new technology and all. I'll get one when it comes out, but if there's a warranty with it, believe me, I'll get it. While the PS2 had a great library of games (a bit better than Gamecube's, imo. but GC is better quality overall by far), it was a technological abortion.

I wanted to get RE 4 for PS2 after it came out. I already had it on GC, but I wanted the extras.

So I finally caved and got it, but although I love my PS2, I play it on GC unless I want to do some extras. Rarely do I ever feel like sitting through loading screens over and over. So I hope the PS3 improves on that (and I imagine it will).

Rev's just a wildcard at the moment though. It's either gonna be very good or very bad. Book it

I have a PS2, XB, and 'Cube. Realistically, I play the XB most. But that was more based on the ported games than anything. I'd get Street Fighter Anniversary for XB on the simple fact that I hated switching systems to play another game.

There are alot of games I rather play on PS2's controller, though.

As far as ports go, the Gamecube didn't get my vote (Soul Calibur 2's an exception for one obvious reason). But as far as exclusives go, it's untouched. You haven't lived until you tried Zelda Four Swords (well worth the pricey set-up).

12-player Halo LAN parties are well worth the set-up too.

I imagine the next console generation will be similar. But online Smash Bros. and Mario Kart is gonna run things for a long time.

Unreal looked nearly that good for years already on high-end PC's. And your idea of dedicating processors to individual tasks was talked about since the last generation; and with increases of power come the same problems that kept it in check. What's the point of all that power if the console's gonna joke again pushing more poly's? Although the consoles are stronger, they're working just as hard as last gen. Imagine a college football player dominating the ranks, then heading into the NFL. He's stronger, but the work he has on him increased to said skill-level.

Did I lose myself? :wtf:

You're right, I was rambling.

But, I don't really see these vast improvements. PS3's online network is untested, and Sony didn't say anything that I didn't already here 6 years ago. We know Nintendo's gonna give us some good stuff, and we know XBLive is worth $50 a year. PS3 seems destined to be the middle man. Let's be honest; sales figures say nothing about the common gamer. PS2 may have won the last generation sales wise, but I know what I played more.

The only reason I don't conclude Sony's dream speeches as BS is that little chance that they'll deliver practical gaming entertainment. And you don't need Cell Tech to do it.

Sony released an alternate version of what they said years ago. Top visuals, 3rd party support, blah blah. This is what makes me believe Sony's next gen offering will be high-res Bloody Roars across the board. Aside from their promising online network, which is really a game of catch-up, I'm not excited about PS3.

Nintendo, however secretive they are, have proved that despite an aging philosophy in the gaming industry; they deliver good game experiences. You can't beat that with a iron rod. Let's talk exclusives; what does Sony have on Nintendo? Heck, what does Sony have on Microsoft (has much as I hate Peter Moore)? I can safely guess what to expect on Sony's front, which isn't bad. MGS4 and Smackdown! 2007 can only be awesome. Just like Halo 3's gonna sell more systems for Microsoft. I expect Nintendo to give us good stuff. They don't have to 'announce' it, it's just the way it is.

Whats with the hostility? All systems have their pros and cons and I plan on getting them all.

Nintendo obviously has the better first party games.

Sony has more variety and mature-oriented games.

Xbox is trying to emulate Sony with minimal success. Kinda lacking game library wise but its still a good system.

So, in conclusion, shut the fuck up because we will play what we want so who cares what others think.

There are only 2 smash brothers games right now. The second was basically a whole new game with all the shit they added... and that game STILL sells so many copies years after its release.
